  1. I got nearly $100 for a 5 gallon bucket of .22 and old primers last year. I just take it down when I get a bucket full. It is just a few mile drive for me though.
  2. I shot a local practice match with my 9mm AR one night and the timer would not pick up all of the shots. That was with no suppressor shooting 125 gr. bullets a little over minor so not quite super sonic. I am guessing that is why the no suppressor rule.
  3. The Midwayusa belt is affordable too. I have several and they work great for me. They are not as stiff as a DAA but I think they have even came out with one that is less stiff for people that thought the originals were too stiff. I Think that's right.
  4. My wife runs a SA for Limiited Minor. She shoots it better than a 2011 Edge 9mm we built for her. It is lighter on the nose and faster for her. She points the gun better and it is super reliable. We both wanted to love the STI but after 6 months she is back to the SA. We did a little trigger work to it, Dawson front sight and cut the back for a Bo-Mar and added the CZC magwell to it and it runs great. Also Mec-Gar mags with the plus2 basepads are relatively cheap. Go for it!
  5. I have tried the towels before and they work well if I rotate them out. I will have to try the coconut water and visor good ideas.
  6. DAA Racemaster for USPSA and the Safariland USPSA Kit with 5198 body for 3 gun. Both work great.
  7. Get the regular foam from Pelican and use a electric fillet/ Carving knife to cut it. Really works well. Also lay it out in a mirror image of what you are wanting and trace with a sharpie. Then flip it over and you wont see the marker. If that makes sense hard to explain.
  8. I prefer the fiber front/ plain black rear. Supposed to be looking at the front sight so why distract from it is my thought process. Seems to work well for me.
  9. I have 4 but only use 3 one in the gun and 2 on my belt. I have never needed extra mags really. The only time I get close is on classifiers that call for multiple mandatory reloads I use the 4th just incase a mag goes bad on me. By then the stage is beyond saving but still have to try the best you can I guess.
  10. Did you use the STI 40 spacer or a dawson or something else?
  11. I have trouble with some 9mm mags I have. The follower keeps getting stuck half way up the tube. I use Dawson followers in my 40 and they are perfect. Only problem is they only make a 38 Sup follower. Has anyone tried running 9mm with a DP 38 Sup follower? I have the STI and Spacer in the magazine currently. I have the Dawson mag tuning kit and I have worked the bodies and feed lips over I just can't seem to get the followers to work right.
  12. My Metalforms work great for the money in my pistol. I added Dawson Basepads to them.
  13. I always make my followers not slide lock. I prefer the Dawson because they don't tip over and use normal springs and won't lock the slide back. Only problem is they don't have a 9mm and I am struggling with some 9mm mags right now.
  14. Sounds like you are pushing down way too hard if you cut your self. Just hold the safety down don't try to snap it off! I agree with pin the grip safety it lets you get a higher grip on the gun. All of this takes practice to feel natural so take your time and give it a chance. You probably will end up riding the safety a lot of shooters do.
  15. I have used the Metalform mags for 10 Rd. 9mm mags witht the Dawson base pads. I am pretty sure this is what he sells as his own competition mags for 9mm. I have had good luck with them. They are kind of hard to strip rounds out of for some reason but they feed in the gun no problem. I use the Willson ETM in my 45 and they are treating me good as well.
  16. Another vote for Gans. I have a sight tracker he did. It is perfect.
  17. The Manny Dot sight from Brazos will help with that Halo effect in bright sun.
  18. I had the same thing with a beretta magazine and a CZ 75 with a mag well on it. Only the first mag fit the rest were all wrong. Took me a minute to catch what I had done. They were both MecGar so the look the same.
  19. I have had some mags that when loaded are hard to seat and if I don't get them fully seated then it won't pick up the top round out of the mag. The press check helps catch things like that.
  20. I must be the odd duck here because I really don't notice a difference between 7.5 and 8. I shot them for everything. Not saying that wind pellet count etc. is not true but I don't know that you are going to pick up many birds due to just changing shot size. I will admit that when I miss it is because of me not the gear.
  21. Shot with someone last night using a left handed A400 that ran like a top. Beretta makes a nice auto for a reasonable price.
  22. I had to stick to limited I was not good enough to find the dot everytime.
  23. The only thing I ever noticed the clamp do was make the gun shoot slugs terrible. I took mine off and will never use one again. One of mine I put the RCI monotube on and the other is a Nordic on a 28" M2 and it has no problems with a really long extension on it.
  24. I ran one on a Limited gun that had a light under 2lb trigger and short reset and it would cause the gun to bump fire every now and then. Not sure if it was shooter error but I could almost make it do it on demand. I took it off and went back to no rest. Now Slide Racker is another story I love mine for table starts.
  25. I have a set of the Walkers Ultimate Power mutts. THey are comfortable the ear cups are nicer than Howard Leight but they are not low profile by no means. The new Razor Slims look to be what you would want for rifle shooting.
