  1. Nemo; Get hold of me and until you beat me, I will let you try out anything your heart my desire. Pistol: Normal IPSC gear with a secure holster. I like the DOS--3-gun is not revolver territory Rifle: I carry spare mags on the belt. For reload standard stages like at Malibar I use 2 30's clamped together, and one on the belt in a kydex carrier. Otherwise I use a mag I can complete the stage without a reload with. From a 30 round Magpul, to a 45 round DPMS and finally if the designer is evil I will pull out the Beta. Shotgun: Unlike your paws I have small hands and so reload one at a time strong hand. First off the gun in an 8-10 round 3-gun gear sidesaddle, then to a 3gg 8 round armband, and ugh sht shells in strong side waist shell carriers. Starting to practice week hand 4 at a time as it is faster when it works but I still keep throwing lots of shells on the ground.
  2. The standard for our "Sports" rifles is the 18-20" JP with a lightweight carrier. Others have followed behind John with lightweight carriers and efficient comps. The piston driven rifles I have shot have all been carbine size with lots of carrier-piston weight moving back and fourth moving the rifle around, they don't shoot anywhere near as quickly for me as a rifle with a lightweight carrier. Even JP recommends a full weight carrier for combat reliability in SHTF user rifles. Over on AR15 dot com you will here lots of good talk about them in the tactical arena by gun store commandos and maybe even some real users but cost and parts interchangeability are a huge issue. They are trick for there intended use though and collapse down to nothing. I have the impression they try and make the claim they are as reliable as an AK, but I still don't see how as the loose bolt lockup steel rails and cartridge taper of the AK are key contributing factors to its reliability.
  3. X-2 may work with one on the carrier but no joy with the Browning due to the speed feed feature locking up the gun when one is on the carrier. The balancing act can bite you.
  4. I have the same questions. I am thinking I may need a Benelli after I sank in the Benning boat.
  5. fly free and drive 130 miles from the airport. Looks like a plan. Entry forms? Mail in date?
  6. That is flying, its about 180 miles between the 2. Mikes timing looks about right???? It will run a bunch quicker with dedicated RO's and the normal helpers. If we could only get the Winghouse and Hooters girls to paste? I am thinking Friday.
  7. Did the same thing. ACE hardware here had them. I have had great luck with a couple of mom and pop ACE stores. Lowes and HD never have any machine screws or other hardware but the little ACE hardware puts them to shame.
  8. Would you rather race a Formula 1 car, or follow others in a Nascar? Open for me, by far.
  9. Slide glide does work in Open guns but I love the new Brownells Friction Defense teflon, molly, slickery oil with a little slide glide in it to thicken just a bit. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/Pro...EANING+PRODUCTS Med. grade SG slathered in my limited gun works great, but the 8lb spring open gun likes a little more slick and has no need to soften like the 12lb. sprung limited gun.
  10. What is there to do around Benning the days before the match. Can we see/walk the stages beforehand? I would LOVE to ge an invite to the AMU gunsmith/machine shop.. Any chance of that? Any other ideas?
  11. My vacation bid is due next week I think I am just going to bid any dates that Linda is associated with matches.
  12. I still like my digicamo pants I got for $15. Perfect for cold matches. "like when its below 70".
  13. Chris you did a great job, congratulations and keep it up. On the first stage we shot I was asking who is this guy? And thinking "A class my butt". Ive said that alot lately. You quickly had a solid plan on each stage knowing the difference between what would be fastest for limited and what was smartest for the overall game. Was fun bouncing ideas off you about stage breakdowns. Time to get on a super squad like at the Open with Eric, Shannon and the other GM's that show up and play. DVC, Matt
  14. Did very well on the 2 quick short movement stages and crashed the long WOD stage. Mike you would have had me by a "few" points due to that one stage. A class my butt. This goes without saying. Marshal is one of the true gentleman of our sport and we should all shake his hand. Were you even there? It was a great match even with the timing issues. I had to pull myself out of bed and was glad I did it. Was I frustrated with my quickness and the timing? Yes. But the stages were fun and the people were great, lets not forget perfect weather. Ray, Paul and everyone else associated did a fantastic job. Tammie welcome to the forum. You and Cliff's practice is paying off. You both posted some good scores, and ran neck and neck with a bunch of solid competitors. Thank you for the video.
  15. In a boat moving sideways, 11 A zone hits with slugs or 22 hits with tons of reloading??? Waiting to here the scoring answer. I think my slug $ budget just went way up either way.
  16. I am a bit confused as to the slug count? 17 is listed but it looks like there are 17 Paper slug targets, not to mention swingers. Is it 1 hit anywhere on paper with slugs? or 1 A zone, 2 c&d with slugs just like rifle and pistol?
  17. Mine loves 24gr. RE15 and a 77SMK. Also 25gr. H335 and a 52gr A-Max.
  18. You forgot to mention I had to use an Open gun and big stick to win by 3%. Place Name Class Division PF Lady For Age Points Stg % 1 Matt J M Open Major N N 511.0564 100.00% 2 Eric S GM Limited Major N N 493.7289 96.61%
  19. The single cock spring piston guns are the way to go for ease, power and accuracy. I have an RWS model 54 that will shoot through a 2X4. I practice shooting aspirin tablets its that accurate, a good scope is mandatory. However it is heavy. If I bought another it would be a model 52.
  20. Thanks guys Now I have to get my butt back in shooting shape again before the sectional and Ft. Benning 3-gun.
  21. I have been loading 77gr. Sierra Match Kings over a charge of RE-15 with great luck. The on target BC seems to match the advertised #'s. I figure closer to .355. They take down plates with authority not like the 55's. Want to try out the 75gr. Hornady's as they are quite a bit cheaper and don't come in those stupid 50 round boxes. I was wondering about there advertised BC of .395 vs. the SMK at .362. They look almost identical in fact the SMK looks sleeker. Any one have any on target real #s on both? My favorite ballistic program if anyones interested. http://www.eskimo.com/~jbm/calculations/traj/traj.html
