  1. A rat tail file taken to the areas of the holster where the belt edge ribs go will relieve it enough for a nice snug fit.
  2. Good advice, a tiny radius is also very hard on the hammer pin. As I found out the hard way. A tiny radius allowed a super light springs and great feel, but shearing a hammer pin during a match made it a moot point.
  3. Hard to argue that, but my vote still goes for Central Forida as I just cant stand Phoenix.
  4. Let someone else spend there time and money to hash out and break new unproven stuff. If its made it can be broken. If you want to come to the dark-side and unleash your true unrestricted Skywalker speed you have hidden within build or buy a mid length or full length proven setup. Look what the top guys are using, all but one its a standard cmore on a proven platform.
  5. Have had great luck with RL-15. Not so great a luck with the 75gr. Hornadys. The 77 SMK's out shot them by enough at 300+ to warrent the higher cost.
  6. I say it again, Derek is an artist with a milling machine.
  7. TK should do your gun for free just for the advertising pics. What about clips? Or do you plan on using beer can six pack holders
  8. The shoulder, and everything else don't matter till you get into sub MOA territory. A good load matching your barrel will shoot even with thrown charges and uneven seating. I have done this on purpose to find sweet spots in a recipe. When you reach the center of a sine wave in the load it becomes very tolerant. The big question is whether the shooter and gun can shoot small groups? Do you shoot high power or benchrest by chance? Try some Black Hills match in a bullet weight that matches your barrel twist and see what you can do? I have been able to get MOA groups even out of surplus M16 barrels with good ammo, glass and technique.
  9. I don't own one but have handled and shot some. Fit and finish is typical perfect LaRue, as is price. It has the same appearance as a normal mil speck upper that 50 companies label as their own. As to strength, have you ever heard of an upper breaking or the accuracy being affected by flex, except in advertising or from a mall ninja on AR15.com? It does not have the trick forged machined billet look of a JP CTR02, Sun Devil, Tactical Innovations or a host of others. It is a LaRue, and as such the best of its kind, and I have no doubt the heat treat and finish are first rate.
  10. Contact Aimpoint, I believe it has a lifetime warrenty. They fixed an older one of mine for the $7 it cost to ship to them.
  11. JP pretty much makes and sells the best of everything. I happen to think the V-Tac is the nicest handguard out there. Torn between the JP lightweight SS carrier and the new titanium beauty from Progressive Machine.
  12. Simply put, "for 3-gun work it sucks". I told several Trijicon Shot Show reps that in no uncertain terms. There reply is Accupoints are hunting scopes. I like my current Accupoint and it works great, you just have to know and adjust your zeros. With the Accupoint triangle it helps to hold under, not over. The new one is a German #4 with huge black side bars and a tiny dim center dot without BAC. The bars are so thick they actually draw you eye to the 4 sides of the scope??? I was looking forward to it. It was the biggest disappointment of the shot show. I bought a Millet. Talking with the reps and an engineer, they actually seemed to care about competition shooting and its positive effect on product development. I am going to mount my Millet and my Accupoint in Larues and test them side by side, long and short range against the timer.
  13. Lots of cool new and redone ideas in the AR tactical stuff and precision rifles. Mall ninja heaven. Not a whole lot new for competition shooters. GRF,DA2,EDN. Every one had new AR parts like rails, stocks and sights, naturally every time you asked about delivery on a really cool new item it was 4 months out. Magpul has a 20 round mag out and some cool stocks on the way. Looks like Bushmaster bought there rifle? Kel-Tec has the new short .308 that takes FAL mags that looks fun. J. Allen Ent. has a sweet M1A stock system as well as a new chassies that takes there own mags? for the Remington 700 that makes the AICS look like a 2x4. Yep 4 months out?? The Badger bottom metal for AI mags is still the bomb. Several production versions of piston uppers with different takes on the same concept, some much better than others. Speaking of the good ones Para now has ZM Weapons. All seem geared at the police market. JP's booth was filled with great rifles that would serve dual roles. Production is rolling on the .308 and .260. JP is now distributing for Nordic components, that Benelli tube is the nicest out there. Progressive Machine and Tool has the titanium carriers and they are works of art, as are the Benelli Ti. charging handles. Sun Devil Mfg. had a slick new billet upper and lower with a great idea for keeping them tightly mated. cool colors to. S&W had some neat new revolvers as well as the M&P Pro as there 9mm production gun in waiting. Despite all the rumor's it was confirmed by both a head sales rep and a team shooter that its not due out till like March?????? The new Millett DMS series looks promising, picked up a DMS 1x4 to test out may just be the wholly grail in 3-gun scopes as the reticle is brighter than the gen 1. The TRS and LRS series look good for budget precision scopes. Disgusted with the new 1x4 Accupoint. It has a duplex reticle with huge distracting side bars and a tiny dot that does not draw your eye, BAC will not work for me with this scope as it does with most of there others. Waited a long time to be disappointed. The Trijicon reps I talked with were clear they made it as a hunting scope. About 50 new makers of packs and clothing. Eberlestock still seems to be leading the quality and features war. Some gorgeous high end glass. Horus has that awesome reticle system. Nightforce is doing zero stops for civilians now. U.S. Optics has more versions to baffle you with brilliant quality. Leupold has a staggering array of models and the quality seems to be keeping up with production. Plus many new lower cost makers showing good glass and features, Konus and Vortex come to mind for low and mid price ranges. Flying over sitting with one of the show models made for a quick flight. Found out SHOT pays models much better than the photo convention next door. Cant forget all the great people I saw and met. Found out to late many others were there I missed. Blackbird Custom may bear fruit some day?
  14. I have had great luck with hot loads of Varget in my bolt guns, but the port pressure may be a bit high for an M1A.
  15. Will be there all 4 days. Its like Woodstock for gun guys. Bring a rolling suitcase not a backpack.
  16. Tried a few different loads with the 55's and the best I could get was 3" 10 shot groups at 100, out of a 1/4" gun. Still good for hosier stuff at a good price.
  17. This is what convinced me I need a semi as my precision rifle. I love my AICS but its like shooting a 2x4. I fondled the display .260 and .308's at Fort Benning and now have to have one. I am going to discuss the details with John Paul at the SHOT show and go from there. If anyone has a new one on the way it will be at SHOT.
  18. Odd?? If loading 9major and using EGW U dies like I do. Polish and taper your expander in a lathe or drill press so it expands the case less, better SD with a tight bullet. Only flare enough that you dont shave the bullets on seating. I still kill the ocasional 9x21 case Use One Shot lube. Gone through a bunch of 9 and never seen this one?
  19. Fast or good looking??? Takes fast film to catch those reloads. Eric is an awsome teacher-coach. Its about time he put his true talent for teaching to use.
  20. It all depends on what you want it to do? You can build your own or build the lower up and buy the upper? check the AR15.com forums for parts and info. I am thinking about replacing my long range accuracy 308 rifle with a semi in .260. The new JP is sweet. You need to decide what platform, Armalite or DPMS. I have decided to go DPMS style although it will probobly be a JP everything. The DPMS platform seems to be the way to go for reliability and mags.
