  1. First I resized the case, thenI chuck the case in my lathe and ream the inside with a hone. Then drilled and tapped it. Works great. Have one made for .45 and .40 too.
  2. I drill and tap, but I have to go look at the tap I think its 5/16-36
  3. I posted this in another thread recently, this may help you. I've probable done more testing of 9mm loads than any other caliber. Here is the technique that has worked best for me. I modified a 9mm case to use the Hornady OAL tester. I then take all my barrels and test max OAL with that particular bullet. I then use my shortest barrel's OAL and subtract .010". I then look at max powder charge in my manual's and start 10% under and work up in .2 grain increments. I test for accuracy and velocity using a ransom rest and chrono. I use 10 round groups. Once I find the most accurate, I load another batch with that powder charge but vary OAL going up and down in .010 increments to the max OAL for that barrel. Test for accuracy again and which ever OAL is most accurate for my shortest barrel that is what I use for all my 9mm pistols. I used to take another step after by varying crimp also but have settled on .3785 for all my 9mm load both jacketed and coated. I've gotten some amazing accuracy results using this technique with various pistols. For example I've gotten 1.1" groups with a. Glock 17, and M&P 9, and .9" in my EAA limited 9. These were average of 3 five shot groups at 25 yds which is my normal test range. I have a spreadsheet on the forum if you do a search, I haven't updated it in awhile though. All the loads were shot by me in my guns. I have 15 different 9mm pistols. Here's my latest update. Darrell's Load Data rev 081017.xlsx.zip
  4. I run .358 Bayou 160's in my 929 with 3.1 of N320, no smoke and very accurate.
  5. After much testing and getting frustrated with the accuracy of my new 929, I finally found the most accurate load for my gun. I used Bayou 160 Rn sized .358 with 3.1 gr of N320 at 1.150. I had tried 105-160's and didn't get good accuracy till I went back to the old revolver accuracy secret of sizing the bullet to the cylinder diameter or .001 over. Since my barrel is .355 and my Cylinder measured .358 I decided to try .358 and that's when my groups shrunk dramatically. Went from 4" 25 yard groups to 1.5" groups and that was with my Ransom rest.
  6. Bayou's for me, all calibers. Local to me and price is better. My favorite in 9mm is the 120 TCG
  7. These are the same loads that was most accurate for me also. I also had gotten them from Neil with NSK. He's on the Bullseye forum.

  9. Once I finish off the 9 cans of Prima V I'm going to be using 9.5 as my N320 replacement. I'm gonna try Prima V in 40 and 45 see how it works just so I can get rid of my stash. Should have bought just 1 to try out, but Graf's had a great sale at the time with no Hazmat.

    9mm Minor

I'm using Tightgroup with coated bullets and HP-38 for Jacketed. 3.8 gr Tightgroup behind Bayou 120 TCG @ 1.060, .3785 crimp on all my 9mm's. 4.3 gr HP-38 behind Precision Delta 124 JHP @ 1.085, also use 4.8 N340 and 5.4 Power Pistol with same bullet. Power factor is 130 to 142 with these loads and very accurate (less than 1.5" at 15 yds 10shots)
  13. The 120 TCG by bayou bullets are more accurate than the 124 TCG's in my testing. They have to be loaded shorter. 1.030 to 1.060. Currently running at 1.060 with 3.8 gr of Tightgroup. Haven't tested them in my open gun yet. At 15 yds this load will put 10 shots into a 1.5 in dot in most of my 9mm's. For Major 9mm my powder suggestion is Autocomp or CFE. I use Autocomp.
  14. I experimented recently with Vectan 9 1/2, PV, Tightgroup, and N320 with 124 and 147 bullet both JHP and Hi-Tek coated. 9 1/2 is pretty much the equivalent of N320 for me both in chrono data and feel. PV burns slower and not as accurate. Tightgroup is what I normally use. I bought a case of PV and wish I had gotten 9 1/2 instead.
  15. Never found WST to be accurate in 9mm, I tested it in several bullet weights and though they chrono'd ok, the accuracy I look for just wasn't there. Stick with Tightgroup, N320, HP38, and WSF. I use N340 for accuracy loads (1" 5 shot groups at 25 yds). PD 124 JHP.
  16. My DVC best accuracy was using 115 Precision Delta JHP at 1.08 with 4 gr of Tightgroup. .95" 5 shot group at 25 yds using Ransom Rest. 2nd 124 Precision Delta JHP @1.110 with 5.4 Gr. Power Pistol. 1.29" 5 shot group at 25 yds using Ransom Rest. 3rd 124 Precision Delta JHP @1.10 with 4.0 Gr. Tightgroup. 1.41" 5 shot group at 25 yds using Ransom Rest. Federal Factory 147 shot 1.55" 5 shot group at 25 yds using Ransom Rest. Plated bullet are not accurate...period Darrell's Load Data rev 072317.pdf
  17. 1.030 oal with 3.6 of Tightgroup gave me the best accuracy in my accu shadow. 1.21" 5 shot group avg at 25 yds with Ransom Rest.
  18. Dennis Olson owns Bayou Bullets now, Donnie just has the coating distributorship. That said, they will size to whatever you like. I shoot 160's size .358 in my 9mm revolver, and 120 TC's, 135 RN's and 147 TC's sized .356 in my auto's.
  19. Best load I had in Glock 17 was 124 MG JHP with 5.4 gr of Power Pistol at 1.120. PF was 137 10 shot group at 25 yds in ransom rest was 1.71. 6.0 grs shot accurate too, but more recoil. PF was 144 and 10 shot group at 25 yds was 1.88".
  20. Precision Delta had 124 jhp's for $89/k shipped. I got 4K in today.
  21. About the same as Winchesters for me too.
  22. 3.9 AA2 at 1.130" in Shadow, Accu-shadow, and EAA limited. Best group 1.03" in EAA at 15 yds. 2.1 at 25 yds in Shadow.
  23. I took a straight Hornady OAL tool meant for rifles, ordered a tap for the thread pitch, and drilled and tapped a fired 9mm case. I slid a .358 jacketed bullet in and out several times to loosen it up. Then I took the barrels out of my guns and tested each bullet I had on hand to see what the max OAL was for each bullet in them and put it into my spreadsheet. I forgot the tap size, I'll have to look at it when I get back from vacation. I added a pic of my testing OAL on PD 124 JHP in my accushadow.
  24. I spoke with Precision Delta last week, their loaded match ammo 115 JHP and 124 JHP are loaded to a COL of 1.100". Max OAL in my CZ accushadow with a 124 PD JHP is 1.110"
