I really hope that these are going to have a very aggressive texture. I would hate to have to cover the bling with grip tape!

I picked this up on the forum with minimal use, a lot of PD parts and a nice polish job. I was told that the DA /SA was 6#6oz/3# with a 14# PD Hammer spring. As this was my first Tanfo, I decided to strip it for educational purposes. I polished everything again for giggles. Sent it to PD for a barrel reaming. I bought a FO front sight but I have not changed the stock black sight yet as I kind of like it. Added a conefit guide, Henning basepads, Canik trigger pin and a 12# Hammer spring. Did another round of polishing. Lots of dry fire, almost all DA which is new coming from 1911/2011s. 1100 rounds of live fire, mostly indoors, waiting for holster and mag pouches to arrive. Grips are a work in progress. Scales 1.0 were too thin and not grippy enough for me, coming from aggressive SVI grip. Scales 2.0 were marginally better. Currently have the Copper Grips Lava Rock texture. Like the texture and width. Fit and finish is what you would expect with a ~$30.00 grip. (Will definitely try the PD offerings) In SA, it lights ALL primers--CCI, Winchester, S&B, and Federal. IN DA with a 12# spring-- 100% Fed, ~90% Winchester. ~75% CCI and S&B I decided to shoot a match today. The only local match was the new IDPA classifier. Had been traveling all weekend, flight got in late, 4 hours of sleep....Finished 3rd. My first classification in SSP. Gun performed beautifully. I was sloppy on the head shots costing me an Expert classification.. The double action was a non issue. What will take more practice is the transition from DA to SA. The reset is super short and there is really no need to prep the trigger. A few splits were a little too fast for my comfort. In summary, I am really pleased with this gun. All I need is to find better grips. If I get the courage, the magwell will be reamed out. Contemplating buying a Stock 2/3. Always need a back up!!

Is the "poly" coating on the blue bullets the same Hi-Tek coating found on Acme and Bayou bullets or something else? Is it as clean?

You can put your fifth mag in your back pocket. Use this for your 1st mag. You do not need to come to the line with all magazines in pouches

Where is the cost savings for competitive shooters?? Still have to live fire at Matches. If your dry:live ratio is 5:1, your dry fire costs will exceed the live fire costs Meh.

I had a thought today at the range, probably not original, but here it is: Why not use a Federal Primer for only the first shot of a stage as it will be the only DA shot. This will allow me to use a light hammer spring in my Tanfoglio. I can use any primer for all subsequent SA shots. I can designate the Federal primer-containing magazine with a different color basepad. Shooting one match per week (a high estimate), I have enough to last ~35 years.

I liked it for the few matches I used it before I got a DAA Race Master

I spent this morning watching the videos and tearing apart my LimPro. gave everything a good cleaning and repolished some things for no apparent reason. Got everything back together with minimal cursing and no lost springs. Thank you for the outstanding tutorial. One quick question: Is it normal to have a little vertical play in the firing pin retainer? Seems much tighter fit in my 1911/2011?

I just found 13K Federal small pistol primers in the back of my safe that I didn't remember buying!!! Time to try the 12# hammer spring in the Tanfoglio

It fits. Before I had a Chen 2 magwell installed on my WC, this was verified. A NHC 5" 1911 with a Dawson Ice magwell also fits the box.

Try 5.0 g with a random bullet, unspecified overall length and a barrel between 4 and 6 inches. In all seriousness, there are too many variables here for multiple recipes when you can simply look at the Lyman reloading manual for a start. My current load is 5.0 grains of N320 using a 180 grain Precision Delta FMJ COL 1.185" Mixed brass, Winchester primers 5 inch STI 2011

I'm not so sure that it isn't financially viable. 10 students at a weekend one day course for $350 plus whatever additional parts they purchase is probably more money than a gunsmith would make in a single day. Especially if it's local and the instructor has no significant travel expenses.
