  1. Right handers pull low & to the left shooting double action. Try shootong higher & to the right fast double action to compensate....
  2. Use a long 1/4" drill bit centered to drill all the way. This will relieve the bullet from the barrel when struck. Never use wood....only a brass rod for a squib or you will a mess like this again...
  3. Ranch Products in Colorado!
  4. Are you using pliers to clip them into brand new full moon clips? My new brass is much more difficult to fill moonclips with than my older brass....
  5. I could run 1000 rnds through my gun before even scrubbing the cyl with a cotton brush! 130 gr Montana Gold .356 RN with 4.6 gr of Universal Clay's at 1.100" oal and a Federal Small Primer. This is my exact same load since 1997 with my 627s that both shoot well with a ton of miles on them.
  6. High humidity & lack of WD-40 or other anti humidity product. I bought 2 of these 9MM and tell out of love quickly & sold them both. Still have my 2 627s since 1997 running strong with 38 Colt Short. One gun has 120K+ have not replaced any parts but did add a +.00015 firing pin, Wolff Cylinder latch, & fiber optic front sight.
  7. Blade Tech has a great kydex holster! Used mine since 1998!
  8. I started IPSC in 1987 and stages were 6 ends per box Max maybe 12 ends & 3 stages. Then with the 10 rnd 38 Super 4 targets Nd 2 steel started showing up on every stage, again a match would be just 3 stages. Then it became arevolver Neutral stages which meant 6 ends before a reload but as soon as the Glock 17 appeared holding 18 ends. Stages were getting 24+ ends with mixed paper & steel. 3 stages became 5 stages at club matches but Area Championships would be 10-12 stages and Nats were 15+. I shot revolver since 1975 and still shoot revolver because it is fun. At 66 I know I am on the downhill side of shooting but my brakes are slowing me down as well as age. BTW, I also shoot Open with myCaspian 38 Super & 29 rnd mags then 3 Gun with a Benelli long tube SG holding 18, and an AR 15 with big mags. Never was I dumb or stubborn enough to shoot my revolvers when high capacity is the norm. Shoot for fun! If you think you are going to kick the big dogs butt at a Championship you will find the only butt that will be kicked is your own!
  9. Don't forget the real Revolver Matches are ICORE with their yearly big matches in San Luis Obispo, CA at the Hogue range.
  10. Having shot revolvers since 1976 in both PPC and USPSA matches I bought 2 629s. In 1998 & 99 I won USPSA Nationals with my 627 shooting 38 Colt Shorts in a very limited field excluding the King, Jerry.... I had extensive work done on both to shoot 9MM for USPSA, ICORE, & Steel Challenge. Needless to say my well shot 627 with 38 Colt Shorts felt better and shot better groups with more than 20 yrs of use and 120K down the shorter 5" bbl. I sold them both to a revolver shooting buddy who was starting out in revolver shooting for ICORE & SC who has since quit shooting revo and sold them.
  11. Watch the Master Jerry and heed his advice, nobody in the world has the hours behind a revo like the King does!
  12. I found that 38 Super (.356) Montana Gold 130 gr RN bullets work best in my 627 8 shot 38/357 loading Starline 38 Colt Short brass with 4.6 gr Univ Clays @ 1.100" and bullets never unseat & are super accurate out to 50 yds when I shoot PPC
  13. If you want really a clean burning powder so you wont have to scrub your cylinder even once in a 15 stage match use 38 Starline Colt Short brass, Federal small pistol primer and 4.6 gr of Universal Clays under a 356 Montana Gold 130 gr RN bullet at 1.100" OAL. This is accurate to 50 yds, makes minor @ 132PF and leaves no powder residue in cylinder whatsoever! I even shoot 50 yd PPC still with my 5" 627 and have 120K+ downrange and its a shooter!
  14. Great to see 75+ Revolver shooters in one place. I shot the Washington State Pistol Championship this year at the Custer Range near Lynden, WA with only 3 revo shooters and none of us were even squadded together
  15. I have the Hogue Rubber Mono-grip on all my 625s and 627s so that they feel the same. I do like the finger grooves as my hand has been use to this grip since they came out in the early 1990s
  16. Powers Custom also has PPC barrels I have their Grandmaster PPC gun from 1972 www.powerscustom.com

  18. Tim Norris of Pan Pacific made all my S&W 627 and Taurus 608 8 shot full moon clips of .022 EDM'd steel in 1996 & 1997 that I am still shooting with today. I believe Pan Pacific was a Company in Southern California and I learned of them from my Gunsmith, Mike Gurule who was with The Old Gun Shop (TOGS) Minimum purchases were 100 at a time but these were also much less than those sold today....
  19. 9 Major reloads I shoot on the Montana Gold Team & I have used Montana Gold 124 gr RN with HS-6 for my 9 Major and noticed a less snappy load over the 115s. 8.0 gr HS-6, 1.165" oal, CCI primer, any 9MM brass is 1375 fps in a 5-1/2" .355 bbl with a 4 port comp & groups great!
  20. There is nothing more accurate at PPC than 148 gr8 HBWC (lead) using 2.8 gr of 231 and a tight crimp with Starline 38 Special brass & a Federal Small pistol primer. 594/600 at the real distances of 24 rnds at 50 yds, 24 rnds at 25 yes, and 12 rnds at 7.5 yds
  21. 9x23 is bigger at the base than 38 Super, no reaming needed.
  22. My Caspian 38 Supers 8.0 gr Longshot, CCI Primer, MONTANA GOLD 130 gr RN .356 at 1.250" oal + 1330 fps Soft shooting and works my 4 port comp at a comfortable 173 PF at 2500 ft 11 lb recoil spring
  23. Cleanest load and most accurate I have been shooting this load for 10 years. Using 38 Colt Short with 130 gr Montana Gold 356 RN (I know, I know its for 38 Super) Fed Sm Primer, Starline Brass, 4.6 gr Universal Clays at 1.100" OAL I have 100K+ down the pipe and my 627 is still 100% reliable and accurate! I use to shoot PPC with the local PD and this is almost as accurate at 50 yds as my lead 148 gr HBWC in 38 Special with 2.8 gr of 231
  24. RePete has the load I have shot since 1974...with my Ron Powers Model 65 GrandMaster!
