  1. And I was hoping to get a "bad" casefeeder out of the deal... Glad it was that simple, enjoy.
  2. It sounds like the primer cup is not coming up thru the hole in the shell plate centered. Do you notice it catching at all during the primer seating operation? I don't have the casefeeder (want one) on my 550 but have run into this when I first set up my press.
  3. From the research I've done and the LEO's I've spoke to there is NO provision for magazine capacity over 10rnds if the mag was built after Sept. 1994. The provision are only made to allow you to bring the weapon in state to compete at the match. Now, not sure how to tell the date of magazine manufacture but I'm sure a case could be made that if the pistol you are shooting wasn't designed / built until 10yrs ago there is a good chance the high capacity mags for it were not produced prior to that. I think that since this question has been asked several times and there is no "Official" response given may be an indication of how sensitive an issue this is. As I see it, the law is the law. As stated, it is a felony, so I choose not to test the law. I don't agree with it but I don't vote in that state so it's not for me to contest. It will be L-10 for out of Vermont endeavors for me.
  4. To answer your original question, If I'm carrying 4 mags they ALL will have extensions on them. Bad mag, fumbled mag, borrowed mag, etc. can make you wish you had more. I can carry 5 20 rounders plus the 1 I start with but usually run with 4 over all. We had a match last summer that had well over 50 pieces of steel on one stage. If your like me, you better have 80 rnds on hand.
  5. Brian, that patch is for the 78th infantry Division (Lightning Brigade) My Grandfather proudly wore this during WWII as a SSGT in Germany thru the D-day invasion to wars end and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. You can read more about it here.

    Thanks for asking.

    Draw times

I think you may find that it's not just an issue of arm length but more the fact that we with longer arms also have a longer torso. This means the distance from your holster to your sight line is going to also be greater. Now add to that the fact that you are moving the sights out further from your face due to the long arms and times are bound to increase. The positive side, having those longer arms gets you out closer to the target.. Really, the speed on the draw shold be the least of your worries...
  7. The cost of a new magazine is about the cost of a 100rnd box of WWB so get yourself one more mag and throw it in your back pocket if you don't have a mag holder for it.!!!! Problem solved, your now running production with little risk if you dump a mag or have a failure.......
  8. +1 for Bobby Keigans....... But shouldn't the question be, who has the best customer service, work quality, T.A.T. for the price regardless of how you contact them??? You'll find the same players mentioned in that arena also so feel comfortable your in the right hands.......
  9. By the looks of the cresent shaped gouge in the first and last primer in the Pic I would say you had some primer seating issues to start with but probably not a large cause for the offset strikes but you should adjust your loading process. My Limited also strikes a bit off center but not to that extent. It's possible that the FP hole is not center or that it's diameter is to large. It looks like the dimple from the FP in the primer is distorted which I think indicates some lateral movement of the FP when being forced by the hammer into the primer. This could indicate a high primer but it would probably be more random. Have you seen the same with a factory load? If so and it looks the same I would tend to go towards the FP hole being off centered with the bore when locked up..
  10. When I originally purchased my Limited I ran WWB in the stock .40S&W with the stock base pad as well as one updated with the Hennings kit and had feed issues each time (1-2 per mag) Since I switch to the 10mm mags and my own long reloads I never tried to take any actions to figure out that problem. I still ran into nose dive issues with my current set up but with much less frequency and can usually be attributed to my brass, mag tuning or who knows what else. I am currently anxious to see a new Mec -Gar mag for this platform otherwise I have an STI Edge in the works for the future. I just love the look/feel of that Limited though.
  11. Try doing that with a model that has 30 or so years on it and see how many you can get done in an hour before it blows a gasket!!!
  12. We're supposed to see an 1" per hour till Thursday morning... It's Vermont, we'll just use snowblowers instead of laying down fault lines for Feb's match..
  13. +1 on the Atranite, good stuff.....
  14. My very first stage went so poorly the late 70+ R.O. looked me square in the face and said "I'm not even sure how I'm going to score this one"! All I could do was LMAO and know it could only get better. 2 years later, there are some day's it's not any better!!!
  15. Sent an Email to Mec-Gar on the status of the 40S&W's and had no reply......
  16. As a Tanfoglio runner with some feed issues I will agree this is the case AS LONG as the equipment runs well. After a year of stage after stage of loosing time to feed issues I switched to a "lesser" gun and and my performance increased because I could focus on the game and not the gun.
  17. I use the long thin pin to get the holes lined up initially before driving in the pin used to secure the magwell. Make sure you get the front of the grip into the slot at the front of the magwell well seated before trying to put the pin in. On my Pro9mm it slides right on, for some reason on my Pro .40 I had to push the front of the well against the work bench to get the holes to line up..
  18. Large frame .40 S&W and 10mm soon PLEASE!!!!
  19. If your going with the magwell your going to want to get Taylor mag extensions from Speed Shooter Specialties also. They are offered modified to work with the magwell. The standard mag extensions will work fine until you add a magwell but will not insert into a magwell without modifications, not a lot of work but why not buy them already modified. My .02.....
  20. Adam, I just had my Springfield Stainless 1911 Atranite coated by FGW. I'll be running it at the match this weekend so you can find me and check out the finish if you like. I think for the price and the re-finsh guarentee you would have a tough time finding a better option if you want it BLACK...... If you want a little flash you can polish up the control systems like I did but have to demand some range time for the idea.. Rod. (Not the French One)
  21. That really sucks, great that nobody in your family was hurt. On a positive note, the authorities will probably have more interest in finding and getting the guns back than they would a big screen T.V. (No Offense to our Law Enforcement members intended).
  22. Come pay us a visit, we have others from your end of the Northeast on occassion. Yeah, it's a haul, but you'll enjoy our group. http://www.gmpsvt.com/
  23. As I noted earlier I think this is a fine decision for you and have done it myself. Your still out there shooting, you don't need to spend the extra cash until your ready if you decide you want to. Initially your competition is yourself and what the others are doing should not be your concern until you want it to be. You may not be able to compete with all who are running major but you will with some. You'll still find yourself improving each match which is what's really important. HAVE FUN!!!
  24. Getting involved in this sport you will no longer have that problem!!!! It will no loger be lying around, it will be waiting clean, waiting loading and waiting for you to make it an empty case again...
