DBChaffin
Although not yet on the USPSA website, I have read that the 2009 USPSA Handgun Nationals will be held at the Desert Sportsman's Club in Las Vegas, NV, September 12th-20th. I am not sure how the divisions will be separated at this time or which will be held first. Is this correct? Anyone have any additional info? Thanks. ChuckS
Finally, my first nats! There is a problem, though: September dates have an average rainfall of 0.31" This will probably require the mud to be trucked in Later, Chuck

dirty whiteboy
No rain in LV, but how are the temps there. I have been there in the winter and summer, but not in Sept. I know, I know it is a dry heat. Well so is my oven but 110 is still hot.

DBChaffin
I was lazy before and didn't look the link back up, but all of the interest makes me concerned that I might be posting false info. So, I dug around and found it. It is mentioned here on the January 2009 Arkansas Section Newsletter just above the list of names on the second page: http://casarange.com/arsection/newsletter/...tter_012009.pdf David Hyden is the Deputy SC and he was the Match Director for the Nationals in 2008, so I assumed that's how the Arkansas Section got its info. If it is incorrect, I apologize for causing a stir. I was really looking for confirmation or additional information myself. VegasOPM
There will be the Handgun Nationals at Desert Sportsman's on the west edge of Vegas and the Multigun Nationals at Desert Lakes on the east edge of town (Multigun is pending final approval). Red Rock Station Hotel and Casino is about 5 minutes from the range for the Handgun Nats and Railroad Pass Casino is about 9 minutes from the range for Multigun. Plenty of retaurants within 10 minutes of DS, but more like 20 minutes from DL. The Strip hotels are about 20-30 minutes from each range. Desert Sportsman's is a nice facility, albeit kind of primitive. No running water and minimal electrical. There are about 20 <75 yd bays and several longer rifle ranges. Plenty of parking. It is about 5 miles from Red Rock Canyon wildlife area- which has great hiking and rock climbing. Desert Lakes is a beautiful facility with a great clubhouse including a really nice bar (after you are done shooting of course). There are fewer bays right now, but they are working on that. It is about 10 miles from Hoover Dam. I am a longtime Vegas resident and member of both ranges, so feel free to PM with questions. I can even give you insight on which shows to see or clubs to visit.
