  1. I'm going to tweak the loads that shot good. That was my first test using Prima V. Will try 3.0 at 1.100 and 1.120 and see how that works out. Cant get to the range again till Monday though.
  2. I added some Accu-shadow test with Prima V today.
  3. I ran my initial test of Vectan Prima V powder yesterday, fired from my Ransom Rest. Chrono was at 10 feet, Group size was avg of 3 five shot groups, and some 10 shot groups at 25 yards. Had chrono trouble at one point so those loads don't have chrono data. I put them in a pdf file attached. Guns used was STI DVC, and CZ Accu-shadow. I will fine tune the best loads and see if I can improve upon it but powder acted more like Solo 1000 to me than N320. I tested an N320 load for comparison. Batch # PB15276 Darrell's Load Data.pdf
  4. My most accurate load with Bayou 135's in my CZ is 3.9 gr of AA2 at 1.130" PF is 129.5. 3-5 shot avg was 1.03"
  5. I had accuracy problems when using the FCD with lead and coated bullet. The die was swaging my bullets down, it work fine with jacketed bullet. I no longer us FCD in any caliber, I use standard taper crimp dies. The other day I weighed several cases because the CBC cases were giving me issues. The following wts in grn's average of 5 cases. . Blazer 59.98, CBC 58.44, F.C. 60.48, PMC 58.56, PPU 55.28, R-P 58.22, Speer 60.94, Win Brass 58.54, Win Nickel 58.24.
  6. I just got 11 lbs of Prima V in today, my batch # is 15276 so it must be older than y'alls Batch #16055. I will be testing this week in my Accu-Shadow, G34, and STI DVC. from my ransom rest. I'll post the data. I'll be using Bayou 124TC and 147 TC, Precision Delta 124 JHP and 147 TC.
  7. PaladinPrecision, I just got some Prima V in today, I'm going to be testing several bullets with this powder in my Accu-Shadow, G34, and STI DVC using my ransom rest. I re-send you my updated spreadsheet when I'm done. Hope the spreadsheet I sent you didn't make your brain hurt. Anyway 124 gr. bullets will be best for your Accu-shadow. Once you pick a load, experiment because depending where you live YMMV from mine. I usually start with an OAL .010" off the lands, and start 10% below max charge listed in the manual, and load using same brand cases, don't mix cases in 9mm. I work up in .2 gr increments. Whichever load shoots most accurate and makes power factor above 125 is what I experiment with. First I adjust OAL up .005" from what I started, then down in .010" increments to say no shorter than 1.060" with flat point or 1.100 with round nose. Once I find what OAL is most accurate, I experiment with crimp. Start with .375" then up to .380" in .001" increments. Usually what shoots most accurate in my Accu-shadow will also shoot well in my other guns, but every barrel is different. My STI and Glocks like longer OAL's if I'm working loads specifically for them. I.E. 124 PD JHP's in accu-shadow likes 1.080, and in the STI and Glock 1.120. As you saw in my spreadsheet, I test for accuracy at the same time as I measure velocity. Also single digit standard deviations aren't necessarily the most accurate.
  8. Plated bullets and accuracy doesn't work. Use 124 JHP either by Precision Delta, Montana Gold, or Hornady HAP. 5.0 N340, 5.4 Power Pistol, or 4.0 Tightgroup. Load to 1.080" overal length, and crimp .375-.376. Don't mix brass, use any primer. My accushadow out of my Ransom Rest will put 10 shots in 1.09"-1.53". Got 1.5" avg 5 shot group out of my G34 in the Ransom rest.
  9. I shoot mostly 124's in my guns both open and minor. My CZ Accushadow however prefers Bayou 135's and I shoot that best in that gun.
  10. There is no accuracy problems with Bayou's the problem is probably your seating die,you need to check your dies. Even if you bell the mouth of the case to accept lead or coated bullets, sometime the seating die will take the bell out as you are seating them and scrape the coating and lead off. I found that to be the issue with Lee, RCBS, and Hornady. What I did was bell my cases as usual, measure the bell, then I tested in the seating die and sure enough it took the bell out just after the case entered. So what I did was bore my seating dies to the diameter of my belled case, on the hornady die I opened up the floating plug to the belled case diameter. For example my 9mm is .385, my .45 Lee is .482, You can test this by seating a bullet in a case then pulling the bullet, if the coating or lead is scaped you need to open up your die. After I did my dies I did this test and bullets were perfect. This also improved the accuracy I was getting. I have been using Bayou's since he first started making them and have never had an issue with the quality.
  11. I agree with everyone else on 124 gr bullet. Much more accurate than 147's. I've done extensive testing and all my 9mm shoot 124's better. To get a 147 to be more accurate you will need a barrel with a 1in10 twist, not a 1 in 16 as if most 9mm. Some bullseye shooters run 1 in 32 twist with 115's for great 50 yds accuracy but they only have 1 or 2 guns built specifically for bullseye shooting, I have over 10 so the cost would be prohibitive. It was far easier to learn to adjust to the recoil impulse of 124s than to spend money on a custom 1:10 twist barrels.
  12. Here is some of my load data with chrono and accuracy test with Bayou Bullets 9mm bullets. I haven't updated it but the 124 TC likes and OAL of 1.070-1.080. Best accuracy so far has been with 3.5 gr of Bullseye, I haven't added that load yet to my spreadsheet, but out of my ransom rest the 10 shot group was 1.09" in my Accu-shadow. Darrell's Load Data.pdf
  13. Here is what I tested in my steel gun. I'm using 3.3 WST at 1.045 bayou105gr.pdf
  14. The 135 bayou with Accurate #2 is my go to load for my CZ Shadow, I still prefer 124 TC's in my other 9mm's though, and Tightgroup and N320 my favorite powders. I've done lots of load testing especially 9mm and if you saw my spreadsheet you may find a powder you may want to try next. I suggest you add the accuracy info to you sheets in the future, as it help greatly. Thanks for posting some great useful data.
  15. I shoot 124 TC in my open 9mm with no issues. Gun has had 2k of 147 bayou's run through it before I got it and the comp looks great, no leading or coating in comp. I prefer the 124 gr bullet with Autocomp for my shooting style.

    Sig P320

My P320 will be here tomorrow, was hoping for a self install kit, but may send it off to Bruce to install Dawson adjustable rear sights and do the competition trigger job. gonna shoot it awhile before I spend money to ship it off. Not to happy with the wait time either. Was hoping this gun would be a replacement for my accu-shadow. Need to see if I can get some Ransom Rest inserts for it too so I can truly test it out.
  17. I bought a Max 1911 several months ago. Shot with him since he was 12 and took a class with him too, great guy. But I wasn't happy with the gun when I first got it. The sights were bottomed out and still shot 4" high at 25 yds. And the trigger pull sucked. I expected more for the money I spent on this gun when my CRP from Dawson was cheaper and shot better. I sent the gun back to Sig to resolve the point of impact issue and instead of putting a taller front sight they sent a target they shot 1"high at 15 yds and said it meets there criteria. I ordered a .210" front sight from Dawson, and did a trigger job myself and now the gun is great. I still have the series 80 parts in it because I pinned the grip safety but may remove them later. Very disappointed in how Sig handled my issue. I'm hoping my new P320 doesn't have any issues. I get it tomorrow. I got 1.5" 5 shot group at 25 yds with my reloads.
  18. Haven't had time to go to the range with my Ransom rest. Got several boxes of factory ammo I want to test.
  19. Yes calan, this is the same bullet.
  20. The colors only have meaning to me, I sort my spreadsheet depending on what I am looking for at that time. The TC's are 125 gr and its under the Shadow pistol data. I don't post the spreadsheet anymore because I don't want someone modifying it and posting data that I didn't test. I will send you a personal copy but only if you pm an email.
  21. Do a search for my name, I have a spreadsheet with that data on this sight. It should say darrells load data.xls
  22. This data has been gathered over the years, I have a spreadsheet I created and I update it everytime I do new test. I sort out what people are looking for and create a pdf so no one modifies my spreadsheet. I have some new test to do with my new accu shadow. Got several boxes of factory plus my hand loads. This will see what the accu-shadow can do. All will be shot from the ransom rest and to stay consistent with the magazine writers I will make it an average of 3 5 shot groups at 25 yds.
  23. There are several mods you can do to the 650 to get more consistency. 1. Roller bearing mod for shell plate, then make sure you tighten it down all the way then back off about 1/8- 1/4 turn so the plate moves without resistance. 2. The lock down kit for the die block, once done, tighten the allens with the shell plate full and the ram in the up position. That should help keep the oal within a couple of thousands. Be consistent in how you work the handle also.
