  1. Also new IPSC Rules: http://www.ipsc.org/rules/
  2. The other day, we had just a net hung on some target sticks, with a couple of 2x2s holding it on the ground. At least we weren't losing all the brass in the snow....
  3. On a local forum, somebody expressed a concern about BUL, in a 1911 discussion. He had handled some BULs at a European show and found that the 1911 barrel was resting on the link, instead of the lower lug. That did not happen with the 2011 models that were at hand. Any comments? Yigal?
  4. Sorry, I forget which bluetooth receipt printers we had at a Match. Probably something cheap ordered from aliexpress, or something. I guess they worked OK, once we got the trick: keep it near enough to the tablet at all times. Most shooters didn't want the paper copy. We didn't need them for official results as everything was constantly updated to a master computer.
  5. As standalone sight, or as secondary for short range?
  6. Googling for GunGames magazine finds it OK. Too large to post here. edit: Love the back cover ad:
  7. Going back the posts, I believe the reference was to a situation where the competitor unloaded, holstered and started walking away from the stage. The RO did not see the chamber and called unload and show clear again. It was clear that the competitor was finished.
  8. For whatever reason, IPSC has put a 33 round limit into the Provisional PCC Division. 6. Maximum ammunition capacity (maximum to be loaded) 33 rounds (32 in magazine)
  9. All powders have some temperature sensitivity, including N320. I'd want to confirm PF very near the conditions where your matches will be.
  10. I got to try a GP100 that a guy at my club got done by a localish gunsmith: trigger job and cut for moon clips. That trigger was nice. Only tried it DA.
  11. Vihtavuori data has a minimum load for Hornady 185gr XTP, with 4.4gr of N310 at 820fps out of a 5" barrel, for 151 PF. Not sure how fast powders in big cases behave when you reduce the load. Proceed with caution....
  12. There's at least the improving yourself angle. A range session or Match can also be very much a social event.
  13. You're not too old. Perhaps you need to keep your expectations realistic. You might not find yourself at the top of results - except in an age category, maybe. That doesn't have to stop you from enjoying a Match or visit to a range. I don't practice anything like some people here, so goal one at a Match is not getting a DQ, and goal two is doing the best I can, not worrying much about what everybody else is doing. It has happened that I surprise myself by beating some people by just hitting the targets, instead of trying to go fast.
  14. Looks as if they might need more space than you have on SDB? If your SDB is running rough, check that your primer assembly is adjusted just right and your cases are not sticking in the dies.
  15. The chain goes better around the corners when the joints are pliable.
  16. I haven't built a model in recent years, but keep watching the What If Modelers forum. Here's the current thread for nominations for the annual Whiffies Awards ceremony: http://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php/topic,44711.45.html
  17. Discussing gun lubes on a gun forum is ALMOST as dangerous as discussing chain lubes on a bicycle forum.... You need to lube a Glock??? OK, I do put a drop of oil in the rails and on the barrel. But you don't need to soak it like some do with 1911s. Currently using some lawnmower motor oil that was on sale. Actually, I use that oil sparingly on a 1911 style pistol and a revolver too.
  18. Of course. Just... as people say, the stock Glock trigger is rarely all that good: requires more care and dry fire practice to keep your hits good. I guess the stock trigger on my ancient Glock is better than most.... People often want to replace the sights too, especially if a fiber optic front sight is wanted.
  19. I believe .357 SIG plays well with the gun legislation in same places. I believe that is one reason IPSC just extended its temporary status as a Major caliber in a few Divisions.
  20. You just need to get one that actually works
  21. Looks like many have gone for small ultrasonic cleaners. Apparently, they get good cleaning results without using anything too smelly ( ... which could good or bad, depending on preferences and circumstances ... )
  22. Forget to shoot a few targets, and your points are pretty low.
  23. Don't think too much. Go and see those shotguns. Try how easily they shoulder, point and swing. Buy the one you like better.
  24. That's right. A semi-auto with the same barrel length will have a longer total length than an O/U. Shotgun loads designed for clays are pretty soft. At least compared with heavy hunting loads.
