  1. My CZ guide will give you a good start and the Enos hive mind will get you the rest of the way!
  2. The new format is way more flexible than the old, I think we'll all learn to appreciate it someday
  3. Within limits I'd say that's a reasonable assumption; the feel of an Open gun is a very personal thing and there are always trade offs: flatness, loudness, slap in the hand, etc. One comp design may perform best with a different volume/pressure of gas at the muzzle, and number/size/location of holes in the barrel effect that; in my experience, most comps benefit from at least two holes.
  4. Start closer to 8 and work your way up with a chrono.
  5. I recently chrono'ed 7gr of HS6 under a 124gr MG JHP at 1.118" which made 170pf out of my 5.2" Tanfo w/o holes. Coated bullets are generally faster than plated which are faster then jacketed.
  6. This is what 5/32" holes on 1/4" centers look like:
  7. Do you have a drill press with a good vise? You should be able to drill clean holes, just don't drill through the bottom of the barrel. The 10 degree tilt is not critical and could be hard to get right at home. Pointing towards the end of the barrel? Yes, that's the direction I've done. 9gr of 3N38 under a 115 is a good place to start.
  8. Yes, 3/16" between the centers of the holes.
  9. I've used the same charges for CFE and WAC with similar results although both are on the fast end of 9 major powders so I'd recommend something slower like HS6 for short loads, I'd also recommend 115s if you're shooting USPSA (112gr is the lightest bullet allowed for major in USPSA, but in IPSC it's 120gr). As a generalization the faster the powder, the higher the pressure; the heavier the bullet, the higher the pressure, the shorter the OAL, the higher the pressure.
  10. OK so you could get away with 3-4 holes and still make Major, I feel like if you drill do many holes you have to go to heavier bullets or faster powder, you're going in the wrong direction. Have you ever tried 3N38 under 115s? Either way, three 5/32" holes, 3/16" on center, tipped 10 degrees back towards the shooter starting at the intersection of slide and comp work pretty well. If you're using an upright C-More without a blast shield you might skip the tipped back part
  11. I'll answer your questions with a question: what are you loading right now?
  12. The easiest way to achieve a stationary front sight on a TS is to cut back the slide, thread the barrel and install the front sight block from a Czechmate.
  13. I guess I should stop crimping the primer pockets after I load
  14. SP01 hands down. Accuracy is the same, SP01 is heavier at the nose which helps mitigate muzzle flip, the SP01 has checkering on the frame front and back, ambidextrous safeties/mag release, longer beaver tail, also there is no extended mag release available for the 75B.
  15. Have you tried 115s? I load 9.4gr of 3n38 at 1.160" for 170pf (which happens to be a book load for 9x21).
  16. First off, in my experience 115s produce less chamber pressure at the same PF than 124s, also, slower powders will help with pressure as well (try HS6 or 3N38). I know there are plenty of Open shooters using coated bullets, but I recommend MG CMJs or double plated Xtremes.
  17. First off, what are you working with? A 2011? Glock? What type of rifling? What brand barrel? Are you're 124MGs JHP? What powder are you loading. 115RN will probably load the longest for you. It can be done
  18. What's your crimp? If it's too deep it will swage the bullets as you seat them and you might lose accuracy.
  19. You just can't run the press like a drunken sailor! As long as you slow the upstroke as the shell plate indexes you'll be OK.
  20. I've found the primers are less deformed using lighter bullets at the same PF with the same powder. VV even lists a book load for 9x21 and 115 which makes 171pf: 9.4gr under a 115 @ 1.161"; I load the same in a 9x19 case.
  21. 9-9.8gr under a 115 depending on holes or barrel length.
  22. No chrome on Stock IIIs, just terrible blue which wears off and rusts like crazy after a few matches.
