  1. Nice; All we need is another great shooter creating a Jr. monster.
  2. With asthma I have found out if I take several large breaths in the time after load and make ready I program my body to take full breaths during the stage, improving my visual acuity. While taking these breaths, I roll my jaw around relaxing my jaw muscles also improving my vision. Learned this from a baseball coach as it helps see the ball, also goes for the front sights or the dot. Looks funny but works for me. At the beep I like to be inhaling calmly and slowly.

  4. I have run back to back tests like this just to prove to myself what work best for ME. I am a master class shooter that pales in comparison to 2 of our more vocal members in 3-gun prowess, good local is one thing but to beat national champions is another. For ME, I have found inside 30 yards and EO tech is the fastest followed by an Aimpoint then the C-More. From 60 to 300 I like the Accupoint followed by the Millet DMS the Meopta then the various shotgun scopes. Have not tried the 1K+ scopes. Past 300 most normal long range tactical scopes with the Horus reticle leading the way. Iron sights just don't work for me at speed, although I can shoot Master High Power scores in that discipline. I was a High-power shooter before the IPSC bug bit me.
  5. There is a reason the current production champion shoots a Glock 34. The 34 is the easiest Glock to shoot well for most people and 9mm ammo is the most affordable. You can even shoot limited minor and have a gun that holds 22 and is soft in the hand. The new S&W M&P is giving Glock a run for the money. Time will tell how well the soon to be released M&P Pro and comp. do in Production.
  6. I think they look awesome Lackluster? You beat a Master class Open shooter by 5%, and Match HOA over allot of talent. Of course Mike deserved the beating after that comment about your rifle skills.
  7. Dump about 2-300 cases in a gallon freezer bag, spray with one shot, roll around, dump in hopper. When done loading, dump on towl, spray directly with silicone lube and clean by swishing around.
  8. The ironic thing about gun weight is when I was a C-B class shooter I wanted a heavy stable long dustcover gun with a tungsten guide rod. Now as an Master I want a short dustcover gun with a titanium guide rod. You have a work of art that will out shoot you and grow with you for many years. Enjoy
  9. I still prefer the A1 stock to all the collapsible ones.
  10. Titusville always puts on a class match. It seems every match they get even better, there monthly stages are nicer than some Area matches I've shot. Elvis lives, straight from the Area7 match was great. Thanks Ted. The classifier was much more fun to shoot as a gaming speed stage. ROing and watching shooters plan the last run was a blast.
  11. I had to try the 155 Lapua Scenars, they shot good but did not group as well or as consistent as the 175 SMK's at 300+. However they shoot flat as you can drive them fast and the BC is awesome. On a known range shot the 175's group better but the flat shooting 155's give them an edge if your ranging is a bit off. I went back to the 175's as I like the tiny groups and they are easy to find.
  12. Before JP came out with the red buffer they used a carbine buffer with a spacer in the full sized stock. Same setup without the spacer works great in a carbine stock with the low mass carrers.
  13. Saturdays 92 shooter SCPSA Titusville match was dedicated as a memorial to Tony. His wake was Sunday at his home. I gave the family the results with the memorial statement at the top along with the cards, and they were extremely touched. Thank you to the Space Coast Practical Shooting match organizers this went along way with the family, coworkers and friends.
  14. The playing I have done it seems the carrier smashing back and fourth causes just as much movement as lack of a comp. Check out the JP lightweight stainless carrier to match with a comp.
  15. Played with a couple at the SHOT show and was very impressed with the quality "for the money". It doesn't have the glass or features of many higher end scopes but you could buy 5.
  16. My good friend and our own BE forum member Tony Howell AKA Hotwings2001 passed away last night at age 41 after a very short fight with cancer of the esophagus. You may remember his smiling face Open gun in hand from recent Gator Classic, Mississippi State or Florida State IPSC championships, or any of the local Central Florida 3-gun or IPSC matches. No words can say how wrong it is to have a dear friend stolen away in the prime of his life.
  17. Any gunsmith with a milling machine can do them. The trick is that "setup" and machining time would be the same as any limited gun & the same cost. It would be great practice for someone who is not a real gunsmith, IE me, as if you screw it up its cheep to buy a new gun vs a new slide and fitting. You would at least save shipping cost as its not a "gun part".
  18. Welcome to the forums and to competitive shooting. A whole new world of skills and understanding will be opening up soon. Go out and shoot some matches. Then shoot some more, try out different disciplines USPSA, IDPA, steel challenge, ext. Don't worry about modifying your Ruger yet, just shoot and have fun then decide what discipline and class you like and go from there.
  19. Great advice. My Dillon case gages are well under speck, and will find any thing anywhere near to large for my guns that have a decently tight chambers.
  20. Just my 2C Master-Yep Someone who learned the hard and expensive way that pursuing the perfect flat gun was a huge waste of time-Yep My dot rise is in the 4 range at 168PF but it is straight up and down without to much blast or hand slap. I found loads that worked the comp well enough to have a 1 but it was like shooting a loud tuning fork and hard to call your shots or have the dot not do circles. As long as you don't loose the dot and it goes straight up and returns to point of aim smoothly I don't think it matters as much as you think if its a 1 or 6. Try putting a 9Lb spring in, shooting ten thousand rounds of a smooth 125 grain load, then tuning. Yep- but I seem to remember you coming down and whipping some of us.
  21. It also really depends on where you live. If its Central FL or Phoenix where there are a ton of matches you can find local IPSC reloaders that will load you anything you need for your gun. Open is really the Formula 1 of the gun world, there is allot more tuning ammo to your gun and style than any other class but once you find a sweet spot it is by far the most fun class. Flame on You don't have to shoot much at all to justify the cost of a Dillon setup. Train/break in your wife now, it will pay off in the future.
  22. East Orange Shooting Sports. http://www.eastorangess.com/
  23. Sure just ask any one who has never shot Open and they will tell you. Its all the gun?
  24. The perfect pattern for mall ninjas also. That way they can be tactically concealed while playing video games on the couch.
  25. Thats Eric talk for upper A zone shots at 30 yards in the dark with iron sights, just horsing around.
