Can anyone here give me some input on using the Stoeger M3000 as a beginner getting involved with 3-Gun? While it's made in Turkey and not Italy, at around $450.00 is seems like a tremendous buy compared to the Benellis which share the Inertial Operating System. It comes in a 26" barrel which would be legal for 3-Gun matches here locally. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I learned the basics of marksmanship from the Army and went to a couple USPSA matches in 2016. I took a five year break from competitive shooting due to work and getting heavily involved with Jiu Jitsu. I'm still in the Army and train jiu jitsu... However, I caught the shooting bug last month and I've been competing almost every weekend, reading Ben Stoeger's book series (along with signing up for his 30-31OCT class), watched Keith Garcia's 3 gun DVD, waiting on Jerry Miculek’s 3 gun DVD, bought a Mantis X 10 etc. I plan on hopefully competing in the 2021 ALL ARMY MATCH –US ARMY SMALL ARMS CHAMPIONSHIPS 14-20 March I'll include my gear list and pictures below.. I recently bought a Sig P320 X5. I love the look and feel but I'm worried with some of the barrel/slide fit issues I've seen that have been causing accuracy issues. I've messaged a few people on this forum to get their thoughts on it. I am now very tempted to get a match barrel fitted from The Sig Armorer (along with his trigger). Here are the results of my zero range. Apologies if this is already answered elsewhere - I did a search, and found this question asked a couple of times, but couldn't find an answer for the life of me... I recently picked up a Supernova for the remaining matches/rulesets that require a pump gun in Heavy. I didn't quite do all of the research that I'd normally do, because this was kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing (a Gunbroker auction that was running lower than usual that I unexpectedly won). So, now that it's on the way, I have some questions about how to get it set for competition. My arms being a little on the short side, I typically run a shorter LOP on shotgun stocks than is common on stock guns. I've found that the LOP on the "compact" versions of Benelli and Stoeger models (both have the same LOP) is just about perfect for me. As near as I can tell, Benelli does not produce a compact 12 ga. version of the Supernova. They make a compact 20 ga. Supernova and a compact 12 ga. M2, but that's about it. That goes for aftermarket stocks as well - I can find compact stocks for a 12 ga. M2 or a 20 ga. Supernova, but that's the closest I can find to what I'd need. I could always just hack off a bit of the stock... uh, stock... and honestly might just wind up doing that anyway, given how pricey the Benelli replacement parts tend to be, but before committing to that, I might as well make sure I know what my options are. So... will an M2 stock fit on a Supernova? And/or will a 20 ga. Supernova stock fit on a 12 ga. Supernova?

I've been having some issue with my main match gun. I started noticing it when I was testing some other unrelated matters, basically doing "bursts" or mag dumps. Since it was doing it then, I assumed I was "out running" the trigger, because it would be dead, the hammer uncocked. But after a bit of fiddling and more rounds, I realized that wasn't it at all, because it will sometimes do it when I fire a single shot. The odd thing (to me) is when it happens, I end up with a shell on the carrier. It's ghost loading itself. I end up with a live shell in the chamber, a shell on the carrier, shells in the tube... and an uncocked hammer. I know it's a shell latch issue because it does it with other trigger groups in the gun as well. I've had latch issues in that past, modifying them just a touch too much, or enough so that they don't last anyway. But what I don't understand is why the hammer wouldn't be cocked? For a shell to eject and live one to chamber, they bolt obviously travels far enough rearward to cock the hammer. If it were a sear engagement issue / hammer follow, it would be isolated to the one trigger group, but it's not. Anyone seen this behavior before?

Hey all. I have 2 questions if like to get some info on. I have a Benell I M1 Super90 with a 21" vent rub barrel and a + 4 Nordic mag extension on it. I've only out about 200 rounds thru it since turning it into a Home Defense of 3-gun type shotgun. I haven't shot more cause none of the ranges here in the Houston area will allow me to shoot it unless I shoot ONLY SLUGS. No practice ammo shooting sessions here so I'm pretty much screwed on the shooting until I find a friendly range. The only complaint I have is that the recoil can be really painful at times even with the 100 round practice ammo boxes. I have heard the Limbsaver fitted butt pads work well. Have any of you tried one of these pads? I'd like to get some recommendations on what the best solution for me to make this shotgun somewhat enjoyable to shoot would be please Lastly, I know many really like the Stoeger M3000 shotguns for 3-gun and home defense type duty. I've never handled one. How do you think they compare or match up to my M1 Super 90 as I have it now? Which would you rather have and why? Since Stoeger is owned by Benelli I am guessing it has the inertia operating system in them like the Benelli autos do. Is it the same system or are there differences? I have a new Benelli M1 that has the field 24" barrel. I've noticed when put pressure on the barrel, it shifts in the receiver. I've tightened down the magazine nut as tight as possible, but the barrel still flexes. Any ideas?

I recently switched out springs on my 1991 Benelli M1 to the TTI springs, I switched all of them with the goal of lowering the weight of the trigger pull. That said, I believe the trigger return spring is affecting my trigger abnormally as it often resets with a two-stage feel. Upon removing the entire trigger group, I'm noticing the hammer is getting caught making it feel like a two stage, and not a one stage trigger. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? My first thought is to install a stock benelli trigger return spring again, but if there is a fix out there I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

I just got my open shotgun. Haven't had a chance to shoot it due to an Injury but this week I am feeling it will happen. It's a 21" Benelli m2 with xrail(26rd) and couple other mods. What ammo are u guys using? I am down to try a bunch of different ones but want to narrow it down while purchasing. I currently use federal cheap stuff in my 26" m2 set up for practical and Winchester hp deer slugs 1600fps with good luck. So I will try those. But let me know what u guys run. Thanks

Port Loading W/ Stage Saver Jam Question Benelli M2

So I have a taccom stage/match saver I recently installed on my m2 and having done a lot of practice with it I have realized a problem and was wondering if anyone had a working solution. The issue is if the shell is loaded and the shotgun is pointed in a downward angle the shell goes forward under the chamber causing a jam. The top of the shell cant lift up as its hitting the bottom of the chamber. It seems this is just a downside to this loading operation? Is it just normal practice for you to point the barrel up when doing a port load? I can see this type of jam ruining a stage. Thanks! -
Sometimes when I hit the bolt release, my M2 won't drive the bolt forward - particularly when I've run the shotgun dry and I'm using the matchsaver. It is almost as if the bolt release is "stuck" ....it doesn't depress at all. This doesn't happen every time, but it is happening more and more. Background - my m2 has a C-rums welded lifter, lightened bolt, opened loading port, extended charging handle, and extended bolt release button. The shell catch hasn't been modified except for the extended bolt release button installation. I have maybe 5,000 - 6,000 rds thru the gun. I'm wondering if I need to replace some springs? Ive never replaced any of the springs. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'd like to ask for advice before I go and start an extravaganza of polishing parts. I ran into an issue at a match where the bolt on my M2 locks back shooting slugs (1 ounce, 1500 FPS). Pressing the bolt release does nothing and the gun has to essentially be mortared to clear the jam. I took the gun apart to check for issues. So far I have confirmed the recoil spring and recoil tube are clean and devoid of any gunk. With the trigger group out, the bolt slides back and forth with force and speed, smooth as silk. When I put the trigger group back in the gun and try to cycle the bolt, the bolt hangs at the rear of the recoil cycle. Similarly, when I lock the bolt to the rear using the cartridge drop lever and then release the bolt forward using the bolt release, the bolt very slowly starts moving forward, then about half way through the cycle the bolt goes forward more quickly like it normally should. Additionally, after pressing the bolt release and as the bolt slowly starts to move forward, the carrier will sometimes stall in the upward position and have to be gently tapped down to allow the bolt to continue forward. I used a marker to look for potential binding points between trigger group components and the bolt. It appears the bolt is contacting the front face of the hammer (hammer was locked back prior to insertion of the bolt for troubleshooting) and the front face of the breech bolt latch, both of which seem normal. The surfaces of the bolt contacting these two points also had ink removed due to contact. Visually, none of the surfaces had any burrs, excessive crud or rocks wedged in them. Has anyone ran into a similar issue? I found a couple threads from 2010 with similar issues but those were recoil spring related or solved via sending a bolt in to a gunsmith. Maybe someone could point me in another direction other than polish a couple parts and hopefully smooth out the contacting surfaces?

The match is August 6-8, 2015 at Rockcastle Shooting Center. Competitors should plan to be at the Rock all day on the 7th and 8th. Staff will be shooting on Thursday the 6th, when competitors may view stages that are not occupied with staff. 14 stages, approximately ~270 rounds (bird, buck and slugs). 4 Short courses, 4 medium courses, 5 long courses and 1 really long course of 50+ rounds. At this time, I am planning about 50 rounds each of buckshot and slugs total in the match. 13 stages will be in compliance with the 2015 IPSC shotgun rules: http://www.ipsc.org/...ulesShotgun.pdf which will also define equipment rules for Open, Standard and Standard Manual Division. We are also offering an "Outlaw" division which will use the USPSA Tac-Ops shotgun division rules. Equipment checks will be conducted at check-in in a manner similar to what will occur at WorldShoot on the afternoon of the 6th. No competitor will be allowed to commence competition prior to equipment check in any of the IPSC divisions. On the 14th stage of 50+ rounds, Open competitors will be allowed to ignore the division magazine restrictions of the IPSC ruleset and Standard and Standard manual will be allowed to ignore the dimensions and locations related to caddies and shells carriers of the IPSC ruleset. For Open, I see no reason why magazines can not be blocked to be in compliance with the IPSC Open division rules. If you are trying to decide between Standard and Outlaw, these rules might help some of you decide: 5.2.3 Unless otherwise specified in the written stage briefing the competitor’s equipment belt carrying cartridges (in caddies, loops, clips, bags or pouches) and/or detachable magazines and/or speed loaders must be worn at waist level. “Chest-rigs”, bandoliers and similar carriers are expressly prohibited. Additional ammunition carriers mounted on forearms are permitted provided that cartridges are carried individually in loops or clips. 5.2.5 When carried in loops, clips or caddies no part of any cartridge is permitted to extend further than 75mm from a competitor's body. Cartridges carried on the gun are exempt and loose cartridges carried in a pouch or bag are usually exempt from this rule. The Range Master’s decision will be final in this matter. Open Division competitors are exempt from this rule. 5.2.5.1 The measurement is to be taken while the competitor is standing naturally upright. If you have entered a IPSC division and can not pass equipment check, you can adjust your gear or opt to be moved to Open or Outlaw. Hello all. I would like to hear from those who currently own, plan to own, or even just contemplating owning a Benelli Vinci or Super Vinci. We are currently developing an extended Bolt Catch, Bolt Handle, and Safety for the Vinci. I know i have heard so many people asking about them and have been seeing more and more of the Vinci models on the racks at matches. I personally shoot a Vinci and am in love. If you fall into one of the categories above please reply with whether or not you would be interested and if one of the three items is more appealing please specify that as well. Thanks!!!! -
Does anyone know if Benelli M4 hammers are interchangeable with the Nova/Supernova? Geissele makes a 922r replacement hammer and I am wondering if it works in the Benelli pump action shotguns. They look extremely similar except the M4 has an extra catch that it needs being a semi-auto. I plan on putting a shotgun together and new mag tube, follower, and a hammer would bring it into compliance from what I have checked. Yeah, i am by the book... Thanks, -G_B -
I am going to be setting up a Open Benelli M2 with an xrail for the 2015 3 gun season. I am looking for some input on an optic that will be reliable for the long haul. What are the hot optics right now? What do you use? or what have you seen be popular?

I was looking around and thinking about picking up a used Benelli M1 or M2 to set up for 3 gun. I was on Nordic's website and it looks like they share a magazine extension and bolt handle, Which leaves me with a few questions: 1. Are other parts (stocks,barrels,etc) interchangable between the models? 2. Were there any major issues with the M1 that were fixed by moving to the M2? 3. For $700 or a little less for low mileage looking M1's does it seem worth it or just get the M2? Thanks in advance for you help

As a new Vinci owner, I looked for how people may have opened their loading port for 3-Gun competition. I found a few photos, but nothing about the process. I am looking to shorten the LOP on my Benelli M2 so today when I took the butt pad off I saw what looks like a second set of snaps 1" in from the end of the stock. Looking at the outside of the stock there is a visible line where this second set of 'snaps' is. Could it be as easy as just cutting off 1" and popping the butt pad back in? I did some measurements and it looks like the second set of snaps has the same width, but maybe 1/4" shorter, maybe the butt pad can conform to that? Any advice or suggestions appreciated. Mike

I hit a local shotgun match this weekend. It was the first time I've had my M2 out since last fall. Now, this is a gun that has a little under 4k rounds through it and has never had any feeding/firing issues. Before the match I did a quick field strip. The gun was still clean from last fall, the bolt and carrier looked fine, and I reoiled it to get ready for the match. On the very first stage, the first shot was click-no-bang. I limped through the stage with about every third shell misfiring. The ammo was what I always use—Winchester AA Light Target #8 birdshot and Fiocchi 7/8oz Aero slugs. I found several of the discards on the ground and saw they had extremely light dimples from the firing pin. Okay, well, I stripped the BCG down completely, expecting to find the firing pin channel gunked up. In fact, it seemed fine. There was no obvious gunk, and the pin was moving fairly freely through the bolt. It doesn't seem like it was a cleaning/oiling issue. I'll take it out in a couple of days to see if that fixed it, but... I am a little worried that it went from zero problems to basically unshootable. If the more thorough cleaning doesn't help, what else am I looking it? From previous threads, I would guess the next step is replacing the hammer spring (which nobody has in stock and, according to Midway, won't be available for shipping for two more months!) or, maybe, the recoil spring if the issue is bolt bounce. Am I missing anything else? Any other suggestions?

Has anyone ever heard of Advantech Precision? I found a carbon fiber mag tube that you can get for Supernovas, which I haven't been able to find anywhere else. If anyone's ever used it, is it garbage? It's 150 bucks with the clamp included, which is way more than the Nordic, but the cool guy/GO FAST factor is undeniable.

I just picked up a 22" Versa Max for 3 gun to replace my 28" wood Benelli Super Black Eagle. I had Jeff @ C-Rums weld the lifter on the Benelli. I've heard that the trigger groups are very close to interchangeable but use different pins for the reciever connection. I was able to swap the lifers and they seem to be the same dimensions and fit very well. QUESTION to the group: Has any one done this? If so is it working ok?

I have just ordered a Benelli M4 and want to add a full-length (one piece) magazine tube. I have read conficting comments on whether this is a modification to be done by a novice or gunsmith. I certainly don't want to somehow damage my new new gun. I would appreciate any feedback from anyone knowledgable on this modification. I am considering either a CarrierComp or Freedom Fighter tube, but am open to others' opinions. I would also would appreciate any comments/recommendations on a replacement charging handle and FFT's trigger package. Sorry for so many questions. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and advice on this.
