  1. I'd guess the amazing difference in felt recoil has more to do with the grip of the SS - distributes the "recoil" over a larger area. Just a guess. When you load up some PF 135's for your SS, see if you can tell the difference between the PF 122's and PF 135's in the SS.
  2. Have you tried Glucosamine ? I know it definitely helped my wife - she took a few of them ten years ago, and felt quite a bit of relief. Might help, might not - might be worth a bottle of it to see if it helps your arthritis
  3. Yeah, it's Really Important to visually see the powder level in each and every case just prior to seating the bullet
  4. Yeah, me too. AND, I still visually check each cartridge as I load it into a mag
  5. FWIW, I've found the best way for ME to lose weight is to NOT try to lose weight. I tried for years to lose weight, and kept inching up a pound a month, or so - hopeless, and the more I tried to lose weight, the more frustrated I got Then the doctor told me my liver and gall bladder were full of fat, and I should have my gall bladder removed, and I became pre-diabetic, about 10-12 years ago. I stopped trying to lose weight, and started trying to eat healthy ... Wanted to save my liver, gall bladder and NOT become diabetic. So, I cut carbs way down, as well as fats. Didn't realize it, but my next visit to the MD and the RN told me I had lost 15 lbs since my last visit To "EAT HEALTHY", you have to accept some unpleasant truths: 1. you have to eat healthy forever (okay, you can cheat a bit one day every 1-2 weeks) 2. you have to accept the fact that you will be hungry most of the day, especially for the first week or two. BUT, that's okay, if you think about it - what's wrong with being hungry ? 3. NO SNACKS, EVER. 4. no sugar, ever (okay, 1x/week) 5. no fatty meats (hot dogs, hamburgers, salami, liverwurst). 6. cut down on the cheese, butter and NO ice cream - okay, 1x /week in small amounts. 7. Eat whole grains (have to carefully read the label, or you'll end up with white bread that looks like whole wheat - think Pumpernickel or Rye, e.g.) For ME, it was better to go cold turkey rather than inching in - rather than eliminating or cutting back a little at a time, I stopped ALL of it - no sugar, meat or fat EVER, and drank ONLY WATER. After I got my weight down to where it should be, and was feeling much better, then I added a few things back in to my diet, and "cheated" a bit more than at first. Still a struggle, 10 years later, but I feel better at 73 than I did at 60
  6. I don't blame you - makes a LOT of sense. BUT : 1. real good argument for a backup gun - you can send one in and keep on shootin' 2. Probably don't need to send it out, at all - just change the OAL on your cartridge, so that particular bullet fits your particular chamber
  7. In reloading NOTHING ever stays The Same You'd probably have to change only the OAL - but I'd check the PF before heading off to a big match.
  8. You might also want to check out the new 1 - 8 x scopes, while you're updating
  9. I always run 20 rounds thru the chrono, and I want ALL of them to meet PF
  10. Not being a wise guy, just wondering - from their website, it seems like the EGA's are 30% more money than PD's ? Are they that good? or am I missing a discount ?
  11. Excellent salad dressing, with a little olive oil
  12. I wouldn't drop down that much - if your Max is 1.130", I'd bring it down to about 1.125" (- 0.005 ").
  13. Good way to do it - I still wait at least an hour or two before I reload
  14. Thanks for the heads up - never even considered it. Hope your son convalesces rapidly
  15. Depends on how you spray. Get that stuff inside the case, and fill up the powder before it dries, and you just might have problems. Just a thought
  16. Great, Grump. Looks like a 6" group at 65 yards - have the scope turned up to 8x ?
  17. WOW !!! That's the first sensible thing I've read on this topic since the last shooting (or actually for the past 20 years) Thanks for the great tip
  18. Bon giorno Welcome aboard (sorry, don't know how to say that in Italian). I wasn't aware that most of Europe would allow that number of firearms in a collection sounds promising. Do you ever get to visit the United States, or have any relatives here ?
  19. Great idea, but NOT worth the effort And, I'd have to twist them during our infamous Summer, not our wonderful Winter
  20. I can see (possibly) firing a .22 inside your home using a book or two as a backstop, BUT, a 9 mm ?
  21. Looks like the answer to your first question is #2. above. BUT, you're correct, of course. Once your Plunk Test determines the Maximum OAL, you have to shorten that by a bit to ensure proper feeding
