  1. Also makes a difference as to whether you're shooting 9, 38, or 38SC. SC allows an extra round in the 170's. Taran's 4G2 base pads are my choice!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. BeerBaron As I mentioned earlier I've had the same issue. Keeping the grooves in my shell plate clean seems to help, but even when everything is perfect the cases tend to lean outward just a little. You mentioned grease under the station 1 locator. I didn't know there was any grease under this. Does this lift it up a bit? Ya, that's a new for me too - grease under station 1.Anyone care to elaborate? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Here's a great vid from Dillon's site that explains to never use wd-40 or light oils to clean/lube your press, but only use grease or motor oil. It also shows how and where to clean and lube your press:
  3. I basically had that same problem this weekend… Dillon had me use 30 weight motor oil in that same spot and it worked. They also have some really good instruction videos on their site for how to clean and lube your press: https://www.dillonprecision.com/#/productvideos.html Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. I have it, I have used it a fair bit (I'd approximate I have cleaned at least 30,000 pieces of brass in various pistol and rifle calibers) and it has been great. I think it is a tremendous value. My only complaint is that I would prefer if they supplied it with the larger pins (0.047") rather than the small pins (which work but have a greater propensity of getting stuck in the primer flash hole). ^ Agree totally! I would definitely avoid using their supplied pins!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I'm a big proponent of practicing the way you compete. So, clean your gun before every match, even local matches. That way you won't be worried when you clean it before a major match. I typically clean the entire top end - aftec, firing pin, bbl. And just wipe down the frame and grip. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Sounds obvious, but to rule out bulged brass, you might try testing with some new brass. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Definitely agree! I think S&W must just use the Perf.Center verbiage as a marketing ploy because they certainly don't give it any additional attention! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. A lot of gun stores like Gander Mountain… Will have a pseudo-gunsmith that does that type of things. I once had my Glock sights replaced, and I think they only charged about $10. So that's about the same price that you might rent that tool for. Might be an option… Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks so much! I moved the tab, I am running it at low speed, and cleaned the inside wheel. 1000 ends later, NOT ONE JAM!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Does anyone else have this issue where the Dillon auto case feeder gets jammed by not quite dropping a round out? This happens when I load nine and 38 super. It probably happens at least one every 100 rounds. Any suggestions as to how I could prevent this annoyance? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  12. I love the idea of a more "permanent grip tape"… But I'm slightly concerned about it permanently changing the grip with the JB Weld. Anyone else have that concern? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. I had a problem with my press once , and made a couple thousand rounds where the primers were not fully seated… and caused light strikes. So I very carefully ran each bullet through and seated the primer more fully on my 650. I definitely do caution against this unless you are going to be extremely careful when reseating that primer! Because I have a buddy who took a picture of his arm when a round went off in his press and blew a big chunk of brass into his forearm… Not a fun way to spend the evening in the emergency room getting that cut out. 14. Really? I used to use Hodgdon Clays, but was told they no longer make it?!? Interesting...
  15. You may use an optic on your revolver... but you'll be promoted to Open Hey, i just had a great idea!!! USPSA should create another class, "Open Revolver". Just kidding... even mentioning that on this forum will incite an uprising. LOL
  16. Anyone ever run into this problem using wet tumbler an steel media... Where a steel pin lodges and then bends your decapping pin? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Hopefully you don't depend on IDPA matches to learn how to defend yourself. In the real world you don't have RO's or stage setters telling you where to go or when to shoot. My suggestion would be to talk to folks that have lived it. Been there and done it.So my biggest complaint about the rules would be " Telling me how to shoot a stage. ". My problem, I'll solve it. "Engage targets as they become visible from within the shooting area" is the only WSB I need (and scoring method and start position of course) Amen! That's why I'm shying away from ICORE. 18. I've never had the opportunity to participate in a match run that way, but think it sounds amazing!! Would probably be a cluster-mess the first few times without someone with experience overseeing it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Or, for just a few dollars you can go to Ace Hardware and buy a long strip of step tape. Be careful taking off your existing Talon grip tape... put it on the new strip of step tape.. Use that as a pattern to cut a brand-new one. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. I definitely like to be able to see through the mags to see the bullets... How they feed!! That's very cool. But I don't think I would actually buy any because I would be too concerned about how they perform. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Yes, as you lighten that trigger it will lighten the firing pin strength. That's why Fed 100 primers are a must!
  22. Either will be fine. The extra mag with the G4 is worth the extra money. If you don't like the recoil of the G4, you can always swap out that funky guide rod to make it more like the 3. But i agree with CallsShots, you should be able to find a used one fairly easily.
  23. How long did it take you to get used to it? For the most part, it just seems natural. Most shot are in the 10-20' distance and require no adjustment. The only real time it requires thought is for a close target that might be a head shot (that's when you ain at the top of the head), or a reall long shot, in which case, just aim a little high to allow for 3" of drop. Not a huge deal. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. Wow, I'm definitely envious!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. I actually do use a shot of Rem oil on the shaft. It's probably not recommended, but seems to smooth the pull slightly. I will say i'm very careful to NOT get it on anything important (primers, etc).
