  1. Your gun, your choice. Not judging, but generally speaking, I don't recommend anyone do anything to a gun "safety" (yes I know it's a redundant "feature" that doesn't even exist on most other guns) that is not easily reversible. Not saying don't do it, but if there are reversible methods, why recommend someone chop a part that may (or may not) have to be replaced and will necessitate expensive work when there are ways that don't destroy the part? And why remove the arm if the unit is pinned? Just asking...
  2. Yeah, use Metalform mags. You can't get rounds out of those mags without using a tool. Sounds like a pain until you realize most of the time you unload them through the gun barrel, and when unloading manually you're not on the clock.
  3. As stated earlier, ruining a grip safety is not the best move. You'll have to put a new one on if you sell the gun or ever want to reactivate it, and they almost always require blending, which may necessitate refinishing of the gun. If you can drill a plastic housing, you can drill a metal one. Drill press not required (but makes the job much easier). Or pay someone to do it. It's cheaper than fitting and blending a new BTGS and refinishing your gun. Or use the shock buff method mentioned. Or the rubber band, or tape. Any of them is better than ruining a part.
  4. Or pin it and be done with that redundancy.
  5. Can't use 1911/2011 in CO. Must be production gun, SA/DA, DAO or striker fired. A Para LDA is legal. Not sure about a revolver.
  6. I've used Metalform 10 round mags with great success. Reasonably priced, and they work. If you're going with the Ice magwell, get the Dawson mags. They use Metalform tubes and guts, with their base, which you'll need to reliably seat mags with the Ice magwell.
  7. Anyone ever try a 4.2" bull barrel gun in Single Stack? Minor I'm assuming would be the preference. How close to 43 oz could one realistically get that gun, and what would the recoil be like compared to a 5" 9mm? I get that you'd be giving up a bit of sight radius, and maybe need a bit more powder to make minor, it'd be interesting to know if it's worth the trouble to build a gun for that. And could a top end be built for a 5" gun? In other words, is a 4.2" slide able to work on a standard frame?
  8. Now put a 90 on the bottom of that nipple and mount them to the wall.
  9. Up here, in northern CA .45 brass is hard to find. .40 is all over the place. Same for 9mm.
  10. Got the Glock one, with an ETS 32 round mag and Korean 17 round mag, holds 45 rounds easy (probably more, but I've never put more than 45 in it) with no issues.
  11. I doubt it's a viable alternative, as stated it's hard to track the laser unless you've practiced it extensively. It was cool to watch though. We also do night matches and they shine there (pun intended).
  12. Actually around just before sunset. Sun was behind the targets. Cat said it was a cheap $30.00 unit from Amazon. Distance was only about 6' or so, whatever the distance for Can You Count is. Laser was bright, even in the sandy berm.
  13. Recently saw a guy use a laser on a classifier, Can You Count. Never brought the gun to his shoulder. Wicked fast time. Hit factor was like 11. He also nailed his reloads, so you still gotta shoot the gun, but was fun to watch.
  14. Just spit Pizza out my nose. That's funny.
  15. I have a 550 with bullet feeder and case feeder. You need a seat/crimp die, and some 3/8" aluminum Rod to lower the Bulletfeeder so the spring tube has some slack, but other than that no issues. I've timed it, I can do 100 rounds in 5 minutes (4:40 - 5:10), so I don't feel like I'm losing much speed over a 650, even having to index. Certainly not enough to justify the cost of upgrading.
  16. If you look at the pic in post 1 you'll notice the rifle is almost vertical, and when you pull the cart, it actually ends up being vertical. Baby stroller carts are a different story. My concern and the reason for the thread was that I repurposed an old Korean mag as the part that holds the gun in place. It's filled with epoxy and the lips are ground off so there is no way to put a round in it, but I was concerned somebody might object to a "magazine" being in the gun, despite the fact that said magazine is not capable of supplying ammo to the gun cause it's full of epoxy and has a 3 foot aluminum Rod protruding from it at an awkward angle. Nobody came to this conclusion, so it appears my concern was unwarranted. I also asked the powers-that-be at my range and they approved of the design.
  17. The scabbard us attached to the cart, I'm in California, so all outdoors. I just un-scabbard against at berm and go to the line with the muzzle up. As stated, it should take no more time than an Open shooter.
  18. I've gone with the scabbard for now. For no specific reason.
  19. Thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind. I never scoff at inexpensive optics that work and last, they're just not that common. My TRS25 and your Sightmark being the exceptions. I agree about preferring the open glass optic, though I find it makes no difference in my shooting (so I'm either equally proficient with either or so bad a shooter that the optic won't help, draw your own conclusions). Right now I have the TRS25 working, when (if) it craps out, I have C More STS on a backup PCC (uses Colt mags, so I'd probably just swap uppers), then an Aimpoint ACO that I got in a trade I'll install as a last resort. For whatever reason, I'm red dot rich these days.
  20. So far the 3MOA Bushnell is holding up well. Easy to acquire and hasn't failed yet. Nice when you don't have to spend a ton.
  21. My ATI (NFA clone) keeps losing firing pin tips. First time I heard it hit the wall in the garage while dry firing, zero live rounds through gun. Second time at match, stage 1, never got a shot off. I replaced it and they let me reshoot. Got an e mail to ATI, they say they're researching it. We shall see. They did send me a new firing pin the first time. I also had a CMMG pin to make the second repair. Got 3 spare CMMG pins on order from 9mmar.com. Kind of annoying. Bob burs in FP tunnel, no issues with fit, the pin drops in and moves without issue. It appears that as the pin strikes the end of its tunnel the impact is causing an issue.
  22. I've used the NC Star, $20.00 from Amazon for a few local matches, so far no issues. https://www.amazon.com/byNcStar-Tactical-Rifle-Scabbard-CVRSCB2919B/dp/B0050KFHMG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1491361300&sr=8-2&keywords=rifle+scabbard I have it hung from a rack on my cart, and unclip it and take it to the line in the scabbard, then reholster the rifle at the end of the stage.
  23. Had the same thing happen to a Safariland USPSA hanger. Straps on that were junk aluminum (what genius at Safariland decided aluminum would be a good retainer strip?). I replaced them with Kydex, it's held up really well so far.
  24. The only improvement I'd wish for would be magazine pockets, but I just use an i shot magazine storage pouch so it's not a huge deal. It has one pistol pouch and locking compartments too.
  25. I doubt I'd get rid of it, but the I WOULD like a 650. Just too cheap to buy one and get it geared up for that calibers I load.
