  1. Is there news on that front? How well did you shoot with an optic compared to iron sights? My club is posting info on what makes a legal CCP pistol. Knowing what members we have on board, that tells me that the discision was made. I'm hoping that HQ posts some info on how they came to that conclusion though as I was really hoping for Optics. A far as shooting optics... It's freaking cheating awesome! I'd never shot a pistol equipped with a red dot before. While I did take the time at a local indoor range to sight it in, I didn't get any dry fire practice prior to the match. Finding the dot on the draw is different than irons because there is no reference point to help align you as you bring it up to your target. I'll admit that I don't practice anyways but I was able to get a few practice draws at the match to at least have some idea of what I needed to be doing. Up close I didn't see any real advantage with the dot. So for hoser stages it wouldn't be a game changer. Where the dot really shined was anything 10yrds and further. My target acquisition felt quicker and my followup shots were definitely quicker. I didn't feel a need to make up shots on distant targets. I'm not a uspsa member but if I were, I'd invest in an open gun!
  2. I shot NFC last night with a slide ride optic. Never shot a red dot on a pistol before. It was a lot of fun! That being said, the optic division won't be making the cut. Fortunately, that doesn't stop us from continuing to show up with red dots mounted on our pistols. While my primary gun is out of commission, I'll be shooting NFC.
  3. I like the flat triggers so much I had to have my AR set up with one as well.
  4. Looks like a damn cold day out at Cresson. Video looked grainy at first but then seemed to clear up. That could be a loss of resolution through youtube. Otherwise the video looked good.
  5. Tx is great for all things outdoors. Year round shooting and plenty of major matches to attend within a few hours drive. Of course I may be a tad bias.
  6. I dunno. I've read a few things recently on my local club forums that seem to suggest that the CCP division is going to win out. Not that I'm against it, but I really wanted to get an optics equipped gun for idpa. But along with the CCP division passing, I think there's a change in pistol legality for BUG. Again, nothing concrete, just some stuff I've gathered.
  7. I can see how my original post could be conveyed in that manner. Nothing could be further from the truth.
  8. can I ask, what was your view of service members that made you change your view. While I always had a respect for servicemen, I hadn't given much thought for their families before. This book didn't paint a fairytale of a perfect relationship and was very honest about those struggles.I live in the great state of Texas. I my line of work, I interact with a great many people, lots of them are veterans. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't thank several of them for their service. When I can, I also support organizations that sell items that contribute to veterans and their families. Edit: Change my view probably wasn't what I meant. This book helped me to better understand what servicemen and their loved ones have to endure.
  9. This book helped to change my view of servicemen, their families and what they have to endure. Easily one of my favorite reads. Dave, glad you gave this movie a thumbs up. Normally movies fall short in bringing books to life. Really looking forward to seeing this one as it will be one of my few "must see" this year.
  10. Always entertaining. Thanks Pat and happy new year.
  11. I just went into my LGS and the clerk behind the counter handed me two for free.
  12. Is there anything preventing the development of a LMOS for 9mm?
  13. If the stage description was to take all mags before proceeding, they yeah, a PE would result for not following directions.
  14. For the games most of us play, the minor affect the FCD might have on our accuracy is trivial as best. I've seen enough bad product from Freedom Munitions first hand to not trust their reman ammo. As for the cleaning of the gun, I run my eagle about 800-1k rounds between cleanings. I only do a complete stripping about twice a year. If you read up enough on Frog Lube, you'll see that it can do more harm than good.
  15. If you want a CCO from STI, look at the guardian. Aesthetically it's much nicer with the newer rollmarks. It's a 3.9" bull barrel on an officer frame. The all steel build is a tad heavier, but it also assists with taming SD ammo. It's the single stack version of the VIP. American made and hand assembled in the great state of Texas. It also sits very well in a MS Nexus.
  16. And even at those prices it's still cheaper than open and allows for store bought ammo.
  17. Is that the 9mm SCS or the standard one?

    Spouse Time

She bitches because she doesn't feel we spend enough time together. So when we sit together to watch our favorite shows she's busy on her phone. Wtf? Then when we make plans to do things she changes them so that she can meet up with her friends? Look, you can't complain we don't spend enough quality time together if you're going to make us #2 on the list. *rant off*
  19. +1 for Jim. He worked his magic on the grip of my current 2011 build. Give him a call and he'll ask you a few question so that he can provide you the best grip for your application. You won't be disappointed.
  20. That gap in difference closes up even more when you include reloading on the move again.
  21. Or you could buy from Shooters Connection and save a few bucks. http://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/STI-50-Marauder-40-SW-SC-P3571.aspx
  22. The thigh pocket on my woolrich pants. Makes for an effective mag pouch and it didn't cost me a darn thing.
