Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. This. It seems people aren't looking quite closely enough. The trigger does indeed have a pivot point at top to bring it within compliance (walther people feel free to confirm) If the videos are any indication of how clean the trigger is, Walther just flipped the script on the Production/ Carry Optics divsions. The triggers look so good that there is now a solid case to be made for the PPQ trigger overtaking the CZ or Tanfo DA/SA trigger as THE competitive advantage when it comes to triggers. I have a Steel frame gun on order already and as soon as they will let me the Expert trigger is going into it.
  2. When I called walther their tech support guy said 48-50N....feels heavier than that though.
  3. If you like your Poly gun and shoot it well they is no objective reason to spend over double the price to the steel gun. You can add weight in the form of guide rods to make the poly gun hop a little less. The steel gun doesn't shoot any better per se, it's just different. It comes down to whether or not you place more priority to a neutral shooting gun that hops a bit more (poly) or a heavy wobbly gun that hops up a bit less (steel) The Steel frame gun and Poly gun shoot more similar than different to each other. That being said, the steel frame and removable grip fit my hand so much better than the Poly gun that I will have to buy the steel frame gun. The steel frame gun also has more clearance around the top of the trigger guard which is crucial to me.
  4. Clean work. The replaceable panel on the Steel frame leaves more options for unique hand configurations. I will design some grips for it probably.
  5. This is the polarizing thing about "ergonomic guns". They either work for people, or they absolutely get in the way. Glocks have always worked well for me and I never understood why people complained about the groves and such....then I held a PPQ and I absolutely hated everything about the grip. I immediately took a dremel to it and ground down all the fancy "ergonomic features ". I removed the palm swell, finger groves, undercut, softened the corners of the tang..everything. Now the gun is more shootable for me I think guns that lack finger grooves have a better chance of working for more people and not rubbing someone the wrong way. However when they work out for you they can feel nice. For example when I hold a Glock 17 or a P30 I'm like "frick this feels good" The walther steel gun fits my hand much better. I should have bought that one off the get.
  6. Shot the Q5 poly and Q5 Steel frame next to each other today. Poly gun has a quicker departure off Target or more "hop" with significantlty less muzzle dip. Steel gun recoils up slower but has lots of muzzle wobble and dip. Steel frame gun needs aftermarket recoil spring options bad. Steel frame fits hand better due to new shape, removal of finger grooves and grip panels. If I can get the steel gun to not bounce around up front so much I'll be quite happy.
  7. Glock, Bomar, anything. I'm really curious as to why they went this route. Then again there aren't OEM style recoil springs for this gun yet so...
  8. Yeah I just ordered a .195" tall front blade x .100" wide to get that crisp front sight that I'm used to on my other guns. Is there a Walther Rep that frequents here that can give me some insight into the rear sight situation and what their plans where by doing this?
  9. That's my backup plan in case I can't find one. I was trying to avoid having to put work into the gun and solve the problem with a CC purchase. However alas this is going to require some fiddling.
  10. Thank you. Unfortunately they aren't available at my local stores so I picked up the polymer gun for now. I really wish I could shoot on of the steel guns. Is the SF gun any thinner in the beavertail area. The issue I have with the Polymer grip is that it spreads my hands apart up top too much causing my hand to get pushed down and cam sideways.
  11. Does anyone make a replacement rear sight for the Walther Q5 match. The OEM sight leaves much to be desired for as far as sight picture and notch depth goes. I'd really like a Dawson rear for it however for some god forsaken reason the Q5 match does not use a PPQ dovetail cut. Taken from the owners manual "The dovetail cut for the rear sight is a 12mm x 2mm x 70° LPA cut. The height of the front sight is 0.21” (5.3 mm)." is this dovetail cut similar to any other common rear sight that I can possibly modify?
  12. Thank you for your observations. Have you shot the Polymer Q5 Match next to the SF. The shorter Q4 guns and regular PPQ are significantly more jumpy than even the Polymer Q5 match.
  13. Has anyone shot the Q5 Match next to the Q5 SF that can give us an idea of how the recoil impulses compare? I have a sneaking suspecion that polymer guns absorb recoil pretty well and wanted to compare that to the steel gun. (Note: I'm aware people that are sponsored by Walther say the SF gun is "so much flatter and faster", however I wan't an unbiased subjective option"
  14. I like your style. That Q5 slide is THICCCCC. Gives me...ideas. There is a used 5" for sale near me cheap I might have to toy around with.
  15. This. People seem to forget this. The interesting questions then would be as to why they made the Q5 Match have a heavier slide in a gun that will probably be shooting lighter loads.
