  1. So I've been practicing my draw almost every night since making my thread, and I've noticed a few things but no "magic bullet" yet. 1) If my holster side foot is too far back, the problem is worse 2) It's more of a problem if I am standing straight up vs. taking a more aggressive "weight on the balls of the feet" stance 3) Loosening the tension screws helped but didn't solve everything 4) Switching my shorts helped a little bit Last night I actually tied the hanger to my leg with a piece of paracord. Worked awesome! But it's impractical haha. I have long arms so I think at least some of the issue with my draw stroke is that I'm just not anatomically prone to not pulling straight up -- I can do it if I go nice and slow but it isn't natural feeling and I am towards the end of my range of motion in terms of shoulder flexibility. I'm debating attaching a piece of velcro to a pair of pants and the hanger to help hold it down
  2. How is the tension on the leaf spring that holds the case over the priming station? I find the tension is critical, if it's too tight or loose I have all sorts of priming issues (sideways/crushed primers).
  3. Thanks everyone. I will play around with the angle of the holster a bit and focus on pulling straight up.
  4. As tight as it goes, around my hip bones. I can squeeze a finger or two between my belt and hip bone but it's uncomfortable. That said, I don't have much above the belt these days to catch it, haha. That's what got me thinking about the shorts and how little support they have, versus jeans or something where I can't hike them up anywhere near as easily.
  5. Osage County says they have a shipment of grips en route from Sig and should be there Friday. https://www.osagecountyguns.com/blog/news/sig-sauer/sig-p320-x5-legion-coming/ towards the bottom of the comments
  6. The basics: I'm wearing a CR Speed inner and outer, holster is a RHT with the retention set just enough to have a 'click', and it sits on a BOSS hanger. I'm wearing golf shorts which are a pretty soft and don't offer much in terms of support, but I do have the inner belt cinched tight. As you can see in the video, the gun and holster tend to move together and pivot towards my body around the belt, before clearing. I think there are multiple factors -- the shorts I'm wearing, and my technique. I had never gotten slow-mo video of my draw before this, but friends were commenting that my draw "looked bad today" (this is the first time I've worn these shorts with this gun/holster/hanger combo). I'm a C level shooter. I can't tell if my wrist rotation is causing the holster to pull rotate like it is, or if that is happening as a result of the holster retention and belt/short combo causing that to occur before the gun breaks free. I think at a minimum I need to get some video of the same rig in jeans to rule the shorts in/out.

    P320 X5 Thread

Ohh, I didn't think of that. I was actually thinking of doing it in terms of Limited for a .40 top end for my X5 frame, but that's a valid point that I'd need to get a second grip module instead of just another slide.

    P320 X5 Thread

Has anyone mixed tungsten powder and epoxy and filled in the picatinny rail slots for some extra weight up front?
  9. I have with the Lee die many times. I wouldn't worry about the primer thing, you're barely putting any force on it. It's no different than having rounds in a tubular magazine.

    P320 X5 Thread

Anyone know offhand what the screw pitch/length for the magwell is? I stripped mine and had to drill it out.
  11. I just switched from 200gr Blues to 180gr SNS because I could load the 180s a lot longer in my gun
  12. I've only tried stock and Gray Guns (several of each) and the Gray Guns was totally worth the $130, IMO.
  13. I switched from a G34 to an X5 this year. I like it more. It fits my hand better and the recoil feels softer. The stock trigger in the X5 was better than the G34 stock, and when I put the Gray Guns trigger in it was better than my modified G34 trigger. I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make for a shooter of your level. I would think at that point it just depends on your personal preference.
  14. I use Titegroup for SNS coated 230gr RNs. Before that I used Bullseye with regular cast lead.
  15. I would suggest signing up for the email notification, and order it as soon as you get the email. I did this and I only ended up waiting about a week or two before getting the email. I think they come back in stock pretty often, they just sell out quickly.
  16. https://dawsonprecision.com/basepad-1911-for-chip-mccormick-power-mags-extended-to-fit-uspsa-box-by-dawson/ Not sure how I didn't see that the first time I looked I just need to check the magwell now to see if its a gap or no-gap. Thanks.
  17. And the Panteras are all standard 2011 pattern in terms of parts and mags?
  18. I have a SIG Max in 45ACP, which came with two mags. I have several Chip McCormick 8rd Power Mags from a previous 1911 that had no magwell. Which option of Dawson 1911 pads is the right one? Is there a better option than Dawson?
  19. @Eros I got antsy and saw the Romeo 1's for sale for $199 and picked one up. I have a 226RX also, so it's nice to have the familiarity of the sight picture. They're both 3MOA but I haven't had a brightness issue yet. A buddy of mine who shoots an RMR was impressed with the window size on the Romeo 1.
  20. I think a few people on forums have issues with them but by and large they work fine. Only issues I had with 17rd ones in several years of competition was some failures to lock back on an empty mag, and one particular mag had a failure to feed or two. I had some 140mm ones that would bind up and salt shaker, but one email to ETS and they had new springs in the mail to me which fixed it.
  21. Looks like a winner. Now to decide if I want to wait until July to get an optic for my X5, or just go with a Romeo 1 now haha

    P320 X5 Thread

Alma, thanks for the Youtube video on the Grayguns trigger install. I finally got around to installing mine and taking it to the range for the first time this weekend. I made the switch from a G34 after shooting a friend's X5 in two matches last year. I'm really liking it overall, and the trigger is way better than any Glock I've ever shot. Crisp and short.

    P320x5 or....

I switched from a G34 to an X5 after borrowing my buddy's for two matches. First time I ever handled it was at the safe table haha. I finished about where I usually finished with my G34 -- it was a very natural shooting gun.

    X5 Rumor?

I was at the Pro Shop buying an X5 a week ago and I asked the guy there. He basically said "yeah, there are rumors about it but in typical Sig fashion we have no idea when it's coming". It would also leave the rear sight in place so you can co-witness AFAIK.
  25. I shoot an RIA 51782 -- the 40SW double stack with the rail (not the Pro Match) I've had all sorts of mag issues with it, detailed in the big thread. I think it's sorted out now. Basically, I modify the Mec-Gar P16 mags and use Arredondo followers/springs with a modified Dawson basepad and modified Arredondo insert. They fit 20 reliably, and I can jam 21 into one of two of them if need be. Pictures and more information about my struggles are around page 40 in the big thread -- 0
