  1. Add me to the list of happy guys Mark.... I finally got a chance to set up my CARBS after receiving the 14 inch strap you kind folks sent. Works like a charm. I love the ability to be able to ratchet it tight for a stage and back it off afterward. I had several comment at a local match this weekend on both the entire belt and the ratchets. I'm sure a few orders will be made this morning from the PNW.
  2. What "primer upgrades" are those ? Look on ebay, also look up the ball upgrade under the shell plate. Don't waste your money on the bearing for the shell plate in really doesn't work well. If the bearing mod doesn't work well , you simply haven't done it right. I haven't had an issue after tuning the ejector spring had mine going on 8 years as is now...
  3. I have loaded and prepped brass for .223 on both on a 650 and on a 1050 all with Dillon dies. If I was in your position I would use Dillon dies for one reliability of the brass entering the die when running in the press as Dillon dies have a more generous flare opening and two reliability of feeding in the rifle as Dillon dies are essentially SB dies. I don't have neck tension "issues" however I go one more step in using a Lyman "M" die to open up neck a little and slightly open then up for more consistent seating.
  4. I think getting the 14 inch strap is probably the best option. Going up a size in the belt panel may create an issue of not being to close it down tight enough. I'll give you folks a call after the 4th of July holiday.
  5. I got mine a week ago but still haven’t set it up because I have been busy this month with family commitments now that summer has arrived and my kids are off school. I’ve trial fit it on and been debating whether to send it back for exchange to an X-Large (40-47). I measured myself with pants and an inner belt on and was right at 39 inches so got the Large (35-42) but when I put it on the belt end only enters the buckle comfortably at buckle by 2-3 ratchet serrations. Mark what do you think? I assume moving up a size increase the actual belt size by a 5 inches and the ratchet stays the same. It appears to me there is too much of an end to end gap on the belt itself. The way it is now also somewhat forces me to have the ratchet between 5-6 o’clock with my holster worn on the right side, making it a little awkward to adjust.
  6. I SS clean my 9mm brass primers in but absolutely make sure it completely dry. No need to buy an additional dryer, Either dry your brass on the towel in the sun for an afternoon or lay it on an old cookie sheet and place it in the over preheated to 200 degrees then turn off, leave until it cools down to touch.
  7. Good luck, I'll be watching your thread. I have a FNS 9L that I have been sitting on for all the same reasons. I'm about to send it back to FN just to see what the can do with it, cause in pulling it out of the safe to just mess around with it the other week. I noticed that the trigger shoe rubs against the right side of the frame as it passes through cutoff.
  8. Midway 56 inch drag bag. Handles my 12 tube shotgun.
  9. Fixed it for you Did he get his entry fee back? I have just tried a GLS recently and the Safariland ALS with the OTD NUB MOD is even better than the GLS IMHO, much faster release. I thought it was crazy to spend the $30 but after a few practice draws saw it was money well spent. http://www.otdefense.com/nub-mod-for-als.html I do want to get a GLS to accommodate a couple of other pistols I have that I would like to use for 3gun once in a while.
  10. I run a Carbon Arms 8 plus 4 for 12 total and cut my spring initially to 7 inches with the spring lightly preloaded so the first coil exiting the end of the tube in free air is pushed inside. With the tube full engaging the "Cartridge Drop Lever" or "Benelli button" releases a shell onto the carrier no problem. I can top it off again and it will cycle all 13 rounds provided that it's the correct load of course.
  11. 2 lumens per a foot is about right I guess.... Practically I know that I have engaged full size USPSA targets at 200 yards with a Vortex viper PST 1-4 (illumination at 6-8) and a NITECORE P12 at high pretty easily in pitch black range conditions.
  12. You may want to consider the Nitecore P12 (2015) as well... I've used one at my job everyday and as a part time EDC for over a year. Has great features especially the voltage capacity sense and the P12 also remembers when you're in strobe mode and turn off the light, which I think might be important in a tactical situation. http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?381868-Nitecore-P12-%28XM-L2-1x18650-2xCR123A-RCR%29-Review-BEAMSHOTS-RUNTIME-VIDEO http://www.ebay.com/itm/NiteCore-Precision-Series-P12-LED-FlashLight-1000-Max-Lumens-Sheath-Clip-5-1-2/331749123096?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D777000%26algo%3DABA.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D36892%26meid%3D1754be68470a4beeb7f655ba6081ce2b%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26mehot%3Dag%26sd%3D361557854821 At a 3Gun match that I know will require light on my AR or shotgun for a stage I use a Vikings tactical mount that I keep in the range bag just for such occasions.
  13. I own a couple of MGM SV they make a great product. I recently picked up a couple of 3D printed ones from these guys and they also fit and work well and are very affordable. https://mkmachining.com/index.php/product/index/1/1
  14. After seeing Snopeczynski's ratchet setup at a match I too was reluctant that it would work well for my current ELS belt set-up. Plus I wasn't too thrilled of taking the studs off to accommodate the install. Mark then released the details of the entire CARBS belt set-up coming out and after talking to him measured my exact waist size with pants and inner belt on to find the best size. I'm still waiting for it to arrive but have been pondering of where in relation to my gear I will set the ratchet up. I'm a right hand shooter and thinking about 4 o'clock right behind my holster. That should make it readily accessible for adjustment and give me as much real estate to mount ELS clips as possible around my left hand side for pouches. I'm really looking forward to getting this belt as the only thing I dislike about the ELS belt itself is the give/take you have to deal with when engaging the two locking studs. It's always seems too tight or too loose.
  15. When anything like this happens the best thing to do is start from scratch. Titegroup is an extremely consistent throwing powder. I would tear you measure down, give everything a good cleaning with soap and water then dry (scrub the inside of the powder funnel with a new plastic bore brush). Wipe the powder bar down with alcohol before reassembly, then reset everything with dummy rounds in all stations. I check throws before every loading session and every 100 rounds, literally have had my powder dialed in with TG going through 8#s or more without touching it. When something goes weird (rarely) that is my fix. I run a Uniquetek micrometer dial and baffle on my powder measures.
  16. I'm curious too... at $250 delivered tempted just to order one.
  17. I had come across a similar issue helping a friend out that had just bought a used 650 get it set up to load. May be unrelated to any issue the OP is having, so consider it a tip. Removing the primer anvil assembly once in a while to clean and lubricate does wonders for giving primer seating feeling and IMO takes advantage of all the leverage possible that the press can mechanically achieve when seating. I remove the anvil assembly clean it in solvent actuating several times, blow dry with compressed air and lightly apply CLP or other lube of choice carefully not to get on the face of the anvil itself. Upon reinstallation make sure it’s snug not to come loose, then add a small dab of grease to the contact point that the handle linkage actuates the anvil assembly.
  18. I think the whole point of moving to a Safariland rig would be to have the ability to remove, install and adjust your belt set-up depending on the stage. "the best way to go?" for work gear.... I thought this was a multigun board on a competition forum? OP your best bet to get those pouches on a ELS forks is to carefully drill as required, chicago screws and blind nuts. I suggest picking up some nylon washers to use as spacers as required as well.
  19. This past week... Shot a couple rounds of trap for practice. Finished developing a new rifle load... loaded 500 rounds, tuned the gas block for the new load and the new RCA lightweight BCG I just installed, final zeroed my 1-6.
  20. Charley's Steakhouse Chain in FL. I used to visit the Tampa location every 3 months over the course of 6 years and it still is the bar I set when comparing others. The Ages fillet steaks are so tender you can literally cut them with the back of a butter knife. Amazing! http://www.charleyssteakhouse.com/about/locations/
  21. So I'm curious as to what sort of accuracy you are getting at 25 yards with a 790 fps / 165g load with a G34s barrel twist rate.I run one of the older Wilson 1/10 twist barrels. I've never bench rested it but it's plenty accurate enough for me to shoot 0's / A's at acceptable speed at 25yds for me. And you haven't seen any issues with bullet stabilization? Zero issues. Only guys I've seen tumbling 165's (or anything really) is a crimp issue. My benchmark for accuracy for any load is holding no more than 6 inches at 25 yards rested. The reason being that a 6 inch falling plate at 25 yards is the smallest target you will practically engage in USPSA. I guess that I'll have to order and load some samples to test them myself to satisfy my curiosity.
  22. If it’s a noticable preload it will most likely affect your POI with slugs, but you won’t know until you sight it in. TACCOM makea a clamp that addresses the issue.

  24. How old is the 870? How many rounds? Are the action bars properly lubed and broken in, are binding at all? Have you reworked the trigger/carrier group recently? When all appears lost to explaination. I findf that a good detail strip, clean lube and reassemble usually resolves issue. A good clean and light relube of your trigger /carrier group will probably fix it.
  25. Another note to add is if you are making any adjustments, such as with the primer seating depth. Double check your shell plate to ensure its locked down with minimal play and have dummy rounds in all stations when making adjustments.
