  1. I have one of these and am very disappointed with all of it. Won't range anything over 900yds. Might do a coyote at 400........maybe. Deer aren't much better. I ussally range something close by that is MUCH bigger and then go from there. The TBR stuff doesn't work with any of the match ammo you buy over the counter unless you have a zero more than 100yds. And doesn't for my handloads or Hornady superformance 308 stuff either. Useless for my rifle setup. LED display way too bright in low light conditions even on the low setting. Bright is really bright in daylight though, maybe to bright. Range button hard to press and not in a comfortable spot for me. I just don't like it. IMO over priced for what you get. Yes I know this an old post. but thats my take on this LR. YMMV
  2. Thanks guys. I put the trigger kit in last night and took a good look in the frame and can't see why a MK II mag won't work.
  3. Seems everyone is out'a stock on Ruger 22/45 MkIII mags. Will the MkII 22/45 mags work? I have the Volquartzin MkII trigger kit coming. Will changing out the mag safety let me use the MkII mags? Thanks Tony
  4. Van sorry to step on your post. I was adding some info that others might have wanted. Guess it wasn't expected or needed.
  5. I agree Sarge. I got different info than you on the magwell is in or out. It's not the first time I've heard the " I was told this and this guy was told that". It is sad that rules are written and then the loopholes are brought to light. Of course this is just my opinion.
  6. I got that from Amidon. He stated that the magwell was a add-on part. The theory is that someone could make the magwell extend back as far as they wanted so that they could drop the height of the holstered gun down. I don't find anywhere stating the measurement is to the magwell. I am going off what I was told by the DNROI. Troy may have a different take on it. YMMV And yes I know magwells aren't allowed in production.
  7. For further clarification. Guns with magwells, the magwell is not the heel of the gun. Also check that you are less than 2 inch from the inside of the inner most belt to the firearm. I see a lot of holsters NOT in compliance with this rule.
  8. Wouldn't it be great if this division was for what we actually carry. And with the way we carry concealed.
  9. The ones we demo'd for Nosler where built by Weatherby. Very nice wood and composite stock'd rifles. That's where I'd check. I have the very first kill with the 26 Nosler. Took a goundhog at 113 yds with the wood stocked rifle. The Nosler guys where very excited. Took the top of the head clean off and blew out most of the teeth. Head shot right behind the eye.
  10. Eric Fuson shot 9mm. So he had better have been minor. My ammo chrono'd pretty much same as at home. And it almost does every time. Couple WTH's over 20 years, but never enough to go minor or sub minor. AAA has (IMO) been shown to not make their published FPS. The chrono is tested each and everyday at the match with several different gun/ammo combos. BTW. no need to blame the Chrono when most everyone else made declared PF. Test your match ammo before you go.
  11. Amidon uses 147 JHP ammo for calibration. I personally believe that calibration ammo should be loaded with a lighter bullet like 115 gr. That ammo would carry the less muzzle energy down range. THe 147 loads will knock over poppers that 115's at the same PF won't. YMMV
  12. Like there was any question that the 1911 might have been dead. Oh, and this match doesn't take the better part of a week to get through. BTW the Revo guys are limited to just 1 day. So that does kinda limit the numbers for them.
  13. Graham, Start talking to the guys with bikes. Ask them questions about anything you want. Most riders/bikers will be happy to share their knowledge. My first bike was a used '85 Honda V65 Magna. I still have the bike and ride it a lot. I have added several aftermarket things to make it fit me and my riding style better. The things I added really made it MUCH more comfortable to ride, even on Ironbutt type rides. I also have a '90 Goldwing 1500 SE. Both bikes have there place for me. The V65 is great for short or medium trips and lighter to maneuver in traffic and parking lots. The Wing is the best at long trips and can carry all you would ever want. I ride everyday once the temps get above 40/45. I don't mind riding in the rain as I have great rain gear. Look for a comfy seat. Most OEM seats suck for comfort. Don't rule out older bikes. You can get them on the cheap, and certain makes and models still have lots of aftermarket goodies available. Do you want a wind screen? You won't get much of a wind screen on any sport bike. Touring models yes, but then the price goes up quite a bit. Also look at what features, or lack of features come on the bike. You would be surprised at what is not available on some bikes that really should be included. You can buy a used bike for 3K or less, ride it for a while and then sell it. Probably get most of your money back or more. This may get you a much better idea about what kind of bike really fits you. I have gone through 4 different helmets. Full face, modular, and 3/4. The full face is hot and much bulkier. The modular is the same but offers you the option to flip it up. I like mine, but I found I rode with it up more than down so I now have a 3/4 Nolan R43. I ride long rides and this lets me drink on the go. I don't recommend 1/2 helmets, unless you are just puttin' around town. Get a comfy helmet......or you'll hate wearing. Find a bike that you can comfortably sit on and get off the stand. If you can't flat foot it, it's probably is too big for a beginner. I'm 5'8" and I can just flat foot the Wing. YMMV
  14. Didn't Jake Kempton have a AR made to be a bolt gun? I swear that some one showed up to one of the 3 Gun Nats one year with a bolt AR to use in the manual rifle match.
  15. Oh no!! So sorry to hear this. Prayers sent.
  16. I've shot a lot of that back in the '90's. Worked great in my 38 super open guns.
  17. The Slantpro is just one of Heinies sight styles. The Straight Eight is a tritium night sight set up. Gonna need more info on what type of shooting you are going to do. If you don't need the night sights why speed the extra coin. I use Heinie sights on all my Glocks. Some are Slantpro and some are the original style. He makes the Ledge that has a wider notch.
  18. 246 listed competitors. I'd say at least 125 short.
  19. As Jake has pointed, a turn key match works very well. We have been doing that for the SSC/SSN for years. We built it and fix anything they don't like before the staff shoots. I personally would rather they run the Revo match first. That way any staff wanting to shoot Revo can. Just keep the stages the same for both matches. As for the 2014 combined Nationals, I have always thought that should be the way to run it. Less travel and extra expenses for the staff and USPSA crew. pick your gun and run it. Watered down competition.......maybe, but I think you will find tough competition is all divisions. I say they need at least 30 stages to make it worth going to though. USPSA Nationals should rival any WS. Also I'd hope they figure a way to slot it for at least 700 competitors. Staff would need 2 days to shoot the match too.
  20. Thanks Mike. I will check it out. For me and what I want the scope to do mil/mil is the way to go.
  21. SWFA Super Sniper 10x. Either side focus or rear focus. You can get most of your money back if you do ever want to move it. But I doubt you would. External knobs and you can reset them. No Zero stop though. Side focus is like $100 more. I have both and have no need for anything else.........well a high end 5-20x would be sweet. Surf www.snipershide.com . They have them used on there from time to time. And they go quick. But be prepared to spend close to new price. Edit to add. Mine are mil dot reticle with moa turrets. I don't know if they make them mil/mil. I would love to have mine be mil/mil.
  22. Mr IHAVEGAS. If you choose to play USPSA you are required to play by the rules. All the rules all the time. Club matches should be run just as safely as any other match. You think just because you're new you should get breaks for safety, ummmm no. The RO politely offered you a way to keep playing. You choose to ignore advice from a person you ALWAYS listen to when shooting a COF. Man up, read the rules and accept it. Those rules are there for everyones safety. RO stage 4 2013 IL Sectional.
