  1. Sorry...doesn't fit. The 34/35 is the longest that will make the box.
  2. Welcome aboard. Looking forward to shooting with you.
  3. The stock Trojan finish isn't great, so chrome is probably a good idea. Don't get me wrong...I love my Trojan...but if I have one complaint it's the finish.
  4. I've seen a couple guys around here do it...probably for reasons already addressed.
  5. Tons of folks around here (myself included) are shooting 9mm 1911's with great results.
  6. I like my Trojan. Not saying it's "the best", but mine has served me well and has been very reliable. The finish sucks, though...
  7. I'm curious as well. I bet there aren't many people that are willing to be the guinea pig this time around, though.
  8. Cool! So I could take the magwell off my 9mm Trojan and shoot it in SSP? That would be awesome, and I'd have no reason to keep my Glock 34 around.
  9. Not to hijack, but what about an extended safety? Not that I'm going to change how I hold the gun, but that's where my thumb rests.
  10. Don't you think that would stack ESP and all but kill SSP?
  11. Another vote for Tripp mags. I use the Dawson no gap basepads since I use the Dawson no gap magwell. I'd bet the standard Tripp basepads would work fine with the S&A magwell. As far as checkered mag releases that are also drilled and tapped for a button...I don't know if I've ever seen one. I use the Dawson IDPA legal drilled and tapped release with the LoPro button when I'm shooting SS. I unscrew the button when I'm shooting CDP.
  12. I shoot 9mm and .45 1911's in competition- Singlestack, CDP, and ESP. My carry guns are either a Glock 19 or a Kel-Tec P3AT. I enjoy shooting 1911's more. Glocks are great for carry, but they're just not as much fun.
  13. The Dawson base pads extend as low as possible and still fit the box.
  14. I like the no gap Dawson, also. I have one on my 9 and 45 1911's.
  15. Forget the gloves, after "my" I would have given you a FTDR for swearing at the RO. I believe you should stick up for yourself, but not with profanity. Go for it...I was already on my way out the door. Handing out bogus FTDR's and stacking them on when a shooter sticks up for himself isn't good for business. The match director's job is to sell entertainment, and to follow the rule book. If he's not doing one or the other (or neither, in the case of some matches I've been to) the customers will find another match to shoot or game to play.
  16. Good for whoever was running that match for actually checking. This is the first account I've heard about of someone being turned away (at least for one division) because their classifier wasn't up to date. I can't remember ever having my card checked in dozens of majors over the past several years. I've always had it up to date, though, just in case.
  17. I like the 1911 for CDP. More weight to help counter the recoil, and the trigger on the 1911 makes it easier for me to shoot more accurately than any of the plastic guns. The 1911 is CDP as God intended.
  18. I don't see why it would be illegal, but I imagine it would be a huge PITA.
  19. My wife shoots a Glock 34 or my 9mm STI Trojan 1911. I think she prefers the 1911, though. Most of the other ladies around this area shoot a Glock of some sort...mainly 17's and 34's.
  20. I've never thought to count, but it seems like there are about 8-10 primers left in my 650 at the buzzer. Call me OCD, but I never leave powder or primers in my press for any period of time when I'm not reloading. I'll even turn off the casefeeder and remove the brass from the tube. It's unnecessary, I'm sure, but it's part of my procedure and I'm sticking with it.
  21. I was given an FTDR for a false start several years ago. I wasn't trying to cheat...I was just a nervous noobie. 3 second PE is the correct penalty. The guy that gave me that FTDR was the same MD that threatened to give me an FTDR for wearing gloves for warmth and taking them off when it was time to shoot. I was a little more experienced when this happened, and I told him- "Kiss my a--; I'll just go home. I'm not risking an AD because my fingers are too numb to feel the trigger." He didn't give me that FTDR...
