CZ 9mm loads

OK CZ shooters. I am new to CZs and have a Custom CZ 75 SP-01 Accushadows on order. What 9mm load recipes do you use?

I understand that a CZ likes shorter bullets. Is that correct? Is there an optimal OAL? Can you use heavier bullets (I run 147 grainers through my Glock with great success)?

Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.

I use the same load. These days it depends a bit on what powder you can get, so what do you have on hand?

I am all VV N320. I am most concerned about OAL and optimal feeding.

I am working on a N320 load now with 147gr X-treme bullets.

Shot a couple of hundred a few nights ago that were 1.145 without any issues.

I started with 3.4gr and I think I can reduce the charge a bit. I will be doing some chrono work this weekend and would like to see if 3.1 - 3.2gr will still make minor PF.

I will report back.

I run this load out of my Glock with no issues. I was hoping to take this into a CZ platform:

147 Bear Creek flat nose.

3.3 grains of VV N320

OAL = 1.115

Crimp = .378 to.380

Federal or Winchester primers.

135.5 power factor.

Sometimes I put a Precision Delta FMJ in there and get the same result (a bit slower perhaps).

124/125 FMJ, CMJ, JHP, FP from Hornady, Zero, Precision, or Montana Gold. Titegroup 3.95 to 3.97 grains, 130 PF, COL 1.20-1.30. Testing 147 gr but don't have load worked up yet. Twist rate for most CZ barrels is optimized for 124/125, but they shoot 147 just fine as well as 115s.

a couple of tips.

don't load as long as you can just for the sake of it. I can run my load out to 1.1 or so but it groups a lot better at 1.090. also don't load just right on the min PF. try some slightly hotter loads. my groups also closed up with a bit more ooomph in the load.

I also much prefered 135gn RN to 147s. the 147s seemed to have a bit more muzzle rise and just didn't feel as good to me. don't write off trying some 124gn either. after all nominal 9mm loads are with a 115gn pill.

check your barrel but my shadows shot much better with 356 sized pills than they did with 355 sized.

I run:

135gn CMJ frontiers sized 356

3.6gn or ADI AP50N (sort of between VV N320 and N340)

about 136 PF

federal SPP

mixed cases (mostly WCC that have been swaged).

OAL of 1.090

they shoot very nicely. very easy to manage the gun and nice groups. Super reliable too. :)

Gee- I thought I could say something but it looks like everyone else chimed in already. I have been using 147gn Moly to knock over steel at our matches. works fine in my CZ75B-SA.

Good on yer'

Mine is loving

125gr The Blue bullets

4.0gr Hp-30

1.100 +/-.05 OAL

Coming in at 130-131 PF

Also love the Blue Bullets. This load shots POA/POI out of my shadow:

125gr

Solo 1000

1.125 OAL
