Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. It is called “OnTarget Precision Calculator” and can be found at https://ontargetshooting.com It’s really quick and easy to do. I just take a picture with my phone and it takes less than 30 seconds per picture to do on my computer when I get home. My only complaints are 1. It is PC only software so I can’t use it on my phone or MacBook. At the end of the range day I have to go home and then analyze my pictures. I’ve thought about downloading an iPhone app to get quicker feedback. 2. You can’t change the font size of the results. You can change the size and color of the lines so I don’t understand why the text has to stay so small. I’ll be reaching out to the company this week about that.
  2. I learned the basics of marksmanship from the Army and went to a couple USPSA matches in 2016. I took a five year break from competitive shooting due to work and getting heavily involved with Jiu Jitsu. I'm still in the Army and train jiu jitsu... However, I caught the shooting bug last month and I've been competing almost every weekend, reading Ben Stoeger's book series (along with signing up for his 30-31OCT class), watched Keith Garcia's 3 gun DVD, waiting on Jerry Miculek’s 3 gun DVD, bought a Mantis X 10 etc. I plan on hopefully competing in the 2021 ALL ARMY MATCH –US ARMY SMALL ARMS CHAMPIONSHIPS 14-20 March I'll include my gear list and pictures below.. I recently bought a Sig P320 X5. I love the look and feel but I'm worried with some of the barrel/slide fit issues I've seen that have been causing accuracy issues. I've messaged a few people on this forum to get their thoughts on it. I am now very tempted to get a match barrel fitted from The Sig Armorer (along with his trigger). Here are the results of my zero range. I shot sitting and supported the weapon on the table and still generally bounced between 3-5" at 20 yards using 124 grain freedom munitions remanufactured ammo. https://imgur.com/a/s2YrdYd Gear List: https://imgur.com/a/MGzwluu Production Pistol: Sig P320 X5 Legion. Stock. Recently purchased. Will transition this pistol to Carry Optics in March of 2022 Carry Optics Pistol: Glock 34. 3. Bumping because I bought a legion this week and experienced the same accuracy/precision and barrel fitment issue. I got better grouping out of my issued M17 than my personally owned X5 Legion. I'm trying to figure out what the cause is... whether it is me or the weapon. I am now very tempted to get a barrel fitted from The Sig Armorer (on top of his competition trigger). Here are the results of my zero range. I shot sitting and supported the weapon on the table and still generally bounced between 3-5" at 20 yards using 124 grain freedom munitions remanufactured ammo. https://imgur.com/a/s2YrdYd
  4. I am in the Army and I will be in NY for about 16 more months. I am a male in my 20s and consider myself a tactical/self-defense shooter first and use competition to drive myself to get better. Currently going through NY CCL process. I look forward to shooting competitively in any way I can (USPSA, IDPA, 3 gun / multigun etc.) I research the hell out of anything before deciding... I currently own a Glock 19 Gen 4 (it's my do everything handgun right now... competition, ccw etc) and I have been in the talks with Mike Cyrwus about ordering a Benelli M2 w/ an Accurate Iron race package this weekend. For 3 gun I believe that the Tactical division would be the best fit for me? Future purchases? -An AR15 and a "battle rifle". I am the most familiar with the AR15/M4/M16 family due to familiarity through training/time. However, I fell in love with the SCAR 17 (upgrade on power and a battle rifle's durability, ruggedness, and versatility).. but I need an AR15 to compete or I'll be at a disadvantage in anything other than the heavy division (I'll just end up getting both when I move to another post). -I really like the FNX-45 Tactical and the H&K 45 USP Tactical -A .22 rifle so I can plink -Possibly another nicer end performance pistol -A precision rifle. I've been eyeing rifles from GA Precision. 338 has caught my attention. Won't be getting this one for about 2 years though. Things I may need help with right now? 1. Finding Competitions - I have found a few using online and in person resources. I'm looking for competitions during the next year... specifically for 13-22MAR, 14MAY-late july, and then any cool competitions I should keep an eye out for 01SEP2015-04JAN2016. I'm willing to travel. My first preference would be in the NY or new england area, second would be KS/MO or FL, but if a competition looks great I'll travel anywhere in the U.S. and make a trip out of it. 2. Feeding/caring for the M2 - I'm not familiar as to what is top quality in target and self-defense ammo for 12 guage (I'm sure Mike would help if I had thought to ask) 3. Acquiring a rifle - I figured that I may be able to borrow a rifle at my first few competitions. I'm a good talker and I would be willing to bring my ammo and everything ha! I won't buy a rifle until I know what I want. I'm unfamiliar with what is top quality in the rifle category... so far from what I can tell I should look for an 18" from JP Rifles? I'm open to anything though! I like setting my self up for success so I'm not afraid to shell out for quality. I live an active bachelor life so I have the freedom/time to do what I want (when the Army lets me free) haha
