  1. Hornady website says it's intended for rifle cartridges only. Not sure why.
  2. Have the press just was wondering which puller. I think the ones I saw weren't for pistol bullets not sure why that would be tho. Not sure if I missed something.
  3. Looking to get a press mounted bullet puller. It will be used for 40. Any suggestions on what to get. I just can't stand the hammer style puller.
  4. Yea really. I never guess these things right. I was closer than usual though.
  5. Anybody have a pic of the final job on the release?
  6. Where is your left thumb. Is it possible it's rubbing the slide a bit and slowing it down just enough.
  7. The extreme shooter grip is very nice as far as plastic grips go. Whatever you do don't get the factory STI grip. That thing is awful. I personally really like the Dawson Ice magwells. They might even be cheaper but not sure. Also the SV trigger is sweet. It gives you a lot of options. Probably will require a bit more fitting than the STI one but I would say its worth it.
  8. Factory 9mm can be pretty light. What exactly are you shooting as far as ammo?
  9. This is interesting. I had an Edge with a extreme shooters grip. My mag release was the dawson IDPA length with the STI paddle. I had to turn the paddle up a bit with the edge to prevent accidental mag release. Then I got a gun with a old style PT grip and I'm having issues with the mags dropping. I kind of need the paddle to efficiently drop mags. I'm now wondering if the engagement with the PT grip is to little. Now that I really think about it it does feel like its really light to drop the mags. I just ordered a heavy mag release spring. We'll see if that helps. Good thread I may have to do CHA LEEs trick.
  10. I've got my money on Glenn with Abraham a close second.
  11. I'm a fan of the MBX mags. I have 6 and they have been flawless. In fact all the mbx mags I've seen in my area have been great. STI can be hit or miss, I have seen a bunch that needed to be tuned. If you need tuned ones they run about the same as the MBX. Kind of up to you if you want the insurance or your willing to take the risk.
  12. The only advantage I see is it would probably be much easier to set up. My powder through expander was such a PITA to set up. I still can't believe how much tinkering it took to get that right. Other than that I cant imagine why you would want to split them up. There are 2 possible very worthwhile options for that extra station. To me they far exceed splitting up the powder drop and expander. You can run either a powder check which I chose or a bullet feeder. I opted for the RCBS lock out die which I love. Many will say they love the bullet feeder but the insurance you get from the lock out die is priceless to me.
  13. Thats true very well might have something to do with it.
  14. I also run the aluminum ICE mag well with my steel grips. The balance seems just right.
  15. I almost feel like your trolling lol. Asking a question like that on this forum is looking for criticism.
  16. I had mine degrade to the point that it fell off while I was loading. Didn't think it was that bad. It was about half full, what a mess. Duct tape that thing.
  17. I shoot L10 on the regular as I live in the non free state of NY. I always think its funny how much guys hate reloading when I go to a free state for a match. We may as well have open 10 here too hahaha. It is what it is. I just like to shoot and I have to deal with it. I certainly wouldn't volunteer to shoot it if I had a choice tho. I guess the grass is always greener, right? As far as the mags go it really depends on the stage. There may be situations where a reload is ideal after only 6 rounds or less. Take note of the production guys in your area. L10 is just production with fancier equipment. On a 32 round stage you may need 5 mags. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. If nothing else you will get really good at reloads.
  18. 400 or 401 depends on your barrel. I always used the 401 with very little problems in my edge. Not sure how the SV AET barrel is as far as diameter. I always used titegroup with them also. At 1.165 iI needed 4.3 to make a consistent 169 170 PF.
  19. I wish they would stop coming out with new stuff. Now I need a new holster lol. The only saving grace is it looks like it uses the race master blocks.
  20. Exactly. I had no issues before things changed. Now its very frequent. Nothing at all changed on my end.
  21. I had an sti edge with the factory grip that was just awful. I sold that and got the extreme shooters DVC grip which was so much better. I thought that was great. Then I got a new gun with the PT aggressive steel grip. That totally ruined me. I could never go back to a plastic grip after shooting with the steel. The balance is so much better and the traction is out of this world. Its a significant investment but in my opinion totally worth it. All that said only you can decide what you really like and shoot better with.
  22. I asked really nice and they it seems they just don't do it anymore. I will say when I called to ask about a certain part I had to be directed to the gunsmith team because it was being checked over when I called. It sounds to me like they do look them over to make sure there isn't anything out of spec even if they don't "tune" them. Seems Dave and company is just too busy. I got lucky and mine ran like one that had been tuned but I would have gladly paid for it.
  23. The factory STI magwell I believe is shorter than the dawson. I just sold mine so I cant measure it to be sure.
  24. 140mm mags with a block maybe. Other than that you'll have to find base pads that are really long that don't add capacity or try a different magwell. Jersey is 15 right?
