  1. would you mind taking some before and after shots so we can compare the results?

    Which vest?

While some vests are better than others for this sport, as long as you practice, the difference is trivial.

    .40 Major in CDP

Why the fuss? You can still shoot your .40 in ESP or SSP (depending on what gun). If you want to shoot CDP, what better excuse to purchase another gun? I you don't like wearing a cover garment, then don't. Eat the PE and continue on. Every game has rules. Every game has players that don't agree with the rules. It's just a game. You can either live with the rules and enjoy your time with fellow shooters while getting some trigger time. Or you kick rocks as complain about how unrealistic the game is. Your choice.
  4. Glad to read that Winchester made you whole again. Far too often we read about larger business not standing by their product. This speaks volumes for Winchester.
  5. Running a CF handguard, the side adjustment may not be accessible. Also, I'd prefer the clamp style to set screw. I appreciate the suggestion though. As for the advice on improving upon my current charging handle, I'll see if it's needed after installing the new gas block.
  6. After shooting a match last weekend, my throat felt odd from the Russian ammo exhaust that was expelled out the charging handle and up my nose. Would an adjustable gas block help remedy this? I was already looking at buying an SLR prior to the match, so this would only add to the justification in my mind for spending $100+ on a gas block. Was also looking at the gas busting charging handles to help. Didn't feel like dropping the cash required for a PRI. I saw that Strike Industries offers a non-ambi charging handle that supposedly has gas busting properties. Other than the PRI, are there some recommendations? Being an ambi is not required. Thanks.
  7. I could totally see that gun in the Texas Ranger's museum. Easily the coolest pair of scales I've seen on a 1911. I don't know who came up with the design, but the end result is pure awesome.
  8. You can't take it with you, so enjoy your hard earned money any way you like. No wrong choice between the two, congrats on your purchase.
  9. That's some BS. Sorry man.
  10. I feel ya. I was kind enough to exchange vehicles while she was at work so that I could get some maintainence done on her explorer before a road trip she was taking. When she pulled into the driveway with my car, I saw that she repaid my kindness with curb rash on my passanger side rear wheel. She claimed she didn't see the island she rubbed up against as she left her parking spot at work. WTF?! There were 2, count'em, 2 trees on that island and she didn't see it?! I know why married men live shorter lives....
  11. I bought enough N320 to last me until the Australians get Clays flowing again. I hope....
  12. Reasons for IDPA: Fun to shot stages Get better aquainted with my pistol Hang out with the guys/gals Get away from the wife and kids Because I don't want to reload enough to play in USPSA
  13. Have you shot a 2011 before? Most people that have, prefer the grip of their 2011 over the 1911. To answer your question, On another forum a member did trace the OD of the 1911 and 2011 grip. At the widest points they were the same, but the 2011 was most rectangle overall as opposed to the 1911's oval. If i can find the post I'll link it unless Quack finds this post first and reposts it.
  14. If you plan on hunting hogs in TX, keep the handgun on your side and be sure to bring your AR loaded with VMAX.
  15. I use dryer sheets after they've been run through the dryer. I use 2 sheets and cut them into 3 making 6 total. They are tossed after each batch. Never tried unused sheets. But I have used store brand an national brand, stay with national brand.
  16. Congrats! My goal this year was to make EX in ESP via match bump. Missed it back in May by .09sec! Sandbaggers withstanding, I'm looking to get a bump in Oct.
  17. Why not? By the time you receive it, you can have your next one planned and ready to order! So if I time it right, I'll save my pennies for a used limited SV in four years.
  18. Just ribbing you. Have always admired your choice of sidearms. I'm not a fan of glocks, but that Zev made me take a look at their work. As for the grip panels... Wow... Just wow...
  19. Wait... You replaced your double stack 9 with the SS .45 back in February. Now you downgraded from your SS to the glock? It's not going to look at sharp in a tooled leather rig.
  20. Here's an idea. Have someone from your club that's an experienced reloader (maybe that GM that you've refered to) to stop by your place, buy them lunch and watch your reloading process. They may be able to find fault in your equipment or process that alone, you may not have found. Best of luck.
