  1. I have heard a few guys say they have no issue at all. I might be a bit leery of taking it to a match to meet power factory but for practice I wouldn't hesitate. It can't be that bad or there wouldn't be so many manufacturers using it. I have actually thought of doing the same thing to save myself changing the primer set up. Check it on a chrono I'd like to hear the results. Also maybe try small magnum primers, might provide the oomph lost to the small primer if any.
  2. Yea they are usually set up that way.
  3. Can't wait to post mine. Should be here in 8 - 12 weeks.
  4. For me it really depends on the squads and how long it really goes. I don't mind a really long match say 12 plus stages if the squads are short and the day goes quick. Area 8 this year was 14 stages plus chrono and was done by 5 ish I believe. Thats a long day but not terrible. For my money I like as long a match as possible. If I was retired with a good pension I would be all for 2 day formats but I'm not. That would be tough for me to pull off for multiple reasons.

    Other Loves?

Hunting waterfowl. But that can be put on the back burner depending on the weather in the winter. If the range is having matches I'm there instead of in the blind but for sure that is my second choice.
  6. I vote SVI. The ergonomics are amazing. It just feels perfect.
  7. And yes it supposedly is a lot like the SV one with improvements. I want it bad but my gun now has the regular PT steel grip and I want my new one to be almost identical. Think I'm going to have to stick with the regular one and not the EVO. Kills me but I want my back up to be almost identical to my primary.
  8. The grip safety is pinned from the factory too I believe.
  9. Just thought I'd add that I put a deposit on my second Atlas gun yesterday. This one will be my primary and the one I have now will become my back up. Both will be almost identical aside from finish and some very minor details. I can't wait. Did you end up ordering with them?
  10. So who has had the chance to handle the brand new PT Evo grip? How's it feel? I know its brand new but I'm sure there are a few out there already. Is it really that much better than the current PT grip?
  11. Right now a 22/45 target model with iron sights. I really like the idea of the 22/45 because it mimics the ergonomics of a 1911. I had my 22/45 before I started shooting competitively and now I want another one. Same gun just the light model with a comp and dot. Only thing I wish it had different was an interchangeable barrel like the victory. That really is an awesome touch and makes it so much easier and cheaper to switch it up if you want to.
  12. Heavier main spring perhaps. CCI primers are just about the hardest of the bunch.
  13. Lightened slide, Dawson tool less guide rod with a 14LB spring and dawson aluma buff.
  14. I hate Wilson combat. They are supposed to be the best there is and I have heard of quite a few issues. I had the 10 round 45 mags in black and they would turn into salt and pepper shakers on the regular. I had wilson replace them with the regular silver ones. Then I was having issues with the stop on the outside of the mag breaking off. This wasn't in a stress situation, it was during make ready. I believe three of them broke at which point I wanted a full refund. Wilson declined to give me a refund. They would only replace them with more of their junk which I took and had to sell myself. Needless to say I will never buy another Wilson product. I'm pretty easy going and this just thoroughly pissed me off. So there's my two cents haha.
  15. I would say the only reason to load longer than SAAMI specs is because the gun will function better. Better usually meaning accuracy and function. Some guns such as 2011's tend to like longer ammo for feeding purposes. That being said a glock may not even be able to fit really long ammo in its magazine. Also accuracy can be affected by length as it can affect bullet jump to the rifleing. It all has to be tested thouroghly.
  16. Yea my magic combo is the the egw undersize die, rcbs lock out die, redding competition seating die, and the lee factory crimp die. Not the cheapest way to go but it helps prevent a lot of potential headaches.
  17. Recoil springs are so cheap I replace them every month or so. For 5 bucks I just change them and don't even worry about it.
  18. I was having similar issues. I switched to the IDPA length release from Dawson and I was able to use the sti paddle. I still have it angled up a little but changing to the shorter release solved the problem.
  19. but still noticeably slow compared to where it once was.
  20. Looks like the FART is a really good option. Think I'm going to spring and get one. At the end of the day its really not that big of an expense compared to the rest of the reloading process and you end up with brass that looks cleaner than factory. Thanks for all the info!
  21. Damn that was an eye opener for me. Wasn't something I ever thought of. Kind of sucks because I live in one of the not fun states so it really affects me. Guess I really need to start thinking about how to remedy that problem. Any suggestions on how to clean the carbon off the crown without removing the comp? Thanks for the advice.
