  1. My load book, Lee, shows 200gn jacket start load of 5.5 and max 5.8 at 983 FPS Lead 200gn start load 4.9 and max 5.5 at 1010 FPS Could also be the chrono if you are outside in the late afternoon. LED's in a Box is the only way to really be sure. MDA
  2. Yes!! Your mental game is the most important thing. Think positive. If you keep saying/thinking "I do not visualize myself shooting the stage, nor did I mentally rehearse" then that is what will happen. In stead think "I prepare my stage plan and mentally visualize my shelf smoothly executing that plan before shooting a stage." , "I enter shooting positions smoothly, firearm up, eyes on target, prepared to shoot." "I shoot stage with movement just as well as short stages." etc. Only record positive statement in your journal. Write about what you did well at a match or practice, do not dwell on what you did wrong. List the things you need to work on to get better and then plan your practice to increase those skills. Nothing negative!! Read "With Winning In Mind" by Lanny Basham Olympic gold medalist in shooting and Brian Enos's "Practical Shooting Beyond Fundamentals. MDA
  3. You most likely never need to find any other bullet then the MG 124 jhp for 38 super. Vit powder. 7.9 gn n350 ~1370 fps 8.1 gn 3n37 ~1360 fps
  4. ±1 standard deviation is where 68% of the sampled data will fall around the mean. In the above example it means that 68% of the sampled bullets velocity will be ±20 fps from the mean. It also mean the remaining samples (32%) will be greater then ± 20 fps. To the original question. In my experience reload 40, 45 or 38super and only making one change to lower the SD is to use Vit. powder. Like others have said you could experiment with crimp, bullet weight/type, seating depth, ect to find the sweet spot for a particular powder but that takes time and messing with settings. The only down sides to Vit. are availability (which where I live has not really been an issue) and cost. It is the cleanest burning most consistent powder I have ever used. MDA

    180 Rule

Stage 1 2009 Nationals Las Vegas. What backstop?? there was none. A number of stage on that range/match defined the 180 based on the rear fualt line since they were in corners. MDA
  6. +1 on Frogtoggs. +2 They kept me fairly dry at Nats in Tulsa, and that is saying something! +3 Work for me in Tulsa also. MDA
  7. Try a slow burning powder like WSF. MDA
  8. Nothing new, the lee seating die does the same thing. However most do not use it if they have a four station press and just back out the die a little and use a seperate crimp die. MDA
  9. This is very true. As is the other point, that you have to commit to a lifestyle change or the forces of time will erode your success. P90X and Insanity are advanced routines, and you need to be in really good shape. Start with the P90 program and if you complete then go on to the others. MDA
  10. You will be the classification that is in the USPSA system when the scorekeeper does the classification check update just before the match starts. Ssssoooooo. That means that the classifier match scores must be uploaded before Sedro does it monthly classification update around the 10th. See USPSA web site classificaton page for the details of the process. MDA
  11. I had a good laugh!! But just read the thread. MDA
  12. Go Glass and Never go Back!!!! I use the FastFire. Only issue is haing to remove the sight to replace battery and having to rezero, but maybe it could be resolved with a different mount. Has mostly the same as the docter, STS, adn deltapoint at about half the price. MDA
  13. Not really trun. If you leave the front sight on most have a notch on the rear of the optic you can use like a iron sight. Most batteries will last over a year without changing anyway. If the "Slide ride" red dot mount is milled into the slide you will even to sight down the top of the slide as it is still visible. If you are that concerned then install a new battery before an operation. The new c-more STS has a slide out battery holder so no need to even rezero since you do not even remove the sight. Army-shooter try the following sites. www.cmore.com/sts.html www.burrisoptics.com/fastfire.html www.docterusa.com/_mgxroot/page_10767.html www.leupold.com/tactical/products/scopes/deltapoint-reflex-sights/deltapoint-reflex-sight/ www.golckworx.com MDA
  14. From the US Customs web site. You do not need an ATF permit if you can demonstrate that you are returning with the same firearms or ammunition that you took out of the United States. To prevent problems when returning, you should register your firearms and related equipment by taking them to any Customs Border Patrol office before you leave the United States. The CBP officer will register them on the same CBP Form- 4457 used to register cameras or computers. (See the section on Register Items Before You Leave the United States). When I traveled to Germany in Oct. 2001 that was all I had to do as far as US laws were concerned. When you go the the CBP office, usually some where at your local airport, DO NOT TAKE the firearm into the office, leave in your car trunk and then go in. They will fill out the form and then go out to the car with you and comfirm the SN on the gun. MDA
  15. Try these websites www.lasershot.com www.imarksman.com I have used the Lasershot system. No USPSA movement type of stages but you can setup classifer type stages with targets and steel. MDA
  16. But then you would have to have been on the forum before to know that. True most questions asked can be found if searched for, but if a spammer has to work for it they will most likely go elsewhere. How about limit the number of post the new member can start/reply to during a set number of days. Kind of like vetting out new members before giving them full privileges. If their posts show spam material you will limit it to just a few before you can ban them, and a current member can vouch for a new member bypassing the introductory period. Unfortunately anything you do will require extra work for the admin team. Damn Spammers!!! MDA
  17. 38 sc will work in a 38 super shell plate, every now and then one will pop out, so all you really need is the dies same for both. MDA
  18. ++P90. Aerobics workout: Stretching, Yoga, ploy-metrics, kempo, Abs. 40-45 mins done. Strength workout: Stretching, large muscle group circuit training, lunges, squats. 35- 40 mins done. Like any thing you need to plan your workout and dry fire training into you daily schedual, otherwise you will not get it done and something will always get in the way. Make the commitment and do it. MDA
  19. What Sarge said: Mostly the pace is much faster at bigger matches. Once squad is on stage Staff will read walk through and then you will have only 5 mins to figure out the stage and the shooting starts. Also since you are at range all day fatigue can be an issue. MDA
  20. Go with setup #2. The lee sizing die will size a little further down the case then the Dillon and the seating die has a screw adjustment like the Hornaday just no scale. The Dillon seating die requires you to screw the whole die to adjust the depth. Finial at the lowest cost what how can you go wrong? MDA
  21. Script glasses can be ground to any requirement. 1/2 diopter less then standard distance script is usually the standard but veries a little accroding to shooter preferance. MDA
  22. Ding ding ding!!!! you are a winner. I tell people this all the time and most don't believe me until the try and are amazed they just give you drinks. The casino wants you drunk so you keep putting money in. On a vigrina scoring stage; If you just shoot it clean you will be near the top on that stage not matter how slow you shoot it. The fastest time divided by Zero is still Zero!!! MDA
  23. Congrats to Nils. The question remains, who is Nils' Mentor??? Well from the introduction at the awards ceremony, by none other then Robby Leathem, he has been shooting at Rio Salado since he was four. Kind of hard not picking up something considering the talent in that area. I'm sure Robby has provided a helping hand along the way. MDA
  24. Chrono is just like any other stage and same rules apply, You only get one chance to shoot it there is not second change if the shooter messes up. Personally knowing the RM at this match, as well as, his account of it, the Rules were followed by the book. He has a "lot" of calibration and chrono ammo he has used over a few years and matches and checks before and after resulted in 1% difference. Results were also consistent with historical data. MDA
