  1. I still believe this would be a bad move. Why keep messing with the rules? Let each person shoot the match to the best of their ability. The way I look at this is if I am going zero down and getting beat on stages then I am to slow period. I have also had the reverse be true where I had a fast run but dropped to many points and got beat.
  2. I don't think it will matter much. Those who win will still win because they are better shooters. I have shot some stages that were more like USPSA, and some that had hardcover on everything but the head to force people to slow down. The results were the same, the normal group of top finishers were still on top. The penalty will apply to all so i see no real relevance to this.
  3. One other reason for the longer loading length is some of the fast powders we like to use may not be suitable when loaded short.
  4. 3 on the belt and 1 in the gun for me and mine all hold 20. I almost never use more than one mag off of the belt, but I had a stage not to long ago where I had to shoot weak hand and hit the mag release with my middle finger ejecting the mag so I had to use another from the belt or take time to pick it up. Like others have said there will be some courses that it is an advantage to do an extra planned reload. When you go to level 2 or 3 matches you never know what you are likely to see, I shot a match last year with nothing but steel.
  5. I am in the same boat, I have the grips on my 2011 stippled but I do use grip tape on my M&P. I prefer the feel of the grip tape and would like to put it on the 2011's but I could not seem to get it to stay put. The Talon granulate grips work well on my M&P and I have only peplaced them when I feel like they are not as rough as I want them.
  6. Very cool, looks like they did a great job on it.
  7. I purchased 4 of these mags in .40 cal. and as advertised they would all easily hold 21 and 3 would hold 21 reloadable, and they were not hard to seat you just needed to be firm with them. I ran them for several hundred rounds in practice with no problems. The second match I shot with them I started having issues with rounds nose diving into the ramp. I tried running them again in practice and the problem showed up again. I emailed Adrian and got a response back that night. He told me to send them back and he would check them out. I sent them in and had them back in 1 week. After getting them back I only have one that will hold 21 and I don't think I can get it in the gun without a hammer. The springs and followers have been replaced with something different than I had previously. I will say I am disappointed about not getting the 21st round but if they function reliably I will not be to upset. As far as service after the sale Adrian has treated me as well as one could hope for.
  8. Congrats on your first match. USPSA is a lot of fun but I enjoy shooting in general. Good luck with your search for new gear that is also part of the fun, but you may want to shoot for a while before deciding. If you give it some time you will get to see what others are using and what interests you.
  9. The only issue I have had with 231 is it is dirty at lower power loads. I load an a plated 230 RN to 1.260" and it takes 5.1gr. for major at 169 PF from my Sig 5" 1911. From what I have seen it usually take 0.2 to 0.3 gr. less to make the same PF with a coated bullet. If you load to the shorter COAL I would think no more than 4.5gr would be needed. As always start low and work up, good luck!!
  10. I have shot both, they both are accurate and shoot pretty flat. That being said I bought an Eagle in 40. I wanted a back up for my limited gun that I could shoot IDPA with. Loading your own ammo you can make some very soft shooting 40 minor rounds. The 40 also lets you play in limited without the scoring disadvantage.
  11. I have 2 M&P pro 9mm pistols the first one has an Apex sear and competition spring kit minus the reduced power striker spring. This pistol has been perfect for thousands of rounds no matter what type of ammo. My newer gun I installed the full Apex competition kit, I have had issues with light strikes, last time I shot it I had 4 out of 100 rounds. The ammo loaded at different times and my Shield was shooting it with no problem. When I got home I removed the reduced power striker spring and installed the factory spring. I noticed the reduced power spring looked to be smaller gauge wire as well as being a shorter spring. I have not had the opportunity to shoot it again but I am almost positive that is the issue.
  12. I am considering switching from limited to production, I am interested in the Shadow target and have seen many recommendations for Mec-Gar mags. I would prefer the 17rd vs 10rd since I can have them where I live. Are these the ones I need ? http://www.gregcotellc.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=130&products_id=591 CZ 75B, CZ 85B, CZ 75 SP-01 17 RD 9mm AFC MGCZ7517AFC
  13. They have offered the tool less guide rod as part of the CRP at times but it is usually for a limited time.

    Why?

Is it that your actual stage times are faster in production or just a better hit factor? I have shot a match with my limited gun and the ran it again in production and beat my limited score but it was the actual hit factors for each stage were better because I was shooting production to get as many points as possible. My limited times were slightly faster but the scores just were not as high.
  15. Available at Midway right now.
  16. WST works for me 1.180" COAL 4.6gr. WST = 173pf with 180gr. Blue Bullets. This is out of my stock Edge, your barrel being different your results may be different. Work up some loads to test I think you will find something that will wok for you.
  17. A friend of mine has the same gun and just got some 10rd mags, he had the same issue. I would load them up and leave them loaded for a few days, it could just be the new springs are strong and will free up with some use.
  18. I have a Sig Tac Ops that I put a 10-8 rear and Dawson FO front sight on. The gun does have a little play between the slide and frame compared to my STI Edge but it does not seem to hurt anything. The gun can still shoot better groups than I can. I think they are very good gun for the money and mine has been good with anything I have loaded for it. I have had FTFs with 200 SWC using Wilson mags but the Sig mags fed them fine.
  19. I think it is a combination of things. I have run a couple of different types of factory ammo over a chrono, they were hotter than needed around 180 to 185 PF. The cost of loading your own assuming you can find the needed components is less expensive, plus you can adjust your load to your gun. Depending on the type of gun you are using also matters, some guns run better with longer loaded ammo. I like loading my own, I can change individual things in my load to find what works best for me as far as reliability, and also the way the load feels.
  20. I use the FCD with coated bullets, the carbide ring will straighten the bell out some but not really crimp the bullet. You then use the knob on the top to set your final crimp. Follow the instructions you should not have any issues.
  21. Limited 43 Points 6.0 s 7.16 HF
  22. I have an Edge and have shot an Apeiro, either gun is great. Dont think you would go wrong buying either.
  23. I have been using the Xtreme 124gr FP in my M&P Pro 9mm for over a year. I have had very good results with them, accuracy was good enough for me 1.5" at 15 yards off sandbag rest. They probably would be smaller groups but my eyesight I think is the limiting factor. I use a pretty good crimp 0.376" when I pull a bullet it does have a slight ring but the plating is not broken. I loaded and shot about 10k last year and was very satisfied with the results.
  24. If you go with a 2011, the STI EAGLE is a good choice if you get a 40 with bushing barrel. You can use it for IDPA ESP and USPSA Limited and L10. The cost of loading 40 is less than 45.
