  1. Not what I meant. Jim is one of the proven ones.
  2. For 9mm major I would look for a PROVEN open gun smith like Dan Bedell or Benny Hill.
  3. There are about a million on line places to get business cards printed up on line and thought I would ask and see if anyone has had good luck with any of them? Tried Kinkos but they only had ones I could print at home? Or, I would be happy/prefer to give my business to a forum member. Would like about 250 raised print as the SHOT show is looming.
  4. Trying to work out my schedule. All the matches being scheduled after our annual bids closed hosed me. USPSA has got to fix this. I am thinking is a go. Open Master.
  5. 34" Short enough to slow us way down and tall enough to allow big guys to get through. Do I here an Open stage or State stage being designed?
  6. IMHO Most shooters use to long a stock. With a shorter stock and the but-plate positioned inboard from your normal hold you get more recoil control and don't hit your muffs. The gun should come up to your eye not the other way around.
  7. Just got back from the range. 25.0 gr. Ramshot X-Terminator worked great at 315yd with 52gr. Hornady A-Max. Mixed LC brass and WSR primers, 2.23". Pressure not an issue, easy to load, meters even better than H335. 2" 10 shot groups at 315 with a 8MPH breeze. Best 4 out of 10 touching. Almost the same zero as my 77SMK loads. Still not near as good as the 77gr. SMK and RL-15 which my barrel loves, and consistently produces 1" 10 shot 315 yd groups.
  8. Wouldn't it be easer to have them just take Para mags also? This is the frame as well as the grip and has been done before. They cant be any wider and not have rounds bind in the tube except in the taper, ala Para. If they were stupid enough to make the grip narrower not allowing all the current mags to fit, what would happen to the vast tooling costs post election?
  9. I love mine, they are dark enough for sunny Florida days and light enough for cloudy days or when the match is running way long. Not quite dark enough for high desert sun on a light sand background though. They enhance the targets and make for a clear sight picture with a dot, scope or open sights. Operator error????
  10. Whichever one you can get "in stock" at a better price. They are both great, some guns prefer one brand or another depends on yours. The only way to know is to try them both. My limited guns don't care either JHP, my open gun prefers Zero JHP.

  12. Sounds like you need to give me that pasky SV magwell and not worry about changing your mind and putting it back on.
  13. No matter what you pick if you can reload anywhere near as quick as Kurt you are going to smoke us all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7C0hPICnXk
  14. Vegas for the SHOT show then back to Frostproof 2 days later for the Open? I live in Florida and its going to be a pain. I bet some pros aren't happy.
  15. All metal parts will fatigue and fail. Its a matter of preventing it for as long as possible with proper material selection, machining practices, de burring, heat treatment and stress relief. Then proper use. Bolts and carriers are done in huge batches, was yours done on Friday at the edge of the bar or the basket in the oven???
  16. This is why tevo is worth every penny. I can record multiple 1/2 hour shows and watch the 5 min I care about. It generally involves the AMU or TJ. I always fast forward through how to destroy a gun segments. For great gun handling I watch DP or Paul W at a match. For great swimsuit shots I watch TV.
  17. Since my name has been brought up several times, I guess I should chime in. Talk DP out of a Benelli, easy. 1. I enjoy it when I beat you. 2. Grand masters should stick with "there" specialties, and let some of us mortals win our games. 3. I really enjoy beating you. 4. You love detail cleaning all the carbon crud on gas guns every few hundred rounds. 5. See #1 and #3. 6. I will loan you a trick gun any time you want. 7. I have a brand new in box Remington for sale. 8. Complements of a great suggestion from an Englishman to try clipping my carrier latch spring, my Gold now likes slugs. 9. I want to build my own Benelli M2 not buy yours. 10. You have lots of practice buying Brownings. 11. You enjoy replacing parts. 12. They are frakan expensive to buy and setup. About $20 more than a full out worked over Gold or Win. 13. See #7. 14. In a couple of months I will have a set up Benelli M2 you can try out side by side with a Gold and an SX2.
  18. Best way is to think of it as a bell removal station, not a crimp. You just need a couple of thousanths below case/bullet OD. If the bullet is not tight in the case without a crimp its a resizing problem, fix with the EGW U-die, not a crimp issue. You only want enough bell on the case to allow the bullet to enter and expand the case without shaving. You will have to bell slightly more with lead, plated or black bullets than with jacketed.
  19. Used a ton of both and like the 55fmj. However they changed to a washed steel bullet about 6 months ago and so my home range wont allow it in matches. I am forced to reload.
  20. Used the 77SMK for the long range Benning targets on stage 1 and 7 and they took them down with authority. They shot the same zero at 250 as my 50 grainer's. But hit steel HARD at 300+.
  21. I use different zeros depending on the range of most of the targets on the stage. My normal zero is 250yd. with 77smk's for most shooting with my short range 50 grainer's the same at 250. At Ft. Benning on the long range stage I used a 300 yd zero that allowed me to hold dead on for several 300yd. targets and hold over by 7" on one and under by 6" on others. Worked great even at 400yd. You just have to teach yourself to hold under as its easier than holding over with the reticle and post. Yes the triangle sucks for shooting 300 yard groups but it does work if you use a 3" black square outline target like this from US Palma http://uspalma.com/Targets/PDFs/LR%20BR%20Target.pdf
  22. Finally had a chance to quit grinning from ear to ear about a great match and do some typing. Aaron, Lee and all the AMU guys & gals did a fantastic job in creating a first class event that I will remember for a long time & grin every time I think about shooting it as my first major 3-gun match. I learned more in this one match than years of shooting locally. Stage 1 Sniper Hide made the wait worthwhile, shooting an M24 then my rifle on a whole bunch of self resetting Larues in that setting was a blast. The darn boat on stage 2 Patrol Boat River must have a spell on it to make shotguns malfunction. Or could it be they are called SHOTguns for a reason? Stage 6 Designated Marksman finally allowed me to stretch my rifles legs and shoot some long range rifle. I want way more long range in the future. How pure LR rifle with 500yd.+ shooting from the tower to make things interesting, with bonus targets by the tanks??? An MOR side match would be a blast. The pontoon bridge was a great idea, as was all 3 guns on stage 9, with speed, precision and power all rolled into 1 stage. Finally Meeting Linda and that "cute" blond Sandra started out the match weekend great. Linda, Sandra or Aaron e-mail me about the airline tickets a few months before next years match. I am already looking forward to next year. Thank you all.
  23. Just plug in your bullet weight, velocity and BC. www.eskimo.com/~jbm/calculations/traj/traj.html
  24. 24-25gr. H335 works well for me behind 50-55gr bullets. Accurate and easy to load. I am going to try out Ramshot X-Terminator behind some A-maxes, as H335 has a caustic smell & burns my eyes. Many people are also saying how clean it is, and its cheep also. By the way 700 v-max for $10---you suck.... If you decide to sell them just let me know.
