  1. I’ve used flitz to get the carbon off my hard chromed Galil gas piston without any damage to the finish
  2. Not all coated bullets are the same I’ve shot thousands of blue bullets thru my open 38supercomp, there is a build up in the comp, but no way near as bad as some of the others here has experienced. The one way to minimize it in a open gun is to swab the comp with kroil after every shooting session and let it sit till the next time you shoot it. The kroil will soften and seep under the build up and the next time you shoot it the muzzle blast will blow the crud out. i don’t know if that would work for a PCC due to the lower muzzle pressure as far as the the advantages of coated vs plated vs jacketed, it really come down to cost per K in bulk Blue bullet preform about the same as fmj thru my gun and cost a little more than hard cast lead plated, I’ve never had any luck with Any of them and cost pretty damn close to precision delta jhp Jacketed, again look at PD, their case price Is around $90 per k, the last Black Friday sale had them for $78 a k
  3. It’s very stiff, not as stiff as a cr speed comp rig but It easily handle the weight of all the crap I had to have and the belt runs thru the buckle then doubles back secures with Velcro mall the years I used it it never loosened up
  4. I’m guessing you don’t need a dress belt, I used this for years before I retired https://unclemikes.com/reinforced-instructors-belt/
  5. I just pull the pins and pull the tool head and dump the powder back into the original container
  6. I ran into that years ago with 147’s, near as I could figure out not all cases are the same and some brands the bottom taper area was thicker and the longer 147’s would push out the case as it seated, creating a bulge on the bottom I remember dumping most of my brass and using federal and the problem went away
  7. Brownells is listing a 507CO with a 8 moa dot/dot-Circle reticle that show it back ordered, anyone got info on this model
  8. I have an old mclearn gun that he ground down the back strap and feels smaller than my other caspian frames Caspian made 4 different mags in 9mm/38 super old style blued, old style plated, 10 round and new style, of those I preferred the plates one, I could never get blued or 10 round mag to work. The large frame tanfogilio mags can be modified to work, but it takes a bit of work, Take down top right corner to clearance the overtravel ledge on the inside of the frame, top left, front area to clearance the slide stop, the back notch to clearance to disconnector rail and I open up the mag catch slot, then file down the front corners of extended base pads to clear the magwell if your worried about weight , I would check with caspian about the weight difference between their standard 3rd gen frame and the recon with the light rail
  9. Grip angle is the same or pretty damn close without grips the frame is thinner than any other double stack 1911 frame, but it feels longer front to back I've been running caspian frames longer then some of the guys on the forums have been alive, they’re great frames but the downside is getting good mags. the original plated mags were great, the new style mags were iffy, mbx is making mags now, and you can modify tanfogilio large frame mags to work
  10. PD are good bullets, I’ve never had any luck with Montana golds black Friday/ cyber Monday is coming up and both blue bullets and PD had a great sale last year, I would buy a sample pack to try then then buy in bulk when the sales come
  11. Add me to the list of people who never had a problem with blue bullets in open I’ve run thousands of 115 in my old supercomp at near 1500 fps and never had a problem with leading in the barrel i got some crud build up in the comp similar to running fmj but swabbing the inside with kroil and letting it sit there until the next time I shot it minimized it it does smoke a little but not enough to notice when I’m shooting
  12. Question for the guys that run one, how adjustable is the holster for different trigger guards, the description show for both plastic and metal 2011, anyone tried it with a caspian high cap?
  13. I ran the blue bullets 115’s in my super for a few years without problem compared to jhp they do smoke a little, but I never noticed it when I was shooting, and they do lead up the comp a little, about the same as fmj, but swabbing it with kroil after every session kept the buildup to a minimum i also started with the blue 125’s but to get my gun to shoot flat I was pushing it to about 178-180pf then I switched 115’s kept the same powder charge, the gun still made major, still shot flat and coincidentally was the same load as my 124 jhp which made it easy to switch when going to a major
  14. I ran a cmore like that for years
  15. Coming form a 10 round state I’d shoot it differently if the stage on the ground is the same as on paper, and it looks like most of the shots are fairly close i would go right or left to the 1st barrel take 3 targets, if you’re allowed to stow a mag do it while moving to the 2nd position and take 2 targets reload and go to the middle port take 1 steel, 2 targets, 2nd steel, 2 targets, reload from the stowed mag or next barrel 4th position, take 2 targets, move to the last position take 3
  16. There was a local shooter years ago who claimed he wasn’t rich because he worked for a living, bought both open and limited guns with the frame mounted safety in 356 TSW way back then the rule for limited major was if 3 manufacturers made ammo that made major, then it could be scored major well there were 2 and he was in the process of buying a production run from a 3rd ammo company when USPSA changed the rules to 40 cal minimum for limited major
  17. I ran the sidemore setup for a few years, then switched to the rts2 and prefer it it sits a tad higher and it clears the ejection like the 90, but it leaves the back of the slide accessible now almost all of my slide rides sit on PCCs
  18. An expensive magnet pouch, ah no i run a magnet on my belt and use it mainly for my make ready mag and the empty mag when I’m done as far as a 30 round limit, good luck enforcing that, other than running all 32 round field courses how many of you could keep track of only 30 rounds fired during a stage

    Acc-U-Rail

I’ve done it, it does tighten up the slide to frame fit if you do send it in, have them also refit the barrel
  20. I bought a racer years ago, the holster was ok, I hated the hanger with a passion As hard as I tried the holster would always go out of adjustment i recently got the alpha x racer hanger and retrofitted it to my old holster and the improvement is impressive, it stays in adjustment and transformed my old holster from a POS to
  21. We use a similar stand with the addition of a 4x4 on 1 end that’s drilled for a stake and we use 10” long nails that we get from Home Depot also unless you’re Superman, get a pick and use it like a claw hammer to pull the stakes
  22. I would rethink using a Schumann barrel for the simple reason that supply is very limited to nonexistent and if you ever decide to rebarrel the gun, the odds are against you finding one im in that boat now, I got a super that I want to rebarrel to 9 and I’ve pretty much given up finding one if your heart is set on a ribbed barrel, I would look at a svi or KKM
  23. Look for cracks on the body around the adjustment/lock screws
