Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I really hope that someone knows of something because I really like the gun, except for the trigger.
  2. Another Vortex 1-6 option is the Strike Eagle. It does not have a clear of a lens as the Razor, but it has a similar reticle, with all marks illuminated for a couple hundred dollars instead of $1300. I run a Razor on my rifle, we put a Strike Eagle on my girlfriend's ultra light 3 gun rifle. Another advantage other than cost is that it weighs just 16 ounces, instead of 32. I know that the razor is a much higher quality scope (I haven't found one that I like as much), but if someone were on a tighter budget the Strike Eagle is a great option for the $$$$.
  3. I have tried a forward pistol grip on a little shorter rifle that had a rail on bottom. I found that I was more stable without the pistol grip, and as many others have stated, it can get in the way with barricades and dump boxes. I use a long handguard to get a longer grip, and wrap my hand around it for a very firm and steady grip.
  4. I really hope that everything works out to be held again for 2017, the 2015 match was a great time, even though my performance was less than ideal. I was not going to be able to make this match this year anyway, so I hope to be there again next year.
  5. I shot this match for the first time last year. It was definitely among my favorite matches. Unfortunately, I am not going to make this match this year, but I am definitely wanting to make it again next year.
  6. I'm looking to access the broad range of knowledge and experience from around the country about my FNS 40L. I purchased it a couple years ago as my 3 gun/USPSA pistol having been informed that there were manufacturers working on triggers, base pads, magwells, etc. After about 2 years, Carbon Arms has released magazine base pads for it, but I have not been able to find a replacement trigger. The factory trigger has a long , fairly hard pull, and I'm not crazy about the hinged trigger design myself. Does anyone know of a manufacturer that is making a replacement trigger for this pistol? I like the gun otherwise and don't really want to replace the pistol, but if I can't find a trigger that I like for it, I'm afraid that is where I am at. Thank you in advance for your help.
  7. I am currently running a Stoeger M3000 26" for my 3-gun shotgun as well. I did not run any hot loads through mine for any break in. My bolt would occasionally not close fully at first. All that was required to make mine function properly was fully disassembly and thoroughly clean all components, particularly the bolt because it wouldn't rotate and lock intermittently. It's been around 1 year and about 1500 rounds now with almost no malfunctions. The only malfunctions I ever have is when I attempt to run extremely light loads on the factory bolt and springs. I keep to 1200 fps or more round and have no malfunctions at all. Very reliable, but doesn't like to run dirty. Keep it clean and it should treat you well and be a blast to shoot!
  8. I definitely recommend cerakote. Painting a competition rifle that gets thrown into barrels and other dump boxes can get scratched pretty quickly and rapidly start looking rough and cheap. Cerakote does cost more, but is very durable for the sometimes rough conditions that are encountered in competition. One last note, I recommend looking at the cerakote website to view some of the colors. They have a wide variety of colors. My brother-in-law runs a "Dewalt" as many of the other competitors call it, he has called it "Bumble Bee". His is corvette yellow with black hardware. My rifle is socom blue (which is essentially royal blue) with black hardware. I even had my scope mount coated to match. The color is a semigloss. I would have preferred a gloss, but still has some shine to it and is not as flat as I was led to believe it would be.
  9. I currently am running a FNS 40L. Overall, I love the gun. But, as previously stated, it lacks any aftermarket replacement components. I managed to find a fiber optic front sight made by Hi-Viz. This gun definitely needs a trigger job. It feels very similar to the factory M&P trigger that was in my M&P 45 to me. It does appear to be a similar trigger to the M&P, so I was going to try an Apex trigger. Also, there are no mag extensions currently, but carbon arms is working on some and the word that I have received is that they ran into some kinks, but could possibly be released in the coming 1-2 months. ergonomically, this gun has been the best that I have owned. One last dilemma that I have encountered with this gun is the lack of a holster. I modified the Bladetech holster for my FNX 9 by cutting the lip from the bottom and allowing the slide to protrude from the bottom of the holster.
  10. This was a fantastic match with a lot of excellent shooters. I would like to thank any/all of the match/stage sponsors that may see this, and a special thanks to mark for all of your work putting this match together. Finally, congratulations to all shooters who competed in this match. It was a very competitive match. Hope to see you again next year!
  11. hello to everyone. I am new to this site.
