MIGUEL
Good afternoon friends, Has this happened to anyone else with a gun? When? brand?. The material used in the manufacture of this barrels is an AISI 416R. In my country there are already several broken barrels of the same brand. http://www.schuemann.com/Portals/0/Documentation/Webfile_Barrel_Steel.pdf Greetings from Chile. schaet
WOW, that's a pretty catastrophic failure. Fortunately I have not had this happen, but I do use both Infinity and Schuemann barrels So many questions; 1. What caliber? 38sc? 2. What was your load? 3. How's your hand!? 4. Was this from a squib with a followup round or just a single round failure? 5. How many rounds through it? I hope you're OK!
Whoops!
That’s a pretty catastrophic failure. I’m around a lot of Infinitys in Texas (SVI’s home state) and I haven’t seen anything like that. Are you guys loading your own ammo in Chile? What powder? Some of the international powders can be very inconsistent. Schaet, you just barely beat me to it. Now it looks like I copied your first line instead of you copying mine. Not cool. 5. ¿Cuántas rondas a través de él? ¡Espero que estes bien! .38sc 7,7 grns longshot i is good. I practiced unhooking a metal. the barrels has no more than 10,000 round

GrumpyOne
7.7 of Longshot wouldn't do that. My guess is a larger charge with something else in the case and/or catastrophic bullet setback. Can you take pictures of the primers of your spent cases and post them?
TONY BARONE
Most likely reloading error.
yigal
first thing is good that u ok. the other is that's only expensive metal work. there is signs of high pressure .can't tell u 100% from what probably u have strong fingers and u pull trigger to hard. Posvar
Wow. Very sad to see that but more importantly glad you are ok! If you have several other broken barrels in your shooting circle/country that is odd and as others stated possibly a reloading issue.
rhebert
Looks like detonation too me I have seen similar failures due to very low powder amounts Powder flashes over and detonates. Did they run out of powder during loading session ?

Mi conjetura es una carga mayor con algo más en el caso y / o un revés catastrófico de bala. ¿Puedes tomar fotos de los primers de tus casos gastados y publicarlos? yigal
u can check hardness of the barrel.if small file don't take it ,so barrel metal is to hard and will behave like glass.
ziebart
It's not just the barrel. Whole thing including the bottom of the magazine blowing out
JsK
Seen this sort of damage before. Its from a squib. 45apc and other standard pressure loads just buldge the barrel so its not suprising a major of load would split it apart and take the slide out. GrumpyOne
4 hours ago, MIGUEL said: All but 2 of that brass is ok....but those two had some sort of overpressure issues. It could be bullet setback, it could be a larger than normal charge. The ones in question do not appear to be flattened, and if the others came from the same batch, I would expect them to show the same signs, if the cause was bullet setback, I would expect to see them all like that.
