Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I bought a Lee die set and to my surprise it seems to work better however the primer punch design is terrible. If the case is difficult to punch out it forces the entire rod to push up and no longer work. the Dillon has a spring loaded design if it has trouble pushing out a primer it pushes up then the spring resets back in place and you keep going. Is it possible Lee makes a better model then what I bought?
  2. I have been buying cleaned once shoot mixed brass so I don’t know what it was fired from but not likely major loads.
  3. I have been reloading 9mm ammo for years this said I’m no expert! I always chamber test every round before I bring them to the range lately I started to have an unacceptable amount of failures 3-4% they all seem to have a slight bulge just above the rim. I have attempted to adjust my first stage case resizing die I seem to be able to make it worse but having a hard time making it better. I’m hoping someone can share with me a trick to setting this die or tell me what I might be doing wrong.
  4. I have only been loading 5-6 years but I do reload a lot I also have a 550b I have nowhere near this failure rate! If I lose one in a 100 that would be a lot! It sounds like something is very wrong to me. I thought you were going to see the catch basket doesn't catch all the spent primers for this my numbers would be close to yours maybe a little higher miss rate. Sounds like it's time to call Dillon they are great and anything that might be wrong is free to replace.
  5. Oddly I don't own a 45 not really sure why. I really like shooting 9mm, I own several 9mm guns two 1911's two Glocks and a Kimber Solo all of which fire my reloads well however I still feel I could do better. My most recent purchase was a Wilson Combat Dream gun and just like it's name I'm very happy with it. I have found it to shoot so well it peaked my interest into trying Bullseye. I'm a creature of habit and I have a lot of VN320 powder on hand so I'm thinking I may try my luck with 115 Zero JHP and do a little testing with the loads but I will start at about 4.2 grains and as much as 4.8 grains I will make a few test batches and test to fine tune. When I first started reloading i only used zero or Montana Gold but both became hard to get for a while so I switched and I bought several years worth of stock but now that I'm into my last box of 1000 I will place an order for the zero's and will test as my current stock runs low I may just load everything I have left with my current recipe then switch so I don't have to mess with any settings while I still have some stock on hand.
  6. I have be reloading for several years and I guess I'm a creature of habit and I have been reloading the same round for years. I had tested a number of different heads and loads and settle on Precision Delta 147 grain FMJ trucated I'm very happy with VN320 powder I plan to continue with this powder but not sure if I should try 115 grain hollow points which I have been told might be a more accurate round. I have been trying to search the topic and I'm 7 pages in reading but not finding the answers I have been hoping for. I mostly shoot tactical matches so I haven't been as concerned about the accuracy but I am considering trying my hand at bullseye using my 9mm if I really enjoy it I will likely buy a bullseye gun but for now I want to at least try this using my 9mm so I need all the help I can get and I figure the best load would be a good place to start. Thanks for any and all input.
  7. I have found lately my reject % has gone up I guess I need to take a good look at the head stamps to see if it is not just me. I have the large hips issue most often and they fail to seat all the way in.
  8. Most matches I shoot have pretty flexible rules but I don't know what I will shoot in the future.
  9. I just checked the rules and I don't see and issue with the rail. Can someone confirm that the rail would be a factor in what class I would shoot. Although I didn't see it in the rules I thought a mag well would put me in Limited 10 anyway but I would love conformation because I want to know what I would be getting into.
  10. If having a rail is going to put me in a different class then that is a deal breaker! I had the gun custom made it is a combination of two models neither come with a rail as a standard feature so I'm not sure what they were thinking adding it to my order? At the price I'm paying I thinking I might just cancel the order and use the money towards a new car. I not a happy camper!!
  11. That is how I feel but then what is the downside of the rail? I like the look of it without it but would the rail help or hurt the value any? Is there a better gun in this price range? The mistake has me rethinking a lot!
  12. It's been over three and half months and my gun finally came in, unfortunately I ordered a 9mm and they shipped a 45 I canceled my order but I got a call today they can have my 9mm within a week this said I ordered it without a rail and they made it with a rail. I have mixed feeling about this anybody have any thoughts? pros or cons it could help me decide whether to take it or not. Thanks in advance!
  13. I bought a M&P pro in 9MM I got it for competition I installed an Apex trigger I loved the feel of this gun and it was the best trigger on any gun I have ever owned! However I couldn't get this gun to group I tried all different ammo I fired from a ransom rest at 25 yards I had 8" + groups it was horrible! I sent it back and told them the issue I was having I asked them to test it out and return it with a test target and tell me what ammo they used to get the gun to group. I got the gun back several weeks later with no test target no info as to the best ammo to use but I note telling me they replace the barrel. Once again I set up the ransom rest and couldn't get the gun to group so I sold the gun and bought Glock 17 I still have to do a trigger job on it but at least I shoots straight.
  14. When I saw this topic I was hoping to get some input on the Night Hawk other then expensive because I already know this. I just ordered a custom 9mm all Stainless about three weeks ago I was told it would be about two months, the wait is killing me! I tried to order a 9mm stainless Les and was told 24 months wait which seemed clear they didn't want to make it! I considered a Wilson but it was an additional $800-$1000. When I ordered the Night Hawk my dealer called them and they spend time with me going over every detail as to what I wanted down to the engraving they offered to put my name on it but I figure this would hurt the resale someday. They could not have be nicer or more accommodating I hope it shoots well or I should say I hope I shoot it well because I know it will be a precision gun. If there is anyone else shooting one please let me know, you can PM me if you prefer not to post here. Thanks
  15. Bullet feeder!!!! I'm thinking about upgrading to a 650 for the extra hole for the bullet feeder. I already have a case feeder but the bullet feeder and auto indexing would be real nice!
