  1. This thread may be of interest to some of you guys. Specifically beginning at post #117. It has to do with the latest interpretation of the clause regarding non residents (non MA-Non-Res LTC holders) bringing guns into the state for competition. Basically, there has been re-interpretation in the previous few years that (by said interpretation) means no other states' CCP meets the specific requirements of the clause, and thus there is no legal way to possess a gun in the state without a valid MA LTC. Take it for what you will. http://www.northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/threads/95897-Non-residents-Legal-info-on-bringing-guns-into-Mass-for-competition-or-hunting/page3
  2. Anyone else using these? I worked up a load with 800X that gets me around 1150fps in my 6" LWD barreled G20. The problem I'm having is this recent batch I got generally measures > .402", which was causing a distinct bulge in my case at the base of the bullet when seated. I process all of my 10mm brass first through a Lee FCD to do a push-through size, then a full length size/decap with a normal Lee .40/10mm sizer (not an EGW or undersized die). Belling was done with the Lee powder/expander die. When I taper crimped (Hornady taper crimp die) to remove the bell, I was having chambering issues. I finally ran the completed round through the Lee FCD for a push through sizing, and that ironed the bulge out a bit -- I assume it swaged the bullet down a bit. 2 questions -- has anyone else run into this issue with these bullets causing noticeable bulges when loaded, and is running them through the push-through sizer an acceptable solution, or is there something better I can do?
  3. PA has a large thread on this optic over on arfcom. It's a pretty heavy piece of glass. Durable, but it's heavy.
  4. I'd prefer a single high mount to achieve the desired height over a riser mounted under a low mount. Less flex/failure points. I run ADM mounts on all of my AR optics.
  5. Rifle is always better than pistol. More stable platform, bigger mags, and more energy. Personally I'd go with better ammo than 55gr FMJBT too though. 64gr Gold Dot, 75gr TAP, etc..
  6. Starrett really is what you seek. Buy once cry once.
  7. Devcon Plastic Steel epoxy works well in my experience, but you need to make sure the surface is roughed up, completely clean (acetone), and warm (oven at 170deg for 10min).
  8. Factory magwell works pretty well too if you open it up internally with a Dremel
  9. Thumb-under feels more natural to me, but I force myself to shoot thumb-over to avoid flipping the safety on.
  10. Did they define long vs short term? Long term may mean like 20 years...
  11. VV320 is good. Unique works fine (albeit a bit dirty). TG is another good powder.
  12. If your cases are really tacky after the alcohol dries, they have too much lanolin on them -- try leaning the mixture out to 12:1 or 16:1. I dry tumble in Lizard Litter -- about 30-45min removes the lanolin.
  13. For me it's usually from the powder funnel.
  14. I use the Tula KVM223 primers in my 5.56 AR loads. I had bought like 20k from PV a while back, and never saw them again. They were a great deal because they are the "hard cup" design like the CCI41's, but basically half the price. Hopefully things open up in late January.
  15. Probably Federal or Fiocchi, but you need to try this out at the range.
  16. Get a G35 -- you can always get a conversion barrel and shoot 9 through it. They're stupid easy to work on too -- you shouldn't need a shop to do anything on a Glock.
  17. I bought mine through a local sale on here. Also worth watching is Grabagun, Tombstone Tactical, and TSS Warehouse. They let you set up email alerts for stock levels.
  18. I find TG to be very sooty at less than max loads. Not the case with N320.
  19. So what's the deal with Tula/Wolf -- are they not allowed to be imported currently?
  20. I occasionally do, but every time I seem to regret it as I find it sticks to the expander/powder funnel more when wet tumbled. I use Armor All Wash and Wax, with Lemishine.
  21. 1327 out of a 5" barrel isn't too shabby at all. I liked AA7 but stopped using it because it's a pain to meter -- it's so fine it gums the charge bar up. Switch to wood dowels for your sunscreens -- they break nice an easily when you shoot them, which saves the plastic housing that they slide into in the chrony. Ask me how I know
  22. I like 147s. Blue Bullets has a 135 also which is a nice compromise between 124s and 147s.
  23. Try contacting the barrel manufacturer. Not apples to apples, but I had issues with an aftermarket Glock barrel not being throated enough to accept the 147gr loads I had worked up in the stock barrel. I contacted the manufacturer, mailed it back to them with some dummy rounds, and had it back (free of charge) 2 weeks later.
  24. I was a staunch Glock fanboy, and hated 1911s. I gave them an honest try (I thought) but couldn't get used to them. Earlier this year I picked up a SA Mil-Spec on a whim, with a few upgrades (beavertail, trigger, etc..) and it just clicked for me at the range the first time out. I'm still nowhere near as proficient and fast with the 1911 as I am with my Glocks, but I finally enjoy shooting them now. I picked up a widebody RIA in .40 to use in Limited next season too. Actually shot my first match with it a week and a half ago and did as well as I would have with my G34. So no, it's not a fool's errand, but you should handle and shoot as many as you can before purchasing one to find out what it is you do and don't like.
  25. Can you change powders to work with the Precision 155s? SNS and Blue Bullets make 165 coated w/ no lube groove, would they work or is 155 the max?
