    CZ Shadow 2

I might, I really like the look of the Shadow 2. I think after Limited Nationals in the fall shooting production or single stack for a while would be a nice change and may help me work on some different skills. I guess I could shoot L10.

    CZ Shadow 2

Anyone know when these are supposed to be available?
  3. I have done both, I started with a blued CRP Edge from Dawson. These are just stock guns with some add on parts. My Edge served me well for 2 years with no malfunctions that were not my fault for feeding it crappy ammo (Bulged cases). I finally decided to refinish the gun in hard chrome so I had the slide lightened, trigger job and refinish done. Then I added a steel grip. If you add up the cost it is right at custom gun money. The plus side is I got to experiment and decide what I needed before I had a custom gun built. I was also able to spread the cost out over a period of time. Doing things this way can cost you more in the long run. In my opinion if you don't have a lot of experience with the 2011 ordering a custom first is a gamble, you may be getting what someone else thinks is best but not whats best for you.
  4. I'll bet it will fit the insert for a Phoenix Trinity grip, I have both if I can remember I'll check when I get home.
  5. I have not tried removing the shoe and staking to an STI bow, I filed the trigger shoe to fit the grip. The trigger is cheaper than a grip so I thought it made sense to file on the cheaper part.
  6. I think the CZ is a good option, well made, accurate, and they have a nice trigger. I know a few guys running them and they seem to like them.
  7. I agree with Trent, I shot a stock edge for 2 years and it was pretty soft shooting with 170pf ammo. When I decided to have it chromed I also had the slide lightened. The thing I noticed when I got it back was the recoil hit me harder in the palm of my hand, but with the lighter slide and lighter recoil spring my times on certain drill like the Bill drill and Blake drill were a little faster. I think this is because the sights return a little quicker, so its a trade off.
  8. 4.4gr. @ 1.180" with 180 Bayou Bullets for me. This load was 169PF at the Florida Open.
  9. They're not? Nope! http://techwearusa.com/techwear/ Any shooter can have a jersey, all it takes is money.
  10. I think it's great that we can compete against the best the sport has to offer. No other sport I have been a part of would allow me the chance to play with the best in the country or world. I like knowing how I stack up against the best, I guess for some it is hard on the ego but for me it motivates me to work harder to improve. As far as guys wearing jerseys, they sell them every day and you can have one too. Not everyone in a fancy shirt is a top level sponsored shooter.
  11. L10 is a division with low participation but it does not cause any particular problem that I can see for anyone. In states like Florida or any other state that does not have a capacity restriction it is going to have almost no participation. I know a few guys who shoot it they use a 1911 with 10rd. mags. I like having the division as it gives me a place to use my M&P 45 if I wanted and not be at a disadvantage to the guys in production. I guess I see it as just another option we can choose or not, so why would we eliminate it?
  12. I have been using the MBX mags for about a year, they will hold 20 for reloads and some will allow you to start with 21. When they first came out all of mine would hold 21 but I had feeding issues after a couple of months, Adrian told me to send them back. He returned them with new springs and followers but the capacity was reduced but they have run 100% since. I also have STI mags that hold 20 and a couple that hold 21 but they wont lock into the gun. The MBX mags are a good they cost a little more but they should be good to go when you get them.
  13. Very good press. I still have mine, I use it for small batches of ammo instead of changing the setup of my progressive. I see yours has the new auto drum powder measure which is supposed to be an improvement over the pro auto disk. Good luck and enjoy!
  14. That's how it is around here, the guys that run the local IDPA matches help out with stage design and setup for our local USPSA match. Some guys are die hard for one or the other but most of us shoot everything that's available. I am glad to have both locally and do enjoy shooting both.
  15. I still do not think this is correct, I have shot at least 30 IDPA matches in the last year with a couple of major matches in the mix. What I have observed is the guys who win are not spraying and praying they shoot fast and they shoot accurately. The last IDPA match I won I went back and applied the new scoring nothing at the top or bottom of the sheet changed. Usually what I see is the scores might shuffle for some of the mid pack shooters but the results still look about the same. I just see no need for it, but they did not ask me anyway. As far as the slow footwork I dont see a penalty for running to fast yet.
  16. You can shoot a 45 in limited, but If you are buying a gun just to shoot limited it's better to buy a 40. A 40 will give you greater capacity, ammo is less expensive weather you reload or buy factory. It was mentioned in an earlier post there is a nice looking Edge of the classifieds that would make an ideal limited gun. If I had the 45 already I would shoot it but I would not buy one just to shoot limited.
  17. I had one set up to load 40 and it ran great once I got it going it was pretty much trouble free, I tried to set up a second one to load 9mm and had nothing but trouble. I got frustrated and bought a Hornady LNL. I think some of them are good and some not so much.
  18. Budget is up to $4K. Really appreciate the comments. In that case, full custom is the way to go. Or but 2, having a backup is always a good idea.
  19. You have a powder that will work. In my gun 4.9gr. of 231 makes major with a bayou 180 at 1.18". I use coated bullets only, they cost less and allow me to use less powder to get the desired power factor. As always start low and work up. I do not think recoil is as harsh with 231 as it is with TG.
  20. I bought a CRP Edge from Dawson. They add parts to them but they are stock guns, mine worked fine out of the box but if you are shooting a custom now you are going to want to do some work to a CRP gun i would think.
  21. I don't think that is true, in single stack you can just fit more 9mm in the same size mag just like in limited. I am not sure for revolver.
  22. I don't see any problem at 4.7 you are at 170pf avg. Which is good for major. Your es is only 26fps I bet your loads will shoot just fine.
  23. I came pretty close 172pf at home 166 at nationals.
  24. I think the .40 with minor loads is probably as soft shooting as it gets. My loads run about 150pf and the front sight really does not move much.
  25. Congrats, the Eagle in .40 is a sweet shooting gun. I have been using one for the last year. It also serves as a backup for my Edge for USPSA. I had an aluminum magwell cut down to fit the box, and standard 126mm mags work fine, but you can use the wedge basepads and still fit the box.
