  1. Hello: I am shooting 3.1 grains Tite Group with 124 Extremes at 1.140" OAL. Your JP will need a little more powder to make the 131-134PF that I shoot. Going to try some new powder next week to see if it shoots a little softer and maybe a bit cleaner. No buildup on a couple of comps I have tried including my own comp. The 124's is an accurate bullet in the JP and is the best for USPSA pistol matches that I have tried. With the longer barrel it tends to burn or wear off the coatings on coated bullets. I have tried a couple of different coated bullets in the AR9 and it is smokey and leaves lead and coating in the comp. I really like Tite Group but someone gave me this other powder to try. Hope this helps. Thanks, Eric
  2. Hello: Since you have a 14.5" barrel and I am guessing it has a pinned and welded comp on there now you will need to remove the old one first. I would use the lightest tube to make it 16" long. I have run a 16" with just a thread protector I made out of a piece of aluminum. Works great. Thanks, Eric
  3. Hello: I use a real 8lb ISMI recoil spring. What I do is test the springs before I install them and check them after they have been used for a little bit. Some springs say they are 9lbs or whatever but when you test them they are actually 7 or 11. I tested a spring the other day that should have been an 8 lb spring and it was actually 9.5lbs. 8lb springs with give good dot tracking and will feed very well if the pistol is setup correctly. Thanks, Eric
  4. Hello: No need for co-witness sights at all on a pistol. You can index off the slide and hit targets pretty easy out to 25 yards. I have shot stages when I forgot to turn the dot on when doing a table start. I even shot a match when my front sight fell off on the first stage on my iron sight pistol. If you know where the gun shoots at different distances you are better off. Thanks, Eric
  5. Hello: I just got a bottle of the Lovex D037.01 to try. Will see how it work s for the 9mm major loads. HS-6 is my normal go to powder and should work for you. Thanks, Eric
  6. Hello: I clean them with Brake Clean and use Red Loctite. I don't use a thumb rest but you could put some on the back side of the thumb rest as well. That may stop the twisting action that is making the screws come loose. Thanks, Eric
  7. Hello: For a AR9mm the 124 grain bullets are the way to go. 131-134PF is where you want to be with a lightened bolt/buffer setup. For a Sig MPX the 115's at 145-148PF is the sweet spot. I tried 95-165 grain bullets and on the clock the 124's in the AR9mm are the best. They also work great out to 100 yards. Thanks, Eric
  8. Hello: Try the HS-6 with some 115's and see how you like the feel of it. I like HS-6 better than the other powders I have tried for 9mm open pistols and I have tried lots of them. In the next couple of weeks I am going to try another powder in 9mm to see how that works for me. Thanks, Eric
  9. Hello: I use one that clamps to the rail when I practice. Makes brass collecting so easy ? The one I have has seen some use on my AR15 as well. It works but one thing that has happened to mine is one of the detents fell out but it still holds on as long as you don't overfill it. I need to contact Caldwell about that. Not sure I would use it in a match since it may get in the way. Thanks, Eric
  10. Hello: Head shots off hand since I don't shoot any matches that require a bench to shoot 50 yards. Thanks, Eric
  11. Hello: Ask " kneelingatlas" which comp he likes the best. Thanks, Eric
  12. Hello: Rust is a coating---just saying! Thanks, Eric
  13. Hello: try some 115's at 138-145PF. I use Tite Group with this setup. Thanks, Eric
  14. Hello: Try some HS-6, Silhouette, or Auto Comp. Those are my favorite 9mm open powders. Thanks, Eric
  15. Hello: Check your ejector to make sure it is not broken the tip off of it. Try a 9lb recoil spring and see if that helps or hurts it. Check to see if your grip screws are tight. Look at the grip to make sure it is not cracked. Look everything over for worn parts or something with a burr. Hope this helps. Thanks, Eric
  16. Hello: Looks like they are using the green JP spring like I have been using for a long time on their new heavy ass buffer setup. I would say this setup will be for factory ammo and not really that great for 131-134PF reloads. Some like the short stroke and some don't. It is a more of how it feels to you than anything else. I am in the light bolt and buffer with the full length stroke camp. I have a bad shoulder so it feels better to me than the short stroke setup. Thanks, Eric
  17. Hello: I am using a JP bolt but a friend of mine is using a standard bolt with the weight removed. Thanks, Eric
  18. Hello: You will need and want two barrel setups. Shooting 9mm in a 38 barrel will not be the best setup since you are trusting the extractor to hold the round in place. What I see happening here is that those long time 38 shooters are going to 9mm now. Sure there are some die hards that are sticking with 38 but some of them are sponcered or are just afraid to change up their reloading setup. If you can I would try shooting an open pistol. It may not be for you. They are not as loud when you are shooting them but some are harsh to shoot on your hand. Good luck in your search. Thanks, Eric
  19. Hello: You can have another barrel fitted and see which one suits you better. I have shot both and actually prefer 9mm. I am not the fastest open shooter but I know that it is not my caliber choice that is holding me back. I have one pistol that I fitted two barrel setups with my comps on them to do the testing. I used the same powder HS-6 to make things fair. I also played with different power factors to see which one I liked better. The 9mm just felt quicker and flatter to me. As Jack pointed out the gun is only part of your cash outlay. I like 9mm also since I can just leave the brass lay after a match and don't feel bad about it. Don't get me wrong I am a brass rat but when it's 100 degrees with 90% humidity who wants to be searching for brass after the match? All I want to do is have a cold beer and some Mexican food. Thanks, Eric
  20. Leave the parts in the sun for a month and they will turn pink. You could also soak them in vinegar I think and that will make them pink. This is for red anodized parts.
  21. Hello: I have been running the 510C's on my PCC's for over a year so that is not a problem. I love the sight on the PCC. I like the larger window on it also. Not sure about on an open pistol? Thanks, Eric
  22. Hello: I may have to try this and test it out to see how it compares to the C-More slide rides I have been using for a while. Anyone have a mount they will sell for cheap? Thanks, Eric
  23. Hello: Do a search on here. I have posted pics of the racker on a TruBor that I cut the slide. Thanks, Eric
  24. Yes, I have seen it three times now. They are a real pain to get the case sleeve out since it gets hammered into place.
  25. Hello: Stage design is what I use when choosing which mag to start with. I sometimes just use two 140's if there is an easy place to reload. In the end it is just what you feel makes you faster. I can reload to a 140 faster than a 155 or a 170. I know some very good shooters who just use 170's but download them a little when reloading to them. It is worth a try. Thanks, Eric
