Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks folks... I won't worry about it then.
  2. Folks, When I bought my 550 I started with new 1000 rounds of new .45 ACP Starline Brass. I've reloaded these cases about 3 times now. What are you folks doing about cleaning your primer pockets? Once fired, I tumble my brass in the tumbler, but that's with the spent primer still in. Do you folks actually de-prime your cases and THEN tumble? Or do you just not clean the pockets at all? What's the best practice here? Still new to reloading..... Thanks, Don
  3. Hey Warpspeed...I'm only 20 minutes from there... never heard of the place before, but gonna check it out......
  4. Folks, Been loading with Clays and BullsEye, but am about out of each. With powder being so hard to come by, I need to be more open to other brands. What powders also work well in the .45 ACP other than what I have been using so I can keep my eyes open when trolling for powders ? Using a Sig 1911 and not in competition.
  5. Folks, I have been loading 230 FMJ RNs from Precision Delta. I am just shooting paper at the range and want to look into something else. I am considering 185 SWC. Do you folks have a brand you would suggest that is somewhat available? Precision is months behind - at least on their 230 FMJs. I have also read there are some issues with their X-Treme 200 SWCs (which I have 1000 rounds of and have not loaded) in the 1911s. Are 185 SWCs maybe not the best choice for target shooting? If not, do you have any other ideas.... I am indoors, so need FMJ or plated. I am new to reloading - done about 1000 or so rounds now with y 550B. Thanks for any help and suggestions you may have..... Don
  6. Folks, Have a model 640 .357 revolver that my wife has on her bedside table. I would like to get it "out of site" but still be accessible to her. What brand of bed holster do you have/prefer/recommend? Thanks, Don
  7. Sig. 1,000s of rounds, never a FTF, FTL, FTE. I have been very happy with it. My 9mm Glock used to be my favorite, but now that I reload, my 1911 Sig is my friend at the range.....
  8. Right on... there you go. After you do a few rounds, you may want to consider the strong mount too. I wish I got it from the git-go.
  9. Thanks for all the replies folks.... I do appreciate it. Question answered.... Don
  10. Folks, I have a Sig 1911 and am setting up my Dillon RL550B for my first time reloading. I need a recipe that feeds well in the 1911s and seem to be hung up on the OAL. The Hodgdons website really doesn't seem to be too clear on 230 FMJ RN, but they are recommending an OAL of 1.20 which seems short to me. I am planning to make a batch tonite, so I'd love to get some good feedback on your load suggestions and OAL for my 1911. Here are my products: Hodgdons Clays Precision Delta 230 grn. FMJ RN New Starline brass Federal match primers
  11. Thanks Jammer and 8ring... I appreciate your feedback and knowledge. I just want to do it right. I have a Dillon 550B and I want to do things right......
  12. Folks, I have a Sig 1911. I am new to reloading and have picked up some 230 RN Bayou bullets, new Starline brass and Clays powder, two questions: Do you have a good recipe - can't find this combo in my new Lyman book. Also, I have Federal primers available locally - which ones would you suggest? Thanks, Don
  13. Thanks for all your help guys... gave me some good direction to go.
  14. Hey all, I am new to reloading and am putting together my shopping list right now using suggestions here on the forum. I have a Sig 1911 .45 ACP and have always used FMJ store bought ammo. I see so many of you going with just lead bullets such as Bayou. In fact, I don't see where Bayou even offers a FMJ. What are the downsides to lead RN bullets vs. FMJ vs. plated? I see lead as being significantly cheaper, but would think it would be much dirtier too. I am only going to shoot maybe 3,000 rounds per year at the most. Any help would be appreciated, I'm sure this won't be my first question..... Thanks, Don
