Unfortunately, I live and Maryland. You can bring all your stuff with you, no worries, it's just that buying new stuff once you're here can get a little pesky. As Rob stated, carry permits are another matter as well. MD is not a "shall issue" state and the application process is a hassel. Since we've gotten Gov. Ehrlich (Republican) things have been a little better for gun owners though. You should be able to get your carry permit here if you articulate your purpose well. JFD, I had the same problem with UC for Major .40 loads loaded out to 1.200" COL. I switched to Titegroup which seemed a little more consistent but a little dirtier. I think the question is not the extreme spread of the load, but "...is the accuracy exceptable?" Regards, Todd

If this year's Area 7 match is anything like past matches then trust me, you won't want to miss it! I've shot the last 3 and they were great matches, well worth the price of entry. Man, some of the stages from last year's match go down in my personal "all time favourites" list.

I don't know how a new 40 rounder works with a semi-auto but the ones we were using at work with the full auto entry gun were problematic. You could pretty much count on a mulfunction of some sort and had a few death jams where the round slipped between the bolt and the charging handle. Got pretty good at crearing that one though...

Way to go Skipper! Way to set a good example for the rest of the team (finally...sheeesh!). Now as soon as I can get my new CZ (boy I hate MD's gun laws!) I'm going to follow that example!

Shooting Production first and although it would be fun to shoot Open the second time around, I'll probably shoot L10 with my Production gear and ammo. Got to think about WSXIV you know! Rockwell, getting a slot won't be an issue. Just be sure to sign up on the waiting list and you will get one. Did you check with your section coordinator? There's a chance you can get one through the section, they usually end up sending slots back to the home office which end up going to the waiting list anyway.

The Ghost is awesome but like most of the other speed holsters out there, you have to use the lock! I've seen a lot of dropped guns from just about all of em...that weren't locked.

I think it's a good mod. It has a slippery surface, is very light, and has a RP spring. All of that adds up to a good thing in my gun.

Sam, There was a stage at the '04 AWARE that used a similar concept, at least in the practical application. The "Werewolves of London" stage had an activator that was lever based. When the shooter stepped on the pedal, that was about 2'x1' big, a 2 target array popped up. When you took your foot off the array disappeared. The catch was that the harder you stepped on the activator or the heavier you were, the quicker the targets appeared. I think it's a valid concept, as is yours. I was really disapointed with myself on that stage. I did the same thing Eric, tensed up, and I blew it. I wanted to end the match with a stage win and was soooo tense. had trigger freeze on the first split and made up a D. I ended up a second slow on the stage because of it.... Thanks for bringing up that old chestnut! Flex, My Glock malfunctioned on the stage next to it, the prone stage. It didn't go into battery on the first split after I drove it into the dirt. When I started to pull it back to clear it, it fixed itself. First malfunction in about a gazillion rounds...

TL, If you have a problem with "newer" mags dropping free then here's a little thing to check out: Look at the notch in the mag and suspect that your mags have a bur in them where the mag body is slamming against the catch. The bur will be on bottom of the notch and can easily be trimmed off. It's important to not touch the top of the notch though as that is the part that holds the mag in. Removing the bur off the bottom of the notch should do the trick, unless you're using old non-drop free mags. Russ, Wus-a-matta-u!? You no strong enuff to use the stock spring? I wouldn't do that for the reason that you mentioned: pre mature ejection!

I agree with Jake. What will help flinching is shooting the handgun with no concern for accuracy (other than hitting the backstop of course). Clear your mind of every pre-conceived idea of what you think should happen when you fire a handgun. Just grip the gun, slowly squeze the trigger, and watch with both eyes open. You're not looking at the sights, you're just watching the gun as it fires. You will start to become more aware of how the trigger feels as the gun fires and how the gun feels when it cycles (assuming you're shooting a semi-auto). It also may be helpful to start with an air gun or a rim fire pistol and then progress to higher powered cartridges later. After you do that, then you can do some group shooting. Focus clearly on the front sight, properly aligned with the rear notch, and slowly press the trigger untill the pistol fires. You're not trying to make the shot happen, you're letting it happen. You are watching the sight and trying to see the front sight bade lift out of the notch. The shot should almost surprise you but not quite, because you are too aware of how the trigger feels when the shot breaks. Good luck and keep at it. Stick with the forum too, there is so much to learn from this group of shooters!

TL, I shot a 2nd gen G22 all year, just because. I tried a friend's 35 and didn't really like it, just because. My duty gun is a 22 (not the same one, of course) and maybe I just like familiar things... Here's my set up: -Heinie slant pro's, .105" thinned front -Standard slide catch -Factory extended mag catch (it's important that you "wear" down the edges. I'd say radius the corners, but that would be an external modification. If it's wear, it's O.K. ) -13lb Wolffe recoil spring -Harts guide rod (because I had it laying around, If I had to buy a rod, it would be a tungston one) -stock barrel, polished feed ramp -Lightning Strike Ti striker and safety plunger, Ghost Rocket 3.5lb connector, reduced power striker spring, and all surfaces polished. -Skateboard tape (although I would like to try the A-grip stuff) Hope you've been inspired. That's easy...the G22 is faster. The longer G35 takes longer to clear the holster (assuming your not using a race holster). No, seriously, what Flex said. Personally I prefer the G22 though, but what do I know?

Had to go with Production, although it is kind of a "glutton for punishment" Division. I know what you mean, Steve. I shot a 28 rd field course at York one time without a reload. That was just wrong....but it fealt so right though....darn.

yeah, what Alan said. You'd have to put your name on the waiting list on the USPSA web site on or after 1/1/05, if you couldn't get a slot through your section.
