  1. Kreb's zytel magwell.
  2. Sent out the parts on the 5th and will have this in hand on the 13th. Build was complete on the 8th and blued over the weekend. Yes, I asked for a matte finish for the bluing. I'll put some wear on the bluing while I figure out any aesthetics I might want done before getting a costly, more permanent finish done.
  3. On the way is a 5" 2011 built by Gan's Guns. I suppose I made it in just under the wire. Within the last few days I noticed that Gary's site stated he was not taking work until he's caught up. Lucky me. While this build does resemble an STI Eagle, the only thing they share in common is the grip and slide.

    Gan's ?

I feel fortunate after reading this thread. Didn't realize he was so backed up. Im glad he didnt reply denying my build. I sent him a package Tuesday, after a few short days and a few emails, I'll be seeing a complete build next week.
  5. Definitely give Brazos a call. They sent out another pair of 126mm 9mm mags my way.
  6. I looked over what Dawson had to offer. Either what I was looking for wasn't available in red or they didn't have it in stock, anywhere. Maybe I'll take another look.
  7. Cool, thanks for the feedback.
  8. I ordered 2 126mm 9mm mags from Brazos roughly two weeks ago. I got an email from them right after I placed my order stating they would be out of the office until the 26th. I had my mags in hand on the 27th.
  9. Anyone have any experience with these? Looking to get some red ones. http://tarantactical...7097a71e346e16f I'm looking to use these on 126mm 9mm mags. I've been reading that stock mags are plenty reliable but once you start trying to increase capacity, there can be a need to tune the mags. I am hoping to get a bit more length to help clear an IDPA legal magwell while maintaining reliability and legality. This is primarily for aesthetics since increasing capacity does me no good for IDPA.
  10. +1 The all steel build also help to tame the recoil of those SD loads. Very comfortable in a good holster and strong belt. My 9mm in a MS Nexus setup.
  11. I started minor but then went major. Being new to the sport, there were a lot of nerves involved and I had a tough time distinguishing hits/misses on swingers. Going from a tiny 9mm hole to a gaping 45. acp in SWC made a huge difference for me.
  12. There have been a few articles on the difficulty of getting 1911's in 9mm to feed hollowpoints with consistency. I read one and figured the guy was wrong. Went through a bunch of different factory loads and finally lost interest. I've fired everything from golden sabers to critical duty in my 9mm STI guardian. No feed issues with any of them. Maybe I was one of the lucky ones.
  13. 5k pledge and you still don't even get a lower? For 5k I'd be expecting a 1 off Chromed Lady version! Hard chromed of course.
  14. I've had good results with my Tac Sol barrel as well. Just be sure to try different as many varieties of ammo as possible. I went through about 6 different brands before finding what shot the best.
  15. I've had mine from Loki for about 3 months using mostly cheap Russian ammo. One thing I really like about the NiB coating is that I can see any spots that I missed when cleaning. It has been noticeably easier to clean than my standard BCG and is slicker even when dry. I'm sure if I had a suppressed SBR I might be able to take full advantage of the coating, but with my volume of shooting in a middy, it's definitely more gimmickie than anything else. But regardless of coating, I still get some wicked buildup on the bolt that requires me to use a knife to scrape off the caked on carbon. I'm sure if I had a better cleaning regiment that the bolt wouldn't be as bad. Would I buy another? For a race gun or high volume carbine, sure. But for a HD, SHTF, plinking or hunting rifle, probably not worth the investment. When time permits, I do hope to use my rifle for competition use. Until then... It's just a flashy looking range plinker.
  16. Yeah, that would be awful! Sorry, but I didn't see any revolvers in that pic. =)
  17. Of my 2 AR's, one runs the A2 and the other an Ace Skeleton. The A2 does seem to be quieter when charging the rifle but has a more pronounce Sproing than the Ace when actually firing. There's also a noticeable reduction in buffer slappage. But that might be due to the Wolf XP buffer spring in the Ace. It definitely shifts your balance point forward with the lighter Ace stock. I don't have a problem with it, but your experience may vary.
  18. Did you note any difference in recoil or reduced sound from the buffer tube? Did you feel it was money well spent or just a bit too gimmickie (sp)?
  19. I read that he has a rifle length tube. Not the same as a rifle length gas system. Then again, he didn't exactly state he was running a middy. It's just assumed by barrel length.
  20. I have the 15" on my lightweight build. While it feels Carbon Fiber slick going from nut to brake.... there seems to be a very textured, almost finely ribbed feel going from brake to nut. I've only had it a short while but it's definitely SUPER light (6oz) and was well within my budget. The XXL and gargantuan might be newer options as I don't recall them being available back in February, but then I didn't need more than the 15" with my 16" barrel.
  21. 6.5lbs. The Loki CF HG and ACE ARFX help to keep things lean. My 16" is like a super model in comparison to my Colt 20" HBAR. She weighs in at a hefty 11lbs.
  22. Sweet looking rifle Shadowrider. I have a very similar setup for mine. I have the 16" barrel coupled with the exact same HG. Might be the profile of the barrel and the billet lower, but I come in at about 6.5lbs. I was very pleased with the accuracy out of the barrel using just a micro dot at 50yrds. It definitely gets the looks from passerby's. When I offer to let them handle it, they're amazed as to how light it is.
  23. Loki makes some gorgeous rifles. I just received my new upper this week. I had them use my supplied upper to complete the project. It's not exactly a 3G upper, but it was something within my budget. I'd post pics but I don't have enough posts. This weekend will be its maiden voyage out to the range. From what I've read about the quality of their barrels, I'm sure I won't be disappointed.
