  1. I believe you're right. Because milling the slide to accept another sight is against SSP rules. Not so for ESP, but the full rail of the shadow makes it illegal for ESP without its SSP status.
  2. The difference is that the Accu Shadow isn't ESP legal on its own. It was only allowed to play there because it was SSP legal. Because it's been ruled a Custom build, third party or not, it no longer gets to play in SSP. Apples and oranges compared to a 1911. I hope I read your post right or all this is null and void.
  3. We already have a BUG division, this just a smaller version of that? My money is on the optics. From an industry standpoint it also makes sense. People enjoy buying new toys. Look at how explosive 3-gun has been. People will want to buy/build new guns to play with.
  4. They didn't. Atleast not in my experience. The FFR call was made by the same guy that made the cover calls, the score keeper. But that's water under the bridge now! Woohoo!
  5. I'll wait till they get some serious do's and don't's for modifications before I get too excited.
  6. I just removed the one I've had on for over 3 years. Replaced it with a Seekins. It's effective on a 16" mid length. The ports on top are a bit of overkill as it seems to want to dip the muzzle a bit. Overall though, I did enjoy it. It's easy to clean and it doesn't mess with the balance of the rifle.
  7. If round nose are a must, you should have that addressed by a smith. That being said, if RN are what you're looking for, try Bayou Bullets 135gr RN.
  8. A majority of my shooting is indoors. After reviewing some footage I have of myself shooting, it smokes a bit more than I expected. Definitely more so than plated/jacketed, but during the COF, I don't notice it at all. I would post some stages for reveiw, but I don't do the youtube thing.
  9. Chuck, thanks for posting that. gahunter12, sorry about your club's uncertain future. I wish you guys the best.
  10. Anyone on this board from the club that hosted the match? I don't do the Facebook thing, so I have no idea if they've posted a response to all of this. Any word on how this effected the standing for that match?
  11. GOF, Do you ever have any constructive to add to any thread? You seem to spout a lot of hate for an organization that you no longer contribute to but can't seem to resist trolling IDPA threads. Reviewing previous posts from a variety of thread reveals a broken record. We get it. You're bitter towards Joyce and the rest of the IDPA BOD. Let it go. Let HQ lose sleep over the loss of membership. If you want to give helpful tips or insightful views that are constructive in nature, have at it. But you're current track record doesn't exactly reflect that. Put the "Haterade" down and move on.
  12. Under cooler, damp conditions, you may experience more smoke than usual. I've experienced more smoke than usual with clays and 200gr LSWC at an early morning match in the fall. I'm unsure of your shooting conditions, but that may play a roll.
  13. I use a 147gr costed bullet and 3.0gr of Clays. I used to run 2.8 and made minor, but it was cause for concern on cold days. There was a slight difference in smoke between the two loads with the 3.0 being a bit better. Overall a clean load with very little smoke. Been using Clays (and now Clay Dot) for about 2 years.
  14. I'm unfamiliar with what the cause was for them leaving, but our club has been quite successful in member retention and growth, before and after the the newest rendition of the rulebook. We've hosted 2 sanctioned events this year. One being a T4 event and another being a sanctioned BUG match. All that being said, next month our club will be holding a trial PASS match. I've read over the rulebook and I'm liking what im reading. It looks to be a blend of both USPSA and IDPA. I'm not entirely familiar with USPSA, so I'm unsure as to which sport PASS most resembles. From the sound of it, the guys/gals of Georgia will adapt and evolve and be a better club for it. Best of luck to them.
  15. Hmm, those look like the Metalform 10 rounders, which coincidentally are the worst ones by far for the 9mm. Why would anyone want 10 rounders for IDPA in the first place? CZ parts are harder to come by but The CZ Custom Shop and Cajun Gun Works has everything you need. With some basic tools and some online walkthroughs, you should be able to tackle all of the upgrades yourself. Maybe because some people like loading to division capacity? Unless you're shooting a compact 1911, you should be loading to division capacity, that mean 10+1 unless stated otherwise by stage description.
  16. Try the dawson 10rd mags. The single stack shooters at my club haven't had an issues with their mags. Just remember to let them sit a few days fully loaded. OP, you can't go wrong with either choice. 1911s do get the edge when it comes to customization. Here in the states, 1911 parts are just more plentiful as opposed to the CZ/Tangfolios. That may or may not be a factor for you.
  17. Well I have a highly modded Springfield Loaded 9mm and I built my own CZ75 SA Shadow and shot them both in ESP.Both are capable guns but I have to give a slight advantage to the 1911 for being able to utilize 9 round mags. How is a 9 round mag a slight advantage? You have to load to 10 and barney up unless downloaded per stage description. The CZ, on the other hand, is probably going to run without malafunctions. Sounds like your highly modded Springer is giving you problems that you would assume the CZ would run without malfunctions. Reliability shouldn't even be a factor.
  18. Great question. When researching their product, I too had this question. I did find this article stating what it was. I'm unsure as to what their source was since I couldn't locate it on their site either. http://pistol-training.com/archives/1929 Rudy Project’s patented ImpactX material and are rated ANSI Z87.1+, which is the high-velocity, high-mass impact certification that exceeds normal eyepro standards. It's the "+" in the rating that makes all the difference. But it appears only their Impactx lens are rated ANSI Z87.1+. Unsure if they still make the Karboneye model, but I love mine. I run the photochromic clear Impactx. They are an 18%-78% light transmission. I don't even notice the transition from clear to tinted at the day progresses.
  19. You didn't mention what stock you're running, but it sounds like a lightweight build. The weight of your overall build will also contribute your recoil preception. Without an adjustable GB, you're not getting as much benefit from your low mass BCG. Sounds like you may also need to play with buffer weight to achieve proper cycling.
  20. I love the 1911 platform, but Im going to have to vote CZ on this one. #1 with the railed frame you get more weight up front to help manage those bunny farts. #2 double stack mags mean a wider magwell to assist with mag changes.
  21. My Rudy's are 2 arms and a nose peice connected to the single peice lens. No frame whatsoever. I like it because there is nothing to obstruct your field of vision. Otherwise, I think it's just personal preference.
  22. +1And the micro dot helps me with the distant shots.
  23. 9mm is already a powder puff load. Go bushing as bull barrel would be additional weight that will slow your transitions. Also, get the slide lightened to save weight. If you have the time and money, have Glenn at Lone Star Innovations (or any reputable pistol smith) build you a SDC with a rail. Essentially an Eagle with a rail or what it now STI's Maurader.
  24. Hand warmer or not, it gets below 45 and my Puerto Rican behind stays home. Thankfully in Texas it doesn't get too bad.
