  1. Hello: I am thinking of trying a Holosun 510C on one of my open pistols. I love the way they are working on my PCC's and 15/22. I wonder how well the mount will hole up? Thanks, Eric
  2. Hello: I like the Dawson and TTI base pads the best. If you get a chance before you order some see if you can fondle some to see which feel better in your hands. Thanks, Eric
  3. Hello: I like my open pistol to balance with no mag right at my weak hand index finger. Add a full big stick and it is perfect for me. Thanks, Eric
  4. Hello: I have some of those base pads and maybe one of those mags still. Thanks, Eric
  5. Hello: It is just a really big Dremel that is over 60 years old. Thanks, Eric
  6. Hello: I forgot to add that the frame holes could be welded and then drilled and tapped for a standard mount also. Here is a frame I bought that needed fixing. It is my primary Open pistol now. Thanks, Eric
  7. Hello: That frame should be just fine for a newer style scope mount. You will have to see if the holes are 0.375" on center or get a mount with no predrilled holes to match what you have on it now. The frame is thicker than a standard 1911 or a Para so no problem there. Cool old gun. Thanks, Eric
  8. Hello: Change the recoil spring to a 9lb and try it out. I have seen a couple of cracked DVC comps here as well. Slides on STI and Cheely/Keegan pistols. I would get the OK from STI first and keep record of it. Thanks, Eric
  9. Hello: The grip angle would have to change to except the Glock magazines. The frame would have to be opened up some to except the Glock magazines as well. I think you would be better off getting a steel Glock frame and work on a better trigger for it. I have a Glock 34 with a 2 1/4lb trigger that is pretty nice to give you an idea of what can be done pretty easily. Thanks, Eric
  10. Hello: Look at the Wilson Arms barrels. They are stainless and shoot very well. You can turn them down or throat them if needed but I can plunk my open loads in at 1.170". I think the new Faxon and KAW Valley are throated deeper now. Thanks, Eric
  11. Hello: I think it is for a 1911/2011 slide but could also be done to others. No perforations allowed in single stack. Thanks, Eric
  12. Charles, 0.40-0.75ozs. You can also cut under the rear sight and in front of it. The inside can be cut also on the slide. The barrel can be cut down as well. Thanks, Eric
  13. Hello: i would shoot it and see what you think. Make sure you shoot some major loads through it and see how it does for you. If it cheap enough I would buy it. Thanks, Eric
  14. Hello: I used a set of feeler gauges to get the correct thickness. Mine was not standard thickness but a little bit more. That was on a 45acp that I ended up selling. I shouldn't have sold that one. Thanks, Eric
  15. Hello: I would throat it so you can load the same for both PCC's. I would also chrono them both to see if they are close to each other. Last I would machine the lead to help it feed better. Thanks, Eric
  16. Hello: You can use the 4mm TTI. You may have to take a little off the top of the magazine to fit the gauge. OR you buy the 3mm base pad and cut 1/2 coil off the spring and it will hold the same as the 4mm base pad. OR leave the spring alone with the 3mm base pad and it may hold the same as the 4mm base pad. So just buy the 3mm base pad and check the gauge. Thanks, Eric
  17. Hello: There are some Lead Star ones here also. They are heavy but look cool. The buffer can cause some problems but other than that they seem ok. Not something I would want since you have a chance of getting stuff going into the bolt area. Thanks, Eric
  18. Hello: I do know that the barrel on those are pretty soft material. I throated one so I could load long with it. The slide maybe the same way being a little soft. Thanks, Eric
  19. Hello: The barrel nut is different on the Taccom and KAW Valley. You can also get longer lengths with the KAW Valley but I am sure Tim at Taccom will make you a longer one if you ask him. No rail on the KAW unless you add one by drilling some holes and adding a mount. Thanks, Eric
  20. Hello: Yes, one of my favorite PCC handguards is the Nordic 22 aluminum one. It just balances right for me and the small diameter is nice even for my big hands. Shame they don't sell them any longer. I like the Taccom carbon one as well as the KAW Valley carbon ones. Thanks, Eric
  21. Hello: You can lighten a bull barrel pretty easily. Cone comps are not that much lighter than a bull barrel setup. Since you have the barrel already you are half way there. Thanks, Eric
  22. Hello: What recoil spring weight are you using? It also look like you could seat those primers a little more also. Thanks, Eric
  23. Hello: I am really liking the Mission First Tactical stocks. Light weight and they don't wiggle around like some of the others. Can't go wrong with Magpul stuff either. Thanks, Eric
  24. Hello: I have tried most of the powders for 9mm major and keep coming back to HS-6. It is not the cleanest but does clean up easily. Not abrasive and burns very completely. If you like to test loads since it is part of the fun for me then try all the powders you can is my suggestion. I think in the end you will find what works for you the best. For me so far it's HS-6 and 115's. Thanks, Eric
  25. Hello: find a used STI Trubor and it will take you as far as you want to go. I have shot alot of these production type guns made into open guns and they are not that great. The Checkmate and SPS are both not bad but you have to do some stuff to them to make them run 100%. Same goes for some of the other open pistols, that is why I suggested to buy a good used one since the bugs have been worked out. Ask around your club since someone may have one you can try to see if you actually like shooting open. You may find someone who has an old Caspian or other pistol they may sell. Thanks, Eric
