    CZ newbie

rock stock its just about $200 difference between them, but you really can't find a stock SP01 Shadow anymore as you can SP01. You are probably seeing "SP-01 Shadow Custom" (some variant) which also has some performance parts as well as nice trigger job.
  2. The stock SP-01 Shadow dropped off CZ-USA website I believe towards end of 2014. But it wasn't moved to discontinued, it just disappeared. Haven't seen any floating around new in the wild anymore, all going to CZ Custom and Automatic Accuracy for custom or Accu builds probably.
  3. One of the locals here took his Glock with .40 loaded minor for production all the way to Master class, very soft shooting.
  4. People choose divisions for other reasons besides mag capacity. I think a better test would be comparing 2 divisions that are identical besides mag capacity and then seeing which everyone prefers. I don't have the stats in front of me but isn't it something like 95% choosing Limited over L10 You don't have enough information from the data set you derived the 'stats' from to make a good decision, at least one that I think you'd be happy with. Revolver and Single Stack have nothing to do with overall capacity, those are two enthusiast groups based on the platform, just let them be. From what I've seen at many club these members while few, are true enthusiasts and are disproportionally helpful to matches and the sport generally compared to the other divisions. If you look at this like you are managing a portfolio of products with price points, Open and Limited are really the playground for expensive custom guns, pick iron sights vs comp/optic, and go. Production is proven as the popular under $2000 division and fastest growing division, let's leverage it and add optic to get similar robust products in the under $2000 group. Carry optics can over time grow to the similar analogy that Open is to Limited, just let folks have option red dot or iron sight, its not that hard. (And limited 10 is a bust as a place for expensive limited guns to play with downloaded mags, that hasn't played out, folks just shoot production). Whether you agree with anything I just wrote or not, this product portfolio view is probably as valid an observation about what to keep or kill, as the 'stats' based analysis above. ... and CA opinion counts 5x that of MN, since the stats say we have over 5 times as many registered USPSA members as MN ;-)
  5. Two generations of SIG MPX: Gen I the first release of 9mm MPX pistols, Gen II release includes the new carbine, and modifications for multi caliber use (bigger ejection port, mag slight change) as well as different hand guard on the pistol
  6. Please change the division for me from Open to Carry Optics ... going all the way :-) (TY81079)
  7. There isn't a mag length restriction for production - see Appendix D4-7, the gun and empty mag must fit the box.
  8. Odds are you'd be OK, at some point. First it needs to be added to Production list, but i imagine that will happen in short order once it's generally available here in the US. Second, you'll have to manage weight, pistol is currently listed at 1.33 Kg, or 46.9 oz. My experience with an Accushadow (with Aussie barrel) was that removing iron sights and milling for optic, with light delta point gen 1 optic, allowed my pistol with mag (nickel 17 round with stoeger based) to be less than 41 ounces, a bit under the 42.176 oz weight USPSA has for pistol only. With the additional allowance for slide lightening cuts in CO, seems like you should be able to hit the 45 ounce with mag limit on the shadow 2.
  9. The sights are must have, get those done and see where you are ... you'll gain weight with those vs the stock plastic Glock sights. We had a guy here get bumped with an overweight Glock, and while he was clean two majors, the third one no changes he had the over-weight problem. Either variance in scale (or a lot more dirt, LOL), so maybe not worth creeping too close to limit. FWIW, you don't need extended pads, but some folks like base pads to add a little weight to drop mags. But (clean) Glock mags are pretty slick out the chute.
  10. Similarly, for CZ, Accu-Shadow is a listed production model, but no where on the gun does it say Accu-Shadow. It's visually identical to a Shadow SP01 Custom except for Accu-bushing, and the Shadow SP01 Custom does not say "custom" anywhere, its visually identical to a SP01 Shadow. (all of those are production legal) Bring a printed catalog page from tanfolgio that shows a picture of the gun that looks like your, to show that roll mark doesn't match approved model name? BTW, if that was at the recent match in AZ, I think some of the helpers weren't totally up to speed on everything, they tried to also get my buddies Accushadow as fractionally overweight from the list weight, they needed to be shown appendix about the 2 ounce extra allowance. Odds are most places for production you won't be the only one with a Stock III, LOL
  11. Not really sure what a light strike is like? So to better describe it, I fired a round in single action, then when I was going to fire the next round, I noticed that the trigger was in double-action mode and the hammer was not cocked back... hope this helps? BTW I did replace the firing pin with the one in the CGW short reset / trigger kit which also included the lighter FP spring. >Not really sure what a light strike is like? ...next time it goes DA after a shot, STOP, pull the mag out, then take out the chambered round. - if there is dimple on the primer, that means the firing pin hit the primer, but didn't ignite it, that's a "light strike". - if there is no dimple on the primer, something out of whack with the trigger job .. after slide cycled, the hammer did not stay cocked as it should, and it came back down to rest on firing ping hope that helps, if your question was 'what's a light strike'. If not, sorry about extra post.
  12. You can search "CZ SP01 Hammer Follow" and see if anything there in results looks similar to what you are experiencing
  13. What LED lighting did you use? For the 1050 I just went to Home Depot and attached a LED strip to the case feeder stand facing the dies, and also got a small led desk light there to illuminate other side of press.
  14. I've got a new in package Manny Bragg future magnetic holster if that's what you are looking for, was a backup to the one I used with an open gun for awhile (no longer have that one). Can discuss further PM, cheers!
  15. Do the 1050 with Mr Bullet Feeder and some LED lighting, and add the Mark 7 later. The problem with doing learning curve for both at the same time is that you won't easily know if you are having Dillon issue or Mark 7 issue. But do go visit a friend with a 1050 so you can get calibrated on the whole process, will make running yours a lot easier.
  16. Accu-Shadow Aussie Carry Optics Fun
  17. Once the slide is cut/milled for the rear optic, you are OK to go back to production with a filler plate (that is addressed in new rules), but you might need a semi-custom rear sight attached to that plate unless/until someone starts offering aftermarket rear sight plates. That's an area where the factory guns with optic plates are nice for back/forth flexibility. However, if you do any of the 'other' things addressed for CO like forward serration cuts, then it can't come back to production .

    CZ Open

22 rounds (18 rd + med base pad) 24 rounds (18 rd + long base pad) 28 rounds (2 welded mags / med base pad fit to 170 gauge) 29 rounds (26 round mag plus short base pad, removed rubber bottom, removed metal bottom side indent) The 29 rounds is too long, but seems like someone handy could do something base pad area to get it to fit, and less hassle then having welded. (Although $100 to have them fit / welded doesn't seem bad to me) The 22 and 24 each can jam one more round in to 23/25, but then it's not usable, very tight -- I might not have best spring / follower after seeing John and Stuart's setup/ round counts :-(

    Slide milling

Springer Precision (SP01 Shadow, Accu-Shadow for delta point) CZ Custom (Multioptic cut for P09, but they also do Shadow) I imagine both of them just had huge jumps in backlog/wait :-)

    CZ Open

I did a little research and the only base sp01 I found in Finland is €19 less than the shadow and you get 2 mags instead of 3. So apparently it's a no brainer to choose the shadow But unlike other countries, a stock SP01 Shadow no longer distributed in US. It disappeared from CZ-USA site about 2 years ago. Now the only SP01 Shadows you find are the 'custom' ones for $500 or so more from CZ-Custom or Automatic Accuracy. Those guys get them to refine/upgrade, but really no more for the masses. So the ones left floating around stock/not custom are increasingly rare.

    CZ Open

Just red dot and go if you are on a student budget :-) Take the magwell money and instead get a CZ Custom base pad and the follower/spring for one SP01 mag to get it to about 22. That plus your 18 you'll just reload once per stage, and go have fun! You really can just load the 18s up also, but sometimes stage design makes it where you want at least one 20+ round mag to get rid of a reload. FWIW, I take my shadow out open minor all the time, its a LOT of fun. If I don't drop out of the A zone much, my scores for a stage can be right there with the open major guys (who are often struggling to keep a gun running, LOL).
  22. I just experienced this exact problem (off during COF, then when I turn it on its on dim setting) this weekend several times :-< RTS2 on CZ P09 Slide mounted for Carry Optic. No problems with 145gr 9mm Minor, but playing with 124r bullets for a bit, and maybe the increase slide velocity was just enough to trip it? I have a backup I'll use while this one get send back. No problem thus far RTS2 on STI open guns, Cheely optic mount. FWIW I used to have older CMORE on open guns, 90 mount, work great except horrible battery life (several units) especially when compared to any of the modern optics.
  23. I bought the one Brassaholic13 made, here is video of it: My understanding was that the 650 was a challenge to do one pass reloading on it like you can with a 1050. I believe he said he did case prep one pass, then actual loading a different pass. There were just some challenges with getting the 650 to case prep correctly AND be smooth platform on reloading, I don't know if this was issue more so some calibers or volume of powder. He moved to 1050 for auto reloading why he sold this beauty - I just bought for case prep, so I'm fine with it as is. It's possible the 'dwell' and variable speed solves the issues on 650 he had, I don't know.
  24. The inline fab kit is VERY nice for a 650 with the fitted center light and very small side strip. For 1050, used a 12" LED strip from home depot attached to the square case feeder post facing shell plate, and then a small LED table lamp for the press side opposite the light strip; http://www.homedepot.com/p/Hampton-Bay-Super-Slim-12-in-Silver-LED-Dimmable-Under-Cabinet-Light-Kit-with-In-Line-Dimmer-and-15-Watt-Power-Supply-S-Lincus1-US-1-K1/203142878 http://www.homedepot.com/p/Hampton-Bay-15-in-Black-LED-Desk-Lamp-with-Lens-Included-AL40306/205510994
  25. +2 on almost all of this, exact same for me both setups as well, LOL. (currently P09 with RTS2 for CO) Only thing to add is I think reloads easier with the shadow (mag, magwell bevel ?); and when i shot the optic shadow open, I used big sticks just so I wouldn't give up so much more against the real open guns besides minor scoring, I'm slow enough as it is.
