  1. But if you can buy a Sig Max, which comes with a Dawson Ice magwell and quality internals for $1,200.00, or Dan Wesson for similar money, spending more seems unnecessary.
  2. $55.00 each!! They must be proud of them.
  3. I don't normally recommend Springfield Armory 1911s, but I like the Trophy Match and it's a ton cheaper.
  4. The Taccom ramp fixed my ATI (NFA clone) gun. Rounds, particularly HP bullets would slam into the breech and stop. With the ramp, rounds of all type are funneled straight to the chamber. This is with the Taccom huge mag extension (57 rounds) and any other mags I've tried.
  5. If I was starting over, I'd go with the Sig Max in 9mm & .40 S&W (back when they made them in .40 S&W).
  6. Sig Max comes already set up with quality parts, including Dawson Ice magwell. Hard to beat that deal, as long as the funky slide contours don't bother you. Bonus, you get front strap checkering. Same for Dan Wesson. These will cost more but you wont need to spend any more on the gun itself.
  7. I've read (but have no way of confirming) that Brownell's branded mags are also Metalforms with a black coating. Their price is pretty good too. https://www.brownells.com/magazines/handgun-magazines/magazines/1911-9mm-magazines-prod84195.aspx?avs|Make_3=1911&avs|Cartridge_1=APP_9%2bmm%2bLuger
  8. Why I said weigh it with the heaviest mag. That way any mag you give them at weigh-in will be at or below what you know its max is. And sticking at 42.9 on your scale s like asking to shoot 8 round Open. A little too much grease, dirt or the wrong magazine and your day just got destroyed. Makes a great story afterward though (as long as you make weight). That said, I once choro''d at exactly 125 power factor (shooting Production). Shooting for no score, that would have been a blast. Not.
  9. I would think your heaviest mag making weight on multiple scales all but guarantees you're not shooting open with 8 round mags at a major match.
  10. Were they Scorpion, or something similar? Black plastic, retention adjustment screws similar to old Double Alpha model? They were sold on Amazon, along with a decent holster until recently. Seen them at the range, they were surprisingly good quality for the price. Looked, couldn't find them anymore.
  11. Check your over travel. Properly adjusted, it should keep the trigger bow from bottoming out on the grip safety.
  12. This, though I believe it's just the cap that's different. Get a standard mainspring cap, along with the little pin that holds it all together and you should be GTG.
  13. Interesting. I'm assuming the G21 has the same unique set of circumstances.
  14. I thought the most effective ways to minimize felt recoil were spring tuning and slide lightening. G20, like the G21 has a heavy slide. Other than being able to load long for ammo compatibility (with your Single Stack, I'm assuming you don't have any 2011 Limited guns if you're setting up a Glock for this division), why would the G20 be a better option than a G35 or G24? Seems the heavier reciprocating mass would increase the felt recoil, and the bigger frame being made of plastic have almost no effect on weight.
  15. Never had a fitting problem with the Dawson MSH, just wish the checkering was taller/stood out more from the grip.
  16. Techwell magwell & grips: $150.00, Front strap checkering: $200.00 (?) Tool steel ignition kit, $150.00 Serrations on top of slide: $100.00 (?) Kind of cool trigger: $50.00 Fiber optic front sight: $40.00. Ten round magazine: $25.00 Most of these are solid upgrades, and stuff I'd pay for (with the exception of the front strap checkering, I'd go with skate tape here, but I'd prefer the checkering if I could get it on a gun when I bought it). And it comes with a ten round magazine, not the nine round unit most others come with. Not sure about front strap checkering and slide serrations pricing, correct me if I'm off base on those. About $700.00 in "upgrades" you'd have to pay for if you wanted to add them to some base Springfield RO. And you get a two-tone paint job, and kind of cool slide cocking serrations, though if you don't like them, you're kind of screwed. Not sure what a regular SR1911 in 9mm goes for (I live in California, so I'm not allowed to buy one), but the $1,700.00 while not a screaming deal, doesn't seem too unreasonable. Of course it's pointed out earlier that a Sig Max goes for $1,300.00, and it's similarly equipped. The deal killer for me is buying a gun with some other guy's name on it. At least the Sig keeps it low key.
  17. If it's anything like the 1911s, they'll sit on them for about 75 years, then try to give them to CMP to sell at inflated prices.
  18. Yeah, I was leery of the DPP based on what I've read, but my local range had a ton of guys who shoot a lot and swear by them. That and Leupold's outstanding customer service and warranty put me a bit at ease. That said, my two (one on a milled G17 and another on an M&P C.O.R.E.) have been trouble free so far. Only a few thousand rounds so far, but, fingers crossed. The window size is a game changer. I was using a Shield RMS, which is the company that make J-Point dots. Nice dot, crisp, no starburst, and low on the slide. But the window is tiny and the glass is a joke. Again, their warranty makes this less of an issue, but at dusk, brown targets on a brown berm become a challenge. For a carry gun (not an issue for me, I live in California for now), it's ideal. For competition, not so much.
  19. Homer Bucket on a home-made cart. Handle is removable with one spring button, so it easily fits in the back of a pickup truck, van or SUV. I use these for magazine storage: https://www.brownells.com/shooting-accessories/range-gear/magazine-storage-pouches/semi-auto-magazine-storage-pouch-prod4151.aspx The four slot pouch fits, and it's ideal for any division. Eight mags total for Production, two mag holders. Four mags for Ltd, CO, one pouch. Eight single stack mags fit in one, so again ideal. Fit easily in Homer bucket with gun in standard pistol envelope type pouch, tools, parts and ear protection. And I don't need a special bag for whatever division I'm shooting. Just pick up the gun and mags, drop in bucket and go to range.
  20. Yeah, I kind of with I had gone the cheap aftermarket slide instead of milling the Glock slide. Would have cost a few bucks more but my Glock slide would be intact. looks good Eric. How do you like the Holosun? How does it compare to the Leupold Deltapoint Pro?
  21. I like the standard STI Bomar knock-offs. Square blade, not sure width, but .1" front sight gives plenty of daylight on both sides. Bottom makes no difference (U notch or square), if I'm doing it right, I"m looking at the top of the sights and they're at the same height when I pull the trigger.
  22. Here you go. My favorites: https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1005732426/springfield-armory-adjustable-rear-sight-1911-novak-cut-steel-blue Also: https://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/sights/sight-sets/1911-fusion-fiber-optic-adjustable-dovetail-sight-set-sku100023168-97683-192388.aspx?cm_mmc=cse-_-Itwine-_-shopzilla-_-100-023-168&utm_medium=cse&utm_source=connexity&utm_campaign=itwine&utm_content=100-023-168&gclid=CjwKCAiA3vfgBRB9EiwAkfpd3I2HzGFlnadEG86Nj8ZIAFbDLBX_yn1Aw37sL-Vf8v110vtIrK542RoCokcQAvD_BwE
  23. Hard to beat Arredondo on Glock mags. Not so much on M&P mags. The Magpul 21 round mags are advertised as fitting the 140mm gauge, are they 140mm, and if yes why do they only hold 21 rounds?
  24. Yeah, Gucci is wasted on a Glock. Good luck.
