  1. Neither. Cleaning on open gun is no different than any 2011. Just clean and lube.
  2. Lots of videos on YouTube for this. It’s not hard to take good care of them and to me a 2011 is less complicated than a Glock
  3. I had the same issue and it was the bushings.
  4. There are so many variables to this one. Long arms, short arms, high cheek weld, low cheek weld, etc. It all comes down to what you like and are comfortable with. Some stocks will be higher and will requires a riser on the optic. Some are very low and optic will mount flush. The stock adapter that you choose will also affect this. I like a stock that has a very fast connection to my shoulder and it can’t be slippery or small in that area. I also like a folding stock which allows for smaller storage. For me I went through a bunch and always end up going back to the Springer Precision Yugo adapter and Magpul Yugo/Zhukov stock. The combo is on their website and is very nice. It has an adjustable LOP but I just use it closed down all the way. Do you have an adapter yet? Start there and then see what stock you like or go to the Springer web site and check out the combo I mentioned. I wouldn’t use the Sig folder adapter as it takes up a lot of length but that is just me. Thordsen (sp) makes a nice one. A stock on the MPX can end up being like a carry holster for your favorite EDC. I ended up with a drawer full of them until I found the one that FITS ME. Good luck.
  5. Mark Isler hands down with Isler Custom They are rock solid and he makes them for multiple types of guns.
  6. I have an edge that will need the Pt Evo grip installed and then a full recoat of the whole thing. Black Nitride is my first choice but as the another posted a properly done cerakote will hold up
  7. I need to do this too with my suit and tie gun. My wife says my IWB antics are ruining my dress pants. I checked and she is right.
  8. I only run the Dawson mag catch/release in all my 2011 and have had zero issues with any of my guns with my MBX mags. Most of my guns are full custom but my Edge and Marauder also work flawlessly with this set up
  9. I was skeptical to do it at first and once I did it was easier and easier every time. The NicTaylor00 videos are what I been using and he makes it easy to understand Good Luck!
  10. I saw mention of the weak side safety getting flipped up while shooting. All the 1911/2011 guns I own I ride the top of the safety with my thumb which would make this impossible. Is this not the norm? Perhaps those with smaller hands can’t reach or grip that way. I’m curious as to who else does this.
  11. I haven’t used it yet and still need to order brass and projectiles but will report back once I get some ready and tested
  12. The YouTube videos helped me a ton and I quickly learned how easy it was to take them down completely and then put back together. That simple ability sure helps with trouble shooting and issue diagnosis
  13. Hmmm....they all will work in SS but have different advantages/disadvantages. Also, the Valor does not have front cocking serrations and I’m not sure about the Specialist. My vote is the pointman nine all day long. It’s made very well, amazing to shoot, and ammo is cheap.
  14. This advice is spot on and had helped me. Dry fire and a consistent draw helps a ton as well
  15. ^^^ I did this for my 2011 ESP IDPA gun at local matches as I would disengage the safety and gun wouldn't go bang. At major matches it's a no no.
  16. Filing a bit off of the base pad is easy and only costs a little bit of time. I had to do it to a few of mine. Matt
  17. Very interesting. I have an STI with plastic grip and flush MSH. It points low every time. I will try something thicker. Thanks!
  18. Oddly enough the latest Limcat limited gun I bought had one in it. I shot it last week and couldn't feel any difference.
  19. Very interesting. I have large hands as well and do hit the right side safety but have never fully thought about what is happening there. I will go grab one of my guns now to see.
  20. It looks like your gun is a “kit” that they sold with slide/frame. They used to sell them around that time and I have owned a couple. Most people often had them finished off with SV parts but another builder would do the work. They gave me the same response as the serial number will only tell them the year it was made/sold.
  21. Often a used STI will have upgraded parts and have all the kinks worked out. I have bought many used STI and have not had any issues. In fact now that I think of it I have never bought a new STI period. Some good deals are to be had this time of year but you must jump fast. Matt
  22. Arch feels way more natural and solid for me on plastic STI grip.
  23. Yes. Taccom comp is even flatter shooting. Venom has an AR9 comp and I have heard good things and they will be making one for the stock MPX barrel threads as well.
  24. One more vote on having two similar guns if you need a back up. I have swapped platforms too many times and can attest that it hurts you
