  1. Very helpful thank you. I am finding that the mental learning curve is the toughest for me.....
  2. I am finding that! Thank you all for the warm welcome Matt
  3. Sorry to bring back an old thread but I am 38 and this year I have noticed my vision getting blurry. It takes a while to get my eyes focused on targets at any distance. Racing RC cars is a hobby I have and seeing the car across a large track is hard now. About three or four years ago my eyes developed floaters and they have gotten worse. Eye doc said nothing could be done for them but shooting indoor IDPA with those lights is torture. Monday I have an eye doctors appointment and am so ready to get glasses or contacts! Hopefully it will help my shooting to see better again.
  4. I had the same thing happen when I went from the SIg P320 plastic gun to my Shadow. Empty mag makes a huge difference in weight and speed when it is coming up from the draw. I was overreaching everything with the extra weight and especially so when I was practicing with an empty gun and then shooting in a match. The switch from a polymer gun to a heavy gun has taken a while to get used to when talking about site acquisition.
  5. I learned quickly that chatting it up is not the best thing for me. When I am about three spots away I shut it all out and start breathing deeply and thinking it all through. If I have ran through it all in my head prior and am comfortable then all I worry about is the draw and instincts and muscle memory kick in from there. For some reason after about 7 months it all started clicking. Now to just actually work on speed, etc.
  6. I have a custom shadow as well and have been shooting it in ESP so the DA has not been something I have had to deal with. The DA pull on my gun is sooooo smooth that when shooting at the range and practicing dry fire it is almost a seamless exchange from DA to SA. That's just my 2 cents from a newer IDPA shooter.
  7. I started in January of this year. A buddy had been bugging me for a long time and I finally gave in. It's been a fun year and I've learned a lot. For me it's a great way to destress and hang out with friends. As I get more serious into it it's now more about my skill or lack thereof. Trying new things and learning to run the stage in my head prior to the buzzer going off. Looking forward to 2016!
  8. Thanks for letting me join. I'm a new CZ enthusiast. It's quite addictive. Looking forward to browsing and contributing at some point. Matt
