gregshin
I've been running a 10lb recoil spring and a 23lb mainspring. I wanted to go with a lighter mainspring and i use CCI primers with 147gr bullets with a fast powder. just wanted to see what you 9mm minor combo springs are using. scottlep
17 lb, but it doesn't light off some factory ammo with the stock firing pin. No problem with hand loads using Federal primers.

Aircooled6racer
Hello: I use 17 lb ISMI mainspring and a 9 lb ISMI recoil spring for my 9mm guns even the open ones. I check for coil bind on the recoil springs well. Thanks, Eric

Nickoli
17# MS. I have not had enough range time to break in the gun yet so I don't have a load worked up with a lighter recoil spring. Currently it is a 10# inside my 5.5 sight tracker.
Fuelie777
I use a ISMI 19# mainspring. When I used a 17# mainspring, some primers would not light off. Have the same trigger pull weight.

S&W686
For my STI Eagle in 9mm I run a 9lb recoil spring and 17lb mainspring. I mainly use Winchester or Federal primers, but had a few CCI primers and all worked fine with this combination. I did try a 15lb mainspring and had a few light strikes with the CCI Primers. 2MoreChains
10lb recoi, 18lb mainspring. I've tried using a 17lb mainspring, but would periodically get light strikes (CCI and Win SPP mainly). For those of you running 17 or even 15 lb main springs, what do you have to do to get reliable primer strikes? Run Federal primers or X-long or lightened firing pin? Thx
Steve RA
I use SRPs in everything - Tula KVB-223 - and have no problem with them with 17LB mainsprings in 9mm and .45ACP.

Thx Nothing special to my knowledge. Looking at my build sheet, I'm just using a standard length Wilson BP firing pin. I've run just about every primer brand with probably less than 3 failures total. The last one I can recall was with a tula primer and it didn't appear to be a light strike.

ltdmstr
Problem with light mainspring is usually a mushy trigger. You get a lot cleaner, crisper break with a heavier mainspring. And it lets you run a lighter recoil spring. Just my .02.

doc88
17# in both 9mm Trojans with never a problem. I use Wolff springs. 9# recoil spring with a 147 gr bullet is a pleasure.
