Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hello, I have the RTS2 and used it for about 15000 shots on my open gun. Now i recognized that the cover of the laser led is gone, I can see the wires inside. The red dot is still there. Is this a common problem? Alex
  2. Thank's for the answers. The power supply is made for 220V, the output voltage is 12V maximum. The power supply is still working. I am trying to get a new motor and if I am not successful here, I will contact Zorotools. Alex
  3. Hi, I was using the MrBulletfeeder for a year now and the the second motor quit working. Is there a comparable motor available that will work longer and is not "made in China"-stuff? Most modern motors are brushless, but such motors need controls. Alex
  4. Not beeing a gunsmith I believe, that the crack at the ejection port has nothing to do with slide lightening. I guess that this is a result of the 173PF and the 9lb recoil spring. Alex
  5. Thank's a lot for the answers so far. I can clarify that I can get once shot 9mm brass free, I just have to change it with the same weight of any used brass. 38 super brass would cost about 250$ per 1K here, a good reason why Europeans prefer to shoot 9mm. The other thing is, open shorties are very rare and You can hardly test such guns here. But I have learned now, that it does not matter what You have - shortie vs. full size or bull vs. bushingbarrel - it seems to be the whole package that makes a gun shooting fast and flat. Alex
  6. I am planing to get an open pistol soon. The caliber will be 9mm (major) since brass for 38super has to be bought and is expensive. And it will be a 2011 style pistol. What I still don't know is, should it be a full size or a commander size (shorty) system and should I get a bull or a bushing barrel? I guess that the short system with a bushing barrel would be the fastest cycling gun, possibly leading to ejection problems (forward ejection). But due to a low weight it should be better for fast transitions. And the full size system with a bullbarrel should be much slower cycling and shoot softer. The gun should have a comp only. I don't think that holes in the barrel are a good idea, since the 9mm cartridge holds not so much powder like the 38super. What would You recommend? Alex
  7. Well, I have got a new barrel fitted. It looks different, the rib is squared with rounded corners and a radius between the barrel and the rib. It is marked AET but does not have the progressive rifling. I hope the fourth barrel will last longer now. Alex
  8. Here are two pictures I have made today. I cleaned the barrel and made some shots to make clear where the gas escapes through the crack. When I got this barrel fitted, there have been barrels with a radius where my barrel is broken already available, but probably not in Europe. This broken barrel has actualy a fine notch creating a predetermined breaking point. The slide never hit the barrel at the rounded surface, the grey color is residue from gas. Also the slide shows no signs of contact with the barrel. I don't know why I should get another barrel fitted. I will keep You informed as soon as I get a response from SVI. Alex
  9. Hi, I am back again in this old thread. Sometime in the summer 2010 I got the gun back repaired. I shot about 15k rounds through it and guess what? The third barrel is broken at the same spot just where the rib starts. The rib had no radius, to the contrary it had a sharp groove. The barrel had enough clearance to the slide and there are no signs of contact. Since I have got a STI with no such ribbed barrel gimmick in the meantime it does not hurt anymore to own an expensive SVI beeing worth nothing. If it will be repaired again at no charge it's ok, if not it will be recycled like scrap metal. Alex
  10. Hi, I don't own an open gun yet. But a friend had the problem you have. Put of the sight that You can see where the cases land on the floor. If they land in front of you and your gun, the slide is too fast. Get a recoil spring in the 14 pounds range. The cases have to touch the floor behind you. The rest will be tuning of extractor and ejector. Alex
  11. Ok, thank You! I thought Schuemann was bought by SVI, but I guess that's wrong. Alex
  12. Hi, All three have been shipped from SVI directly. The first was the original, when I bought the gun. Do You think the bore will become smooth and more accurate after let's say 4000 shots with FMJs? Alex
  13. After getting the third barrel fit to my SVI I have such an AET in .40 cal. with these tool marks. Beside these marks the barrel is very rough. I need more powder to get factor and the accuracy is poor. I use Hornady bullets now. With the old barrels I could use copper plated lead bullets with perfect accuracy. I tried them in this new barrel and got horrible leading after about 40 shots. The first inch of the barrel after the chamber was golden from the copper plating, the rest of the barrel was silver from the fresh lead crust. At the muzzle I could hardly see the rifling. I don't think these new AET barrels are pieces of good engeneering. I would like to have an old smooth one - unfortunatley they cracked due to bad fitting. Alex
  14. Hi, how much percentage of its original value does a 40 cal. SV Sighttracker loose after about 10k rounds. The springs have always been original and I used a shok-buff, so the gun is not excessivly used. I want to return the gun to the dealer for a reasonable compensation, because it is not possible to get a new barrel from SV, after the old one is broken due to tight fitting. Alex
  15. New 38 super brass is sold at about 170 Euro per 1000 pcs in Germany and Austria. That's the reason why 9 major is prefered here. Alex
