  1. I still prefer the weakhand load out of the 4x4. Sad to see them go. Hope Aaron gets back at it he designed great products just needed a better manufacturing process and distribution perhaps.
  2. I know they make aluminum buffers that could be an option. Are your reloads making Major or way beyond that? I have seen factory rounds that are nuclear power level so that may be some of the issue. I use 12 lb springs in my 40 with no issues. The tungsten rod should help keep the muzzle down and maybe help with a little snap but I noticed little change with mine. Run some rounds over the chrono first and see what power you are dealing with probably the first step.
  3. I have bigger hands and love the DVC grip. I have them on all of my 2011's if you have smaller hands then the reduced would have to be the best option I would think. Extreme does excellent work FWIW.
  4. I did the same thing to my wifes 2011. First and only DQ she got and I felt terrible not her fault and she had the gun pointed at the berm. It was touch and go for a few moments when I told her why the gun did that was my fault. She was a good sport about it after a few minutes of silence.
  5. That may be an option for people that can't get to a range easily. I still do dry fire/ draw reload practice in my basement.
  6. Our local range uses painters tape. It is not an official USPSA match just for fun in the winter when snow is on the ground.
  7. I had mine sent to H&M and Nitrided them to stop them from rusting. Seems to do the trick.
  8. I have seen several people have the Extreme plated bullets tumble in both 9mm and 40. 2 where shooting TG I believe.
  9. I was squaded with a guy this last weekend doing the cool guy flip and would immediately drop the hammer and holster. He was also one of the RO's for the squad. I thought it was bad example for newer shooters perhaps and not the safest way to unload show clear. The guys I were with agreed with me that it was not cool.
  10. It can be done. I am sure you can read a book with both eyes. Really concentrate on focusing the front sight I guess. I started shooting shotgun so both eyes open was a natural transition.
  11. Sounds like you have it nailed either that trigger bow spring has broken or got too weak to lift it up enough to engage the DA. That spring was not too difficult to access if I remember correctly. I have only had mine apart 1 time to the level of changing hammer trigger etc.
  12. I load mine the night before so I can hang out with friends before hand and catch up and relax a bit.
  13. There is an awesome match that is not a true USPSA or IDPA match in St. Louis that raises money for the USO. It is call Monster Match and it is a blast. I would encourage every club to try and do a charity match but if you make it a fun match I think you get more shooters perhaps.
  14. Be very careful doing a slide lock reload with a 2011. In the heat of the moment it is very easy to over insert and snap ejectors or at the very least ruin the stage/ match.. I never set mine to do slide lock but I only shoot USPSA and 3 gun, IDPA I think requires it to slide lock.
  15. For 3 gun there is nothing wrong really with any 2011 in 9mm. Dawson vs. CK not sure what you are wanting as far as specs but the CRP is an excellent pistol. I would probably look for the short frame to keep it light in 9mm but they also have some tac railed guns that seem to be popular for 3gun. I use a 2011 Legend in 9mm for 3 gun and works great.
  16. There is a ton of good online advice as well. If you are a member of a gun club you can probably find someone that would happily help you get set up and started. I have helped out several new reloaders it is fun to watch someone learn how to make their own ammo.
  17. I run a Hodge Podge in my LNL. I use a Lee U die to size, a Lyman M Die to expand. Redding micrometer seater and crimp dies. I also have some sets of Dillon dies and probably every other brand made for calibers I don't load that much. I started with hand me down Lee dies and honestly there was nothing wrong with them they worked fine. I do like the way Redding has micrometer seat and crimp dies though.
  18. I agree with the watch your footing. I have seen 2 guys fall from running in the rain One Dq'd the other should have IMHO.
  19. Wow I have never had an AR barrel that tight. But noted for future reference if I do.
  20. I blend the top on my pinned grip safeties looks cleaner.
  21. So what about taking the weight out of the slide to have less reciprocating mass but adding something like tungsten guide rod to try to add the weight back in to keep recoil down? I have done both myself but can't say that I am a good enough shooter to quantify any difference in performance.
  22. If you go with H&M on Nitride try to get several pieces and get a batch quote it will make the cost per piece more reasonable. They do top notch work.
  23. Do they radius the bottom edges of the dust cover? I bought a PT and it was squarer for lack of better term than the STI frames I used in the past. Looks like the LDC frames are radiused a lot.
  24. That worries me about not letting the mags touch anything or it causes a jam. Also looks strange loading in mags at an angle.
  25. I like the design probably less frag from hitting low.
