  1. Great write-up! If you're going to be shooting factory ammo I suggest you remove the comp and use the front sight block instead, it will cycle better with any of the recoil springs, plus be less nose heavy.
  2. My question is: what's so bad about compressed loads?
  3. Did you mean to answer my question?
  4. ffgats, you mention compressing the powder as if it's something to be avoided, where does that sentient come from?
  5. If you're interested in shooting major I suggest you set the 231 aside and work up a load with HS6, 8+ gr under a 115 will get you there.
  6. I recently had two pistols done in hard chrome by Techplate. Matte: and polished: I really think they turned out nice although I would do satin instead of polished next time so fingerprints wouldn't stand out so much.
  7. I've found an increase of 6% velocity per additional inch of barrel is a good place to start with your estimates (at least with pistols).
  8. That looks great Dan, how does it shoot?
  9. It looks good, but I highly recommend taking an equal amount of weight from the rear of the slide as well. If you want to keep the rear serrations you could take it from beneath the rear sight and inside the slide.
  10. I have a Pre B CZ 75 with an old style safety which isn't very positive in the on position and can't help but think there's some kind of detent or spring missing, does anyone have one like this?
  11. Perhaps the compensator create back pressure in the barrel, forcing gas up through holes in the barrel because they definitely make a difference in a comp'ed gun.
  12. Your original post says 18", but that's shorter than 18" isn't it?
  13. I agree with Superdude's assessment, I tested a Magnaported SP01 with 115s over WAC from ~100pf all the way up to 170pf and the ports have little effect.
  14. The Quinn III creates the same issue I mentioned above: http://forums.brianenos.com/index.php?showtopic=236472#entry2640559
  15. It looks cool Henning, but the lens looks really far forward, have you tried it on a V12 Gold Team? I imagine the glass would be right over the first holes.
  16. Don't bother, I haven't had good luck cheap mags.
  17. I would say the gun is holstered when it's resting in the holster and you could remove your hand without the gun moving. That being said I suggest you train yourself to put the safety on while the gun is pointed in a safe direction and before moving toward the holster.
  18. They may require a little fitting at the sear safety leg
  19. Why is it you don't want to reload? I hate to crush your dreams, but I don't think you're going to be happy going down this road, Open is all about tweaking and tinkering.
  20. That sounds about right for a full sized gun, the 38s I had were short (4.4"/three holes and 4.9"/two holes) so the only made 160PF with 10.5gr
